Show Your Card

I was working for Jack Daymond, a farmer,
who farmed livestock, potatoes and vines.
I s’pose he had over two hundred cattle.
The spuds and the grapes grew in lines.

Oh gawd! Jack had me slaving ‘til sunset,
keeping his farm spick and span.
Jack kept his eyes on the produce,
while I was his cleaning up man.

And that meant me days were all busy,
spraying and killing off weeds,
grubbing out hundreds of tussocks,
before the darn thing set its seeds.

Sometimes old Jack was a good bloke,
he’d jump in with a fine helping hand,
and we’d spend our day in the paddock,
destroying the weeds on his land.

We were digging out plenty of thistles,
in the north paddock up near the creek,
and we worked like a couple of Trojans
clearing what should have taken a week.

Then a voice loudly filled up the air.
And it was quite menacing too.
A bloke in a suit was striding to us,
declaring his strong point of view.

“Mr. Daymond, I am here to warn you,
that I represent government’s need.
It appears that with government water,
that your quota you far did exceed.”

“I’m here to check your irrigation,
and make sure you’re not being unfair.”
Jack Daymond replied “Do what you must,
but don’t go in that paddock up there.”

The bloke in the suit became snaky,
standing over poor Jack with a leer,
“Don’t tell me where I can or can’t go,
See this card that I am holding here.”

“This card is a reminder to you,
I have authority over your land.
I am allowed to go wherever I wish,
have I made myself clear?  Do you understand?'

Jack looked down at the card in his hand,
and knew there’s no sense to rebound,
so Jack nodded politely and joined me,
grubbing thistles from out of the ground.

It appeared that Jack had been beaten,
and in silence he’s taking it hard,
between thistles he gazed to the paddock,
at the bloke who had shown him the card.

But then a grin formed on his face,
we heard yelling like never before,
for the bloke in the suit he was sprinting,
and it’s something we cannot ignore.

Jack beat me on reaching the fence.
With the bloke in the suit in full flight,
and hot in pursuit was Jack’s Jersey bull,
with a look that was all sheer delight.

As the bloke in the suit got beside us,
with the bull behind him by a yard,
Old Jack cupped his hands and yelled out -
“Your card! Your card! Show him your card!”

When you lose your voice,
I hope you’ll still speak with your smile
When you can’t make a choice
I hope you’ll just sit for a while
When you feel the worst struggles,
I hope you can hear the song in your soul,

Singing in vibrant colors,
Hues of light, blessings of gold
Stirring the light of sweet hope

When you feel uncertain,
I hope you’re certain you’re loved,
When you feel imperfect,
I hope you know a perfect God,
When you doubt your own feelings,
I hope you feel like love is worthwhile…

Dancing like scarlet leaves,
Painted by His brush, His finger
		Silencing every fear, all disbelief

When you lose your inspiration,
I hope you’ll pray for a touch of grace,
When you don’t understand what is,
I hope you’ll discover the meaning of peace,
When you misplace your affections,
I hope He will guide you in love’s direction…

Silencing all the darkest fears,
Restoring your light to its place,
		Whispering hope into your heart

When you can’t find the meaning,
I hope you will discover life’s purpose,
When it all seems to be beyond comprehension,
I hope you reach out to take His hand,
When life gives you confusion and worry,
I hope you find the strength you need to overcome…

Surviving the losses, the lessons,
	Though wounded, growing toward completion,
Where His plan – you begin to understand!

I hope He challenges you to see love,
When someone hurts your heart, when in pain,
I hope He assures you that He is enough,
When everywhere you look, you see inadequate,
I hope He lights the way so you know His love,
And, when you can’t see – I hope you’ll still believe!

Never give up – God’s light is shining bright,
So you can find the way back from the regret,
Back from the torment – leaving it all in the past,
Knowing that His love is like a gentle breath,
Kissing away every doubt, reassuring your spirit
That whatever comes, wherever you go…

With God beside you, you’ll know the joy of a kindness
Far more beautiful, more alive than anything in life –
Let His love be the guide, to help you decide…
Throughout life, He’ll provide…
Simply pray, and praise – so He knows you’re thankful
For the love, His only Son, sent to save You
From a cold, dark world… sent to save You from despair,
Sent to save You from a life without…
Meaning, seeing, freedom that comes from simply believing!

missing dog, Blackie. Besides the sound of our voices, the hymns playing softly in the
background, the noise made by the porcelain plates as Mama wiped and put them
away, the humming of the refrigerator’s motor, the house was quiet. No body knew
what had happened to Blackie. We were really concerned about the whereabouts
of the dog, even though Papa had assured us that he would return at some point.
Since the funeral, he had vanished. Even the old man who lived across the street
from us and who loved Blackie, had not seen him, nor had any of the other
neighbors. We had searched in all the usual places. He had never run away from
home before. As far as I remember, Blackie never did come back home.

