Premium MemberA Squirrel and his Nuts

What does it mean
when a squirrel brings you
his nuts

An act so selfish
yet rewarding
an image to always reflect upon

So I picked up his nuts
and I gave them a good looky-see
they were gorgeous

I thanked the squirrel
‘Thank you for your nuts’
and I wondered what to give him in return

All I have is my love for you
from my heart
deep down inside

The squirrel was disheartened
and left promptly
with his nuts

Premium MemberMy Lucky Gold Piece

Great Googly Moogly!
Looky here at what I found.
A twenty dollar gold piece,
Just lying on the ground.

I put it in my pocket,
Though it was kinda muddy.
I'm gonna keep on looking,
And hope I find his buddy.

Premium MemberA Man Among Men

Well, well, well, lookey you here
See me smiling from ear to ear

What could it be that's making me grin
Do you think I might be into the gin

Don't touch the stuff, it makes me silly
Already silly, my mind's willy-nilly

Sometimes things that come out of my mouth
Surprise even me and surely my spouse

But as I have reached these golden years
At people's opinion of me, I just sneer

Everyone should be just who they are
No matter how silly, or extreme or bizarre

I pride myself being my own man
A far cry from when my dear life began

Extremely happy with the way things turned out
Over the moon, of that there's no doubt

Once had a complex way back when
But now I'm a real man among men

Well, well, well, looky you here
See me smiling from ear to ear

Premium MemberThe Pink Lady of Malibu

Though her life span was less than a week,
The Pink Lady of Malibu was a glorious sight,
Never to be forgotten by anyone who was lucky enough to see her
The daring escapade spanned six months
Timing her final foray on the cliff to coincide with the full moon

On October 31st, 1966, seemingly overnight
there appeared on the sheer cliff wall
above the Malibu Canyon tunnel
a 60-foot-tall painting of a nude woman
gamboling freely with her black hair flowing behind her
and a fistful of yellow lilies

No one knew who had created this guerrilla artwork
but scandalized Los Angeles County officials
Fearing traffic congestion and looky-loo accidents
They had decided she couldn't stay

House paint and a giant stencil to accomplish the artwork
The paint had soaked into the porous rock
Finding it impossible to remove her
The county ended up covering the Pink Lady in beige paint

Looky Nooky

A stripper known as Raven Madd
Looked pleased to show off what she had
But why should I care
When she does not share?
To look but not touch makes us sad!

Premium MemberThis Too Shall Pass

So much to do and so little time.
Sometimes life has no rhythm or rhyme.

When I've got lots of money I have no time.
When I've got lots of time I haven't a dime'

So if I'm gonna eat I must go to work.
If I sit on my butt I'll just lose my shirt.

Got up this morning filled with dread.
Just had a feeling I should stay in bed.

Took a cold shower, there's no hot water.
Stood shivering and wondering why do I bother.

To even think about work is absurd,
For sure this day will be for the birds.

But I have to go in so I started to dress.
Time's growing short but I must look my best.

Pulled on my new stockings, I'm under the gun,
And just looky there, my big toe made a run.

I'll have to wear pants 'cause I have no others.
Fix my hair, brush my teeth, hope make-up covers,

Two zits on my face that appeared over night,
Have I gained some weight, these pants are too tight.

Grab my shoes and my purse and jump in the car.
Now it won't start, well that's about par.

I'm shook and I'm mad and I'm losing it fast.
Just sit, think and breathe, this too shall pass.

