Kim (one of my BFF) brightened with inspiration, “Oooo! Send him a sexy pic!”
“I’m NOT going to sext a guy out of the BLUE,” I grumbled, indignantly.

Kim turned to her phone, “No, No, of COURSE not.” She said as she texted.

“Come on” she said, as she pulled me off my chair and out the door. We raced over, on foot, to my friend Bili’s house (two houses away). We entered without knocking (as usual) and ran upstairs.

Bili lay on her stomach on her unmade bed, fiddling with her phone, ankles up and crossed but she twisted up to attention when we came in.
“What should we do first?” She said, as if there were a million things to do.

They set upon me and had my regular clothes off in a heartbeat. Like all makeovers, this had a prelapsarian purity - the ritual stripping down to blankness before rebuilding.

They quickly went through about half of Bili’s closet - selecting just the right combination of trashy and classy clothes designed to seduce.

They finally settled on a black slip under an ivory peignoir, stockings with garters and black strappy heels.

Kim twisted my hair up into a loose “Gibson Girl.”

“Hold still,” Bili said, as she grasped my chin and expertly blended red, gold and black glittery eyeshadows followed by lip liner and gloss. “This is just a quickie job,” she reminded me.

I stared at this strange version of myself in the vanity.

Kim frowned and looking around, she spread a pink scarf over the desk light to give the room a rosy glow. They went into studio mode - posing me in various ways from coquettish to bored lounging - suggesting expressions and taking endless pictures with my phone.

Finally, they were satisfied and handed me my phone. 
“Shall we go through them?” Bili asked

“Naah,” I said, “I’ll go through ‘em and pick one - or two.”

Later, at home, I looked through them - I looked SO different - and I had to admit - sexy even. But was that ME? I cringed, what if my mom saw these trashy, Kardashian-like photos somewhere?

I never sent them. I thought I’d have to explain it to my girls.
“HA!” They laughed, “We KNEW you’d never use ‘em” Bili said, as Kim shook her head “Nope.”
“It was fun though!” We all agreed.

Her smile is like the sunlight
Reflecting through the forest
Dancing with the leaves, across the hills
Whispering joyfully, kissing the stillness
With a kindness that is contagious
A kindness that the heart applauds
Kindness, an open door to the heart’s love

Her laughter is like the melodies
Angels playing sweet instruments
Softly, sweetly, soothing the spirit
With the echoes of enchanting songs
Gentle tunes, breathless wonder
Flowing across the silence with abiding
Peace, pouring out laughter, sincerity

Her joy is like the promise of grace
Raining down hope through the soul
Coloring the spirit in hues, vibrant and bold
Sensations so brilliant they astonish
Even the very wise and the strong, the powerful
Rays of a love too wonderful to describe
Love that is alive as the moon and the stars

Her embrace is like the soft touch of wind
Breathing its sighs across the hills, 
Filling the heart with inspiration, visions
Pleasures so spontaneous and special
They feel like a silent prayer has been answered
With “absolutely” – you are blessed
You are sanctified by the grace of amazing faith

Her satisfaction is like release of dreams, free
From every burden of fear or doubt
Leaving you filled with courage that lasts
Daring that lifts you from the darkness
Into the shimmering sparkle of a light
Where your silhouette can conquer anything
Your dreams can become truth, reality

Her simplicity is like the beauty of a thought
Who encourages, inspires and enlightens
Her goodness, her confidence, the wisdom
That is like a life pouring out warmth, serenity
Flowing amid the promises of a creativity
Who believes and agrees to be heartened
By the feelings that stream from her soul

She is like God’s angel, His gift to His children
She is a mother, His revelation – His plan
No one on earth can be more lovely 
She is irreplaceable – She is the reason I always say…
I am blessed more than anyone else I know
I am blessed with a mother who makes me feel…
Like I am her reason – her joy and her purpose

Thank God for my mother, the one who shines her light
Into my spirit, into my dreams, into my joy and into my feelings!