As Papa sat in his usual chair, quietly playing with the food on his plate, the kitchen
door opened, and in walked Thomas, Brian’s best friend. They were the same age,
and were very close even though they did not attend the same school, or the same
church. The two had become friends since they met at a Junior Boys Scouts meeting
at the age of seven. Thomas lived some distance away but they maintained a
special friendship. Out of school, wherever Brian was, so Thomas would be. They’d
both turned fourteen last September. Throughout those years they still were active
members of the Boys Scout, and had risen together in rank. Thomas had been away
on the recent Scouting trip. They had traveled to a neighboring country for a Scouts’
Jamboree. Brian should have gone too but something to do with school exams came
up so he couldn’t go. Thomas had just returned from the Jamboree that Saturday
afternoon, the second week after Brian’s burial. Lena, Reggie and I got out of
our chairs and ran to greet him. It was like welcoming him and Brian home as the
two were always together. He picked Lena up as he greeted our parents. Mama
standing at the sink, turned around, took one look at him and walked briskly, almost
running out of the kitchen, with my other sister in tow.

Papa greeted Thomas, his voice almost inaudible. Thomas looked puzzled. I guess
he thought he had walked in during a family argument. He was about to turn back
and walk out because he felt a little intrusive, I guess. It was extremely quiet in the
room; very unusual when everyone was in Mama’s kitchen at the same time. And
Mama, walking

Street Life

Poet: Ken Jordan
Story: Street Life
written: July/2014

Child, I have seen many nights
turn to dawn, out in the streets.
I was you once,  left home thinking that
I could take care of myself at eighteen.

My parents told me what to
expect from my decision to walk away
from the one's who loved me.

     Whatever they said, didn't matter,
because I was mentally gone, (lost) and
rushing to get out there in the unforgiving
 cesspool of street life.

One thing is clear,  once out there,
I learned very quickly what my parents
tried to get me to see.

The streets are cold , cruel , vicious,
 and everyone's for themselves.

When your money runs out, your group
of so called "friends," are gone.

No one is going to give you
something for nothing,  you make
it the best way that you can.

      Looking back, the temptation of
being out there with my friends,
doing whatever I wanted to do,
without permission from my parents,
was the lure that motivated my
desire to leave home, and hang out
in the streets.

      My parents fought tirelessly to
protect me from the hazards of
street life, but obviously, I wouldn't
listen.

They said son, you're too young at
eighteen, haven't finished high school;
you have no money.
What makes you think that you can
make it out there on your on.

You think that it's cool to hang-out, smoke
weed, drink alcohol, pop pills, do edible drugs, and stay up (high )
all night, and fallout wherever
you are.

The devil is a liar, he will set you up,
to lure you in,  he'll make you think that
you're, "part of his street family," but, when
it all goes down, (and it will go down), the
devil will point a finger your way,  and
leave  you to defend yourself, and move
on to the next victim.

In street life, you better know  which-a-way
 the wicked come.
They  wear false faces to hide who
they really are.

      I played with the
devil, and crossed many murky,
dark rivers, but, the devil did not win.

I heard my parents voice's saying,
"Theirs only two places to go
from street life, prison or the cemetery."

The devil is a lair, and he's not your
friend. be aware of who and what
you follow, because, all feathers
ain't good feathers, choose the path
of least resistance, and your life
will change for the good in you.