The Strange And Gray House-

Whose house is this? I think I know?
This the strange and gray house
Why does it tauntingly glow?
Its owner is quite sad though.
It really is a tale of woe,
I watch him frown. I cry hello.
He gives his house a shake,
And sobs until the tears make.
The only other sound's the break,
Of distant waves and birds awake;
Spiders and mouses, run in and out of;
This the strange and gray house is;
Spooky ooh wee looky;
What's that over there;
Did you see all that hair;
The house glowing strange, gray deep;
As he has promises to keep;
Never then he shall not sleep;
He lies in bed with ducts that weeps;
He rises from his bitter bed;
With thoughts of sadness in his head;
He idolizes being not alive, dead;
Facing the day with never ending dread;
This the strange and gray house is

How Do You Like Them Apples

Oh looky here so fine tonight
Look what the cat dragged in!
I gotta say your timing’s right
Didn’t think you’d show again
To what do I owe this pleasure?
Were ya just in the neighborhood?
I’ve been hangin’ on forever
Though I didn’t know if I should
This one sided love is vicious
I ‘got SUCH a mad crush on you!
I admit I’m a bit suspicious
Ya just ‘showin’ up ‘outta the blue’
I don’t wantcha to think I’m ungrateful
I’ll take all I can get with you
So “ how do ya like them apples?”
Oh _______ please tell me you do!

Kim On Poetry Soup

A clever cookie and a good looky,
But certainly not a poetry rooky,
She always enjoys writing some,
Then stretching out in the Philippine sun,
Let's hope she never plays hooky.

A Long Line of Scallywags

I love my son he's always chipper
he's my scallywag and I'm the skipper
and the apple does'nt fall far from the tree
he's menatly challenged just like me!

and even though his dad's a zero
"hey dad your my hero!"
having fun is all he's wishing
"hey dad ya wanna go fishin?"

lost the house a home we have not
"hey dad looky what I caught!"
no business financal ruin we sank
"aww dad you can have my piggy bank"

rich kids need toys to have fun
"love you dad!" "love you son!"
think no toys would make him sad?
such a good boy "your the best dad!"

now I know I won't always live forever
"hey dad we always be together?"
"no worries son just stay chipper
you'll have your own scallywag and you'll be the skipper!"

Doom

Fake hearts,
Beware what you dream,
In this world,
Full of schemes,
It's hard to redeem,

Horror filled screams,
At nightmare scenes,
Painted with a maniac's brush,
Too late to wipe the slate clean.

Downward spirals,
Tail spinning to doom.
Camera angles,
Picture perfect,
To give your face,
That high-def zoom.

So that looky loos,
Better off than you
Can be home by nine,
And watch your tragedy,
On the 10 o'clock news.

Misconceptions,
In their views,
Thinking they can,
Better choose.
A better life than you.
Cheers to the idiotic ramblings,
Of pathetic fools.

Who are only a few moments,
From a similar fate.
Your last breath,
Is spent laughing,
Cause while they try to cling to life,
You already know,
For them
It's too late.

Fate has sealed the deal,
Pain is what they'll feel.
The blind are leading the blind,
To the fields,
Where the mad men kill.

White Wine Emparado Sun Shine ( 2007 )

White Wine Emparado Sun Shine ( 2007 )

The frosted glass
Trickles in the shade
Little rivulet’s marking times smiling
Hazy cool sips
Of the second bottle
Shared with talk and laughter
While Costa Del Blanca heat
Bakes the dust devils
Dancing at the seas edge

Shared bread of the day
Tuna olives and jalapenos
Spell their twang
While giggling on some silly joke

Its smells like goats cheese
And tasty trinkets of fishy squid
Cold crisp vino blanco
Hazy cool sipped
Of the third bottle
Cork’s popped

Tourist frying in sun tan oil
Unaware of the benefits of shadow

We kick back
Souls replenishing in lazy skies
Friend filled eyes
Enjoy the silence of company
Lilting with Spanish guitars
And the dusky Arab “looky looky” man plies his wares

The sleepy heady slows
Bodies stretch comfortable with tans
And cigarette smoke
Drifts hours to the soft washing
Sighing Mediterranean salt

Away for the duration
Left back somewhere the cold chill
And rain of England’s
Dismal lowered damp grey
Shrugged from these shoulders
And forgotten

We kick back
Any further back would lead to snoring

Souls replenishing in lazy blue skies