Reason and Desire

Covered with your mantle      you spirited me away
that form held my emotion          held me in its sway
herefore  you could view me         soul as clear as glass
wish do I its movements           desire never it to pass

Vision upon vision     opened mine eyes to see
need to build this life          for all of     humanity
I want to take your hand     and lead you to the door
fill you with inspiration         and lift you even more

I can build a ballroom      much greater in my mind
dance upon marbled floors     the room I did design
where the frames are gilded     with silver and with gold
here the strings of harps       the listeners ears enfold

I want to take every           pain from you away
and when you wake tomorrow       for nothing more to pray
want you to understand      I wrote this just for you
ever seek your happiness        where Love’s unbroken true
 
I never want you lingering           in the house of vain
I want to see you dancing     with joy in life’s refrain
to paint with every color    and play with every hue
to wake with a song in heart         and share the things you do 

If I could but reach you      and your spirit mend
shelter all your feelings            your life would I defend
I would give you blue skies   the mists of gentle rain
flowers in the springtime        an earth that’s rich in grain

But someone has already    given all these gifts
meant them for everyone    and not as man permits
but you must keep seeking       to fill yourself in kind
always to be generous        in actions and in mind 

To find a fluent master      who can teach you the right way
examine all of learning      apply it in every day
from a little seedling         did the tree of knowledge grow
until you can reach for life     and the beauty of it know

When you think your well is empty
and the depths within are dry
get up and seek the water
and to its sources fly

don’t linger in the darkness 
and traditions that are blind
in life to be exalting 
but you its paths must find
 
Life is a kind of music
and fathomless  its array 
it takes time and practice
to master the chords you’ll play

Take in life’s instruction
examine all in it that’s good
make your heart and mind the temple
and its teachings understood

Rhymes About Nothing

I was going to take it easy, but I’m going to write harder than ever before
I’m all about love and peace, but the world thinks we’re better with war
I’m going by my own expectations because I’ll never measure to yours
I act confident because you’d eat me alive if you knew I was ever insecure 
I don’t show my heart much, I keep it in my chest, but the treasure is pure
They say I’m single minded, so how do I write double rhymes that are clever and raw?
Me to be the new Eminem was all a plan
He wrote a song about me, he just decided to call me Stan
The only difference is I’m here with a normal state of mind
Okay that was a lie, because you have to be a certain amount of crazy to create these rhymes
Tupac passed me a pen from heaven so now I’m here to take what’s mine
World on my shoulders, but I won’t allow it to break my spine
I’ll hold it up
Travel to the North Pole because my heart still isn’t cold enough
I need it cold enough so I stop missing my ex from time to time
The world shouldn’t be told this much
But I’m trying to write a new story in the oldest book
I go looking for what the normal human isn’t designed to find
Please don’t mind my mind
I’m just a little crazy, mixed with inspiration from Slim Shady
Tortured with self-loathing due to my parents putting me in foster care as a baby
With a broken heart from a girl who took advantage of my kind nature
I hope you see clearly now because you could be blind later
Got enough rhymes to fill nine papers
And complete 20 albums for your favourite artist
As soon as I get my lock on, I won’t change the target
My pen is full and I won’t apologise for the carnage 
Make you take notice of what I’m writing; you won’t be able to disregard it
Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger are hiding from the poetical Jason Voorhees
I’m not a movie writer creating stories
Someone ask Cupid to have Ariana Grande waiting for me
If he has other plans, that’s fine, but it’s worth asking
But it’s probably best he doesn’t because dating bores me
I push away people because I don’t how to trust
I’ve been numb for so long, I wouldn’t feel it if I was touched
I’m working on myself, to fall in love I’m not in a rush
I’ve seen Friends turn to snakes, they didn’t realise I’m a shark so they can’t drown me
The man has become a king so you should crown me

He silences the vulgar roar
Of loneliness and fear
He gentles all the stormy wars
Between sin and my spirit
He christens my heart’s kiss
With inspiration so tender
He sprinkles kindness, humility
All around my soul’s belief

He lingers on my spirit’s hope
With a vibrant hue of light
He brings a brilliant tone of grace
Pouring sprays of acceptance
He whispers promises to the heart
Who listens to His direction
He raises the stardust dreams
With a bold, clever embrace