Ve Day In Italy

I remember it as if were yesterday
VE Day...well, not exactly
but, close enough for me
The actual surrender of Italy
May 2, 1945....but the damn Americans
Always the Americans wanted May 8
So, it's May 8th, but I'll always remember the second
We were in Milan...I love Milan
Hitler was dead, Mussolini was dead
I was alive, and in Milan
Rumours were out that the war in Europe was almost done
Nobody had told the Gerry's that though
Word came from Lubeck that they'd surrendered
I was twenty one years old, going on 50
War ages you...and not in a good way
I was in 6th Airborne and ready to go back
When the word came down
I remember kissing the waitress at our cafe
I kissed her hard, and with as much passion as a 21 yr. old can have
I didn't want to let her go
It was over
I kissed her for myself, and everyone in Milan
I kissed her for my folks in Clapham
I kissed her for her folks, wherever they were
I kissed her because we were free, they were free
I kissed her for my Uncle, who we lost early in 1941
Lost him during the blitz in London
England lost 430 people, we lost Uncle Cyril
That was enough, I was signing up
Now, it was over and I was moving on
I kissed her for everyone still waiting for the news
But, most of all, I kissed her for Leslie Testro, Rfn (18yrs)
Lance Cpl Thomas Wray (22 yrs), Lt. Dennis Edmonds (21 yrs)
and all the others attached to 6th Airborne
Who wouldn't know it was Victory in Italy
They were lost, not forgotten, never forgotten
Forever in our minds, our roll of honour
We celebrate them annualy
Few of us left now, but, those that are
go back to Italy every two or three years
back to Milan, and we toast them all
My waitress, Rosa Testrini
She was there as well, every year
Until five years back, we lost her
Now we toast her as well
We all have our honour roll
She was on mine
I found her again in 1950
We were on our second trip back
She met my wife, and I her husband
He's still there, and we talk
My Italian is better than his English
But, we talk as well as we can
I miss her, and the others
But that day, that glorious day in May
I've never kissed like that since
And my wife knows it
Sometimes she reminds me...
I laugh, and remind her....
What that day means...if it hadn't happened
We may not be kissing now
so, she'll never get that kiss
Only Rosa
Rest In Peace my waitress

The Shadows of Our Lives

Written by JWE and me:

The shadows in the light
Shine in your eyesight now
Let me hold you tonight
Shadows will follow you home
It will lead you wherever you roam
Somehow…

The shadows will lead you home from strife
Shelter you from destruction tonight
The shadows will lead you home all your life
The shadows tonight will be your light

All the things you shed upon me
Is the shadows of the light
All the things you hide from me
Is the shadows of the night
I want to be next to you right now
The shadows will lead you home…
Somehow…
Somehow…
The shadows of our lives
Will see us through right now
It's inside of you
You'll see it through

The shadows of darkness
Will turn into shadows of light
You got to see it through
That the light's inside you
You got to free yourself now
Shadows will lead you home…
Somehow…

The shadows will lead you home from strife
Shelter you from destruction tonight
The shadows will lead you home all your life
The shadows tonight will be your light

All the things you shed upon me
Is the shadows of the light
All the things you hide from me
Is the shadows of the night
I want to be next to you right now
The shadows will lead you home…
Somehow…
Somehow…
The shadows of our lives
Will see us through right now
It's inside of you
You'll see it through

Don't run away without a trace
We're walking together in this race
Heard your voice in the background
Doubt tries to make us captivity-bound
We won't be seperated for life…
If we end this unbearable strife...
Somehow…

The shadows will lead you home from strife
Shelter you from destruction tonight
The shadows will lead you home all your life
The shadows tonight will be your light

All the things you shed upon me
Is the shadows of the light
All the things you hide from me
Is the shadows of the night
I want to be next to you right now
The shadows will lead you home…
Somehow…
Somehow…
The shadows of our lives
Will see us through right now
It's been inside of you
Know it'll see you through

The shadow's light will see us through this race of grace
Darkness is all around us now, but we'll make it through
The light inside you - you and I must soon embrace
Before the dusk draws near and makes the dawn blue
The light is still deep inside you
Eventually, you'll see it through
Wherever you roam,
You'll find home

Horseplay

I was working cattle with a crew a little south of Muleshoe,
When I watched a horse work with perfection and grace.
I said "pardon me gent, no offense is meant,
But your horse is the smartest thing on this place."

He broke out in a grin and scratched at his chin,
“Name is Bob, I'll tell you the story if you've the time."
I looked at the crew and said "We're about through,
You can tell me over tequila and lime."

"My grandpappy , Jason , was from the Permian Basin
And cowboy'd where it was dusty and hot.
And I'll tell you son when it's all said and done,
That bunch from Odessa was a hard gamblin’ lot

"Now three fingered Willy owned a stud and a filly
And played poker whenever he could.
One day Willy met Jason, from the Permian Basin,
And they locked in a game of seven card stud.

"Things had gone badly and Willy looked sadly
At the money he had left on the table.
He could ante it all, but couldn't raise or call,
So he offered the stud from his stable.

"Now the stud's name was Gyp, smart as a whip,
And he was standing just outside the door.
Willy treated him like dirt and hit him with a quirt,
So the thought of a new owner pleased Gyp for shore.

