Look Out On Poems | Examples

Premium Member UNLESS WE TEACH THEM OTHERWISE

As adults when we look out on our world
and pain and sadness are all we see
we need only look upon our children
to restore our faith in humanity

And remember how children are accepting and generous…
how we see the kindness in their eyes
and how they know nothing of prejudice and hate…
unless we teach them otherwise.

there is still beauty and magic everywhere.

Premium Member Look Out on Halloween!

Be sure to look out
on Halloween Night.
For around every corner
is a scare and a fright.
Something rustling
in the bushes.
Something quivering
in the trees.
Something flying
overhead.
Something floating
in the breeze.
Something howling
in the forest.
Something rapping
on your door.
Something calling
out your name.
Something walking
'cross the floor.
Something looking
through your window.
Something creeping
up the stairs.
Something tapping
on your shoulder.
It's a night of
frights and scares.

Premium Member CATERPILLARS AND BABY LIZARDS

If I’m ever filled with dread…feelings of gloom and doom….
I look for new leaves on the trees…and flowers about to bloom.

I greet the stars up in the sky…watch the sun rise on a new day…
I stop and watch baby rabbits in the field as they play.

I listen to the baby birds in their nests…not quite ready to fly free…
I look out on the water and find baby dolphins in the sea.

This time of year in Florida…I like to walk real slow…
and greet the caterpillars and baby lizards everywhere I go.

Why is this important…because in the way it helps me cope.
It reminds me how Mother Nature has not lost her hope.

If she wasn’t filled with hope…if she was filled with gloom and doom
she wouldn’t encourage her trees to grow new leaves…
or invite her flowers to bloom.

She wouldn’t excite the birds to sing…
or inspire the stars to shine up in the sky…
and if Mother Nature places her hope in caterpillars and baby lizards
then, Gook Heavens, so will I.

Premium Member BLESSED TO LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE

May we all be blessed to one day learn a second language
because as these new words in your unfurl
we find they open up another window in which to look out on the world

And when we think in a different language
we’re in for a surprise….
as we look through this new window
and begin to see the world through another culture’s eyes.

Premium Member GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER REPEAT

I know I’ve used this George Washington Carver quote before…
but I believe we can’t hear these words enough…
especially when we look our on a world
where, for so many, times are tough…

Eventually when these words might find their way into our hearts
we’ll see everyone as our sister and our brother
and we’ll look out on a world
where we all take care of one another

How far you go in life depends on being tender with the young
Compassionate with the aged
Sympathetic with the striving
And tolerant with the weak
because someday in your life you will have been all of these

Premium Member THE MISSING PIECE

As I look out on the world and see hatred rearing it ugly head
and wars that never cease…
It seems to me in this world-wide puzzle we’re trying to construct
we’re missing one important piece.

One missing piece…the last piece that would make our puzzle complete.
and until we find this missing piece our life is doomed to be bittersweet.

What makes this all the more frustrating…
since this is the last piece of the puzzle we require to succeed.
Is that we know the exact shape and size of the missing piece we need.

Love and acceptance are part of that final piece…
We all love our family and our fiends….
but for many…at the border of our family and friends
is where our love and acceptance ends.

What if that missing piece will only materialize
what if our puzzle can only be done…
when the love we feel for our family and friends
extends across the world…to everything…and everyone?

When our love and acceptance extends to everyone and everything
eventually all hatred and wars will cease…
and our puzzle will be completed…
When we add our final puzzle….peace.

Premium Member WINTER DREAMS

Christmas time has come and gone,
T'was all we hoped t'would be.
I sit here musing by the fire,
As the wind blows through the eaves.

I dream of lazy summer days,
And fields of wild flowers;
Babbling brooks and hidden nooks,
Taking shelter from the showers.

I dream of cool yet balmy nights,
Spent in the garden swing,
Listening to the night sounds,
And loving everything.

The fire flies that flit about,
In and out of foliage,
Moistened by the evening dew,
As they make their evening voyage.

I long for summer evenings,
But for now I'm satisfied,
To look out on snowy meadows,
And the pristine country side.

As I walk through the sands of the beach, I wonder if the love of my life

will ever come into my life. Life is strange; you see many places of sands,
but not of any particular item that stands into the open.
Beachfront 8945, my look-out on the beach for the girl of my dreams.
Is the girl short or tall, brains or daffy? As I walk the beach, I dial
Beachfront 8945 to find the girl of my dreams. Beachfront 8945, Hello,
Is Diana there? Is Mary there? What about Florence? If Diana or Mary
is not available, I will take Florence. Beachfront 8945, I'm ready for a
   hot date.

I have Roses, Candy and Perfume. Are you ready to go out tonight with
me? Call me at Beachfront 8945; I'll be there waiting for your call.
Call me-we can explore the beach together, the city together, the state
together, and the whole earth. Call me, Call me, Call me, my phone
   number is Beachfront 8945.

Premium Member Untethered

Salt tears drip from leaves,
to land on tea-colored pages.
Hopes and dreams,
written in the ink of history,
slowly blur and drip
into the underworld of the
abandoned and long forgotten.

Salt waters of the ocean
and tumbling waves turn
stones and pebbles to sand,
erasing familiar shapes
and throwing up barriers
to once precious memories.

Dimming eyes look out on
unfamiliar landscapes of a mind
inching inexorably into
a vast emptiness that steals
learned behaviors, abilities,
and the past, leaving nothing.

The empty eyes wander
but do not understand, for
the spirit that occupied this frame
has broken earthly chains.
It now soars free, no longer captive
to expectations and this mortal life.

Premium Member Near the Ocean

Near the ocean I'd love to be.
To have my house there would be sweet!
I'd invite friends to visit me.
A life like that – could it be beat?

I’d not complain if there were heat.
Be it near ocean or the sea,
the water is a cooling treat.
Near the ocean I'd love to be.

I’d jump the waves and feel so free
to feel soft sand beneath my feet.
If storms arose, then I could flee.
To have my house there would be sweet!

Life with no friends is not complete.
Picnics on shore I’d guarantee.
What awesome foods we all would eat.
I'd invite friends to visit me.

We’d wake to ocean’s breeze; then we
would find smooth rocks used for a seat.
We’d have good times; don’t you agree?
A life like that – could it be beat?

I do not need a hotel suite.
I'd rather have my own palm tree
to look out on. That would be neat -
a great stay-cation lived with glee
near the ocean!

Premium Member A Father's Hope

She was crying when she ran to him and as he caught her in his arms
he wished, as all fathers do, he could shield her from harm.

But that’s not how it works…into her life there will be sunshine and there will be rain…and when the clouds are darkest…the best a father can do is help to ease the pain.

Her lips began to quiver as tears fell from her eyes.
“He called me ugly, Daddy! Can you please tell me why?”

He held her in his arms…and slowly began to sway
Hoping, through osmosis, to absorb then take her pain away.

“It’s not you but his heart that is ugly.” He said. “For it is our heart that holds the key…
when we look out on the world as to how much beauty we will see.”

“We don’t always know what’s in another person’s heart…
from where their meanness stems…
but when they’re mean or call you names
the problem is not you…it’s them.”

“I am sad, so sad, he called you ugly…but I am sadder still by far…
that his heart may never let him see how beautiful you are.”

She smiled and as they held on to one another
he prayed he’d always have the knack…
whenever rain falls into her life…
to help her find a rainbow…
to bring her sunshine back.”