He responds to all my prayers
With sincerity and generosity
He lifts the burdens that I carry
Nurturing my soul, my faith
He builds my heart’s greatest blessing
By giving guarantee of its sanction
He blends His wonder with discernment
Creating in me a heart full of awe

He quiets every shame or disgrace
With kindness so bright it vibrates
He breathes a desire into my soul
For the chance to know and love Him more
He secures my every prayer with promise
That He will always be there beside me
He heals my murkiest impressions
With a soothing warmth that comforts

He breaks through the hardness of my heart
To soften the feelings that I had lost
He makes me touch the absent reflections
With compassion that I had secreted within
He taught me that love was meant to be given
Through good or bad, it would fulfill me
He stirred my heart to listen through the stillness
That gave me a reason to believe His gift

He is the light, the love, the Son
The reason I am someone who can smile
With the delight of knowing One
Who brings my heart peace and my soul
The opportunity to listen, to believe
In Him, Jesus… the wonder of wonders
The light that shines down such love
It feels like this song must be sung!

Listen to the heart – reflect on Him with awe
He is the presence that will never forsake
He will always be there – just have faith
Listen to the heart – believe and receive
He is the answer to every fear, every tear
Simply look to Him and be blessed by His gift
Salvation of the soul who chooses to listen
With a heart that has been filled to the fullest
With a love that only Jesus can arouse in the spirit!

This love is a gift that keeps giving to the soul
Who knows that Jesus is the only way to find
The secret to life, love, hope, faith, grace… 
The path toward heaven where He awaits

Stirring hearts – igniting sparks
Joy and hope, peace and love
Lighting the world with His fire
Favor that fills the soul
With a spirit of sincerity, a feeling
That inspires truth and sharing,
Generosity that abounds
In the silence of a moment

The forever in His ways
The reasons I will always praise

Whispers of courage – inspired
By a faith so alive, so brave
There is belief that never fades
Into the stillness, that quiet place
Where the heart rests when 
Life becomes too crazy, too weird
Ridiculous to consider, eccentric
And without any true sensible
To color the dreams in a forever
Who knows the meaning of believing
The meaning who flavors moments
In a faith that overwhelms the doubt
Leaves the heart with certainty
Abiding trust – conviction and credence

Moving the mind to listen
Erasing the darkest suspicions
With a confidence who never fades,
A moment that is all ablaze
With sincerity that rains its grace
Through the soul, through the hopes
Into the dance of a life, a chance
For the saints to amaze
The light to illuminate and hesitate
Just beyond the freedom,
Where He is forever with us,
Inviting the heart into a relationship
Where His love is the center,
His mercy gives the gift of giving

This is the time – the age
To find the answers in Him
With prayers going up,
Singing hymns filled with inspiration,
Listening to the quiet of a light
Who arises to bless and bring us
Each one a piece of forever
The elation that His presence
Stirs into the fire of a blessing
Far brighter than any breath of the sun
Far greater than any hope just begun
So that we can know love that is always
Love that brings the heart so much 
Warmth that there is a comfort
Who fills the soul with unending pleasure

This is the time, this moment
For reaching out to the hand of hope,
The One who knows just how to cope
Jesus, our everlasting promise…
The One who brings us out of the darkness
Into the moment when we can be sure
There is glory to look forward to 
There is wonder that never fades away
There is light to shatter the doubt
There is love that can erase every ache
There is Jesus… and He is the only way
To know a life that is filled with grace

Breathe the passionate sapphire charms
As moonbeams caress the naked thoughts
Stardust falls on the last whisper of leaves
Fallen to the ground, singing of inspiration 
… and peace

All along the ridges where mountains connect
Are emerald pines in the mist, rustling quiet, 
… protective
Enlightening every heart with a silent hope
Bold and rich, alive with a sense of pure joy

Chrysanthemums wept as their blooms dried silently
Beneath a weary sun colored in buttery warmth
Feelings so alive they pulse crimson beneath
… a purple sky
Believing this light is ever powerful, insightful
Thriving, like the storm on a threatening sea…
Alive with the flow of the past weeping
Into the here and now – revealing so many doubts
Yet, laughing like a rainbow playing on the clouds
With a jubilance shining across the vast expanse
… whimsical and gentle, in hues so brilliant
They resonate within the shadows of elms
Oaks and pines, the darkening forest whines
With forbidden echoes from a silhouette
Of star drenched minds and dreams so alive
They tremble with divine life

It is November – the time for sweaters
Fires and smoke, imaginings of tomorrow
When morning brings layers of frost
Chilling the soul and opening the prayers
For a season of thanksgiving and gift giving
A reason for the passion that lives inside

Those who know it is by His being…
… that we have the hope of eternal peace
Love that knows no finishing
… a spirit who lives to bring hope and faith
To those who feel the mercy…
… beneath His amazing grace, His way
The road toward heaven’s gate!

November remembers… to be thankful
For it is with thanks that we continue… to appreciate
The love that is forever faithful
The love that breathes peace and acceptance
The love that is God’s answer
Love that goes on forever
Abiding within and giving light
Shimmering through the darkest night
Filling souls with inspiration and insight

I’m so thankful for this season of joy and thanks

Flames of brilliant white-blue fire
Flash through the dark of night
Giving my thoughts a place to graze
Like cattle on the land, in the hay
Feeding off the nutrients of grass
Clumps of precious sustenance 
Nourishing my ideas and dreams
With inspiration, insight and belief
That lives within the hopes that live
Within me – in my heart and soul
Where I go when I long for something
To breath, like beauty and intimacy
Feelings that penetrate my spirit
With sensitivity, sensations of intimacy

The fires raise goosebumps on my naked
Skin where truth comes to enlighten me
With soft caresses that fill me with desire
Passion resting around my creativity and
Dream of happiness, joy that lives within me
Filling me up with a tenderness that whispers
Through my soul, enlightening and delighting
Comparing my thoughts to those that fill up
Books with poetic ideas, breaths of light
Covering spirits with warm sighs and visions
Releasing pieces of hunger through my heart
Reaching into me with purpose that colors
Me in hues of crimson hope and violet dreams
Mysterious breathes of kindness murmuring 
Like a brook across smooth, wet stones

Blazing beauty, fire from the rhythmic beat
Of a heart that lives to pour out more oil
On the hearth of my ideas and visions, my 
Feelings of hope and faith and love that prays
For more smoke to enchant and hypnotize
Create a sense of peace uttering contentment
Through my bones and into veins flowing
With imagination, inspiration and insight
Ideas for music that wakens the heart to 
Hear heaven’s harps playing through eternity
Praising, glorifying and worshipping the One
Who sparks the fires inside me with a light
That lives to purify and penetrate the darkness
Leaving only hues of healing, hope and happiness
To laugh through the heart who knows Him
The One who makes a way through the storm
Guiding cold hearts to the flame that licks Love 
Through the walls built by loss, grief and fear

Love that lives – is eternally alive – thrilling
Sending fires to fulfill and enlighten through it all
Flames that light up the heart and soul with
Joy that knows hope and faith – amazing Love

Restoring grace to the promises, the faith
Abiding in the spirit of those who know

Welcoming the rich sighs of those who believe
This is the autumn’s ambition, to bring to us
A gathering of grief salted with intimacy,

In all the beauty fading into the quiet silhouettes
Free feelings, relieved by time and bringing
Delight into the heart of those who remember
This is the way of the morning, the sun and the moon

My heart has known love
And my heart has known disgust
I’ve been strong and I’ve been weak
My heart has known hope
And my heart has known despair
I’ve been warm and I’ve been cold
My heart has known passion
And my heart has known apathy

From the center of my heart
Where only God can see or know
There lives a woman who loves
Beyond her yearning dreams, completely

I’ve been happy and I’ve been sad
My heart has known pleasure
And my heart has known sorrow
I’ve been spontaneous and I’ve been withdrawn
My heart has known freedom
And my heart has known inhibition
I’ve been thankful and I’ve been ungrateful
My heart has known appreciation
And my heart has known ingratitude

From the depths of my heart
There love lives and opens the door
To faith that fills my life with inspiration
For feelings that create true satisfaction