"And so there was Jason, from the Permian Basin,
Holding two Aces, two jacks, a Queen and a Four.
Willy wasn't saying which cards he was playing,
But Gyp could see three Kings through the door.

"He had to act fast if he was ever to get past
Being treated like an old worn out shoe.
He burst through the door, knocked the lamp on the foor
And nuzzled Jason as past him he flew.

"After Gyp was gone and the lights came back on,
Jason looked at the cards he was holdin'.
Gyp had given him a third Ace and he settled it in place,
And knew Willy would certainly be foldin'.

"So Gyp teamed with Jason from the Permian Basin,
And he sired many a colt in his time.
The one I am ridin', there just ain't no hidin,
Is as smart as Gyp was in his prime.

“How did Gyp get that Ace that he put into place?
I get asked that question wherever I go.
I think you'll agree that Gyp was smarter than me
So I always answer "How the hell should I know?' "

Well, I listened to the story in all of its glory
And drank my tequila with lime.
I live in Texas, it's true, and I think like you do,
Now I guess I've heard it all in my time!

The Askance Chapter 3 Part 2b

“The only light from a sword have sheltered me from despair
The balance of reality and dreams, welcomes nothing to compare
Dreams were afterall the insanity of one’s desire
Made to believe moments before the awakening hour
This belongs the true origin since the fall of the humans
The curse brought from our love to cause The Ancients total domination
Moments since loved, to love to then unlove
I give to you only truth afar from lies to serve”

{Years of yore, a time somewhence atween the Holy War
A prophecy is soon to begin its outcry once more
Humanities who were forged to serve the Battalion Goddess were dying away
Prayers in blood were dis-spirited souls praying to live another day
Yet despairs to the Heavens never seem to be heard
Where forth the Battalion Goddess, where is the Goddess of Word?
The Goddess who mortals seek hope in, bears one in many prophecies
The one to lead till the end of war, to rid the Ancients of miseries
However, the DarkLord Alkzadrius, only grew ever stronger each dusk
Every other night to those who live, only promises to be last
There was then this one night, in the ruins throughout The Ancients
A brightest of light shone from a seemingly farthest of distance
Two figures emerge from beyond, one a woman and another a man
And the very might of the moment itself, have had evil dissolving into the sands
Every other minions who came in their way were vanquish
Even spells and curses cast upon the terrain had discreetly vanish
Sensing victory for the night, mortals around raise their swords and fought
Yet the battle were already won at hearts without so much a thought!
It was raining a subtle when dawn finally arrive
That day, every mortal to witness the birth had survive
Humanities rejoice in triumph to the Champions of the lands
Peace being the one hope for all time, was only just a matter of when
The prophecy remains to be true… prayers were heard
Evermore so, mortals reunited to serve once more the Goddess of Word
Every battle were won, wherever the Champions of the Word were to walk
In time, they were feared by most every minions of the Darklord
Alkaiya, the name enchanted by the people for the mistress of War
Being the one who beholds the Bow of the Word hence fore
And the Knight of the Word who has without a bearing name
Who wield the Sword of Sin where evil is nay to remain}

Premium Member All I Want Is Your Love

This day has resulted to something I have to confess.
I am greatly and deeply in Love with you.
My soul ponders anytime I just think of you.
Your face has increased the number of chambers my heart has.
I long to be your groom,, while you be my Bride.

Your beauty have I known right from time past,
and admired ever since I saw you.
I will feel so Jealous if you commit yourself to some one else.
And your time, shared grossly with another,
even if that person is your family.

Come to my empire of Love,
which flows with wonders of happiness and peace.
Give me the chance to prove to you,
that Love actually takes two to manifest.
come into my arms which are wide open
and feel the passionate warmth of my embrace.

Just as in all the books of Love.
My kisses overflow with the deepest passion of everlasting desires.
Desires not of lust,, nor of unquenching taste.
But that of fullness,, completeness and fulfillment.

I may be using too many big words here.
or using figurative expressions in this sincere letter of mine.
or even trying to make it look like a poem.
But all in all, I just want to say one thing.
I LOVE YOU LIKE I HAVE NEVER LOVED BEFORE

This is a special letter, coming from a special person
To another special person, on a special timing.
I really want to be that special person in your life
The one who will be your everything.

Your man, your soul mate, your dream
Your desires, your passion, your life.
Your present, your future, your hope,
Your love, your happiness, your peace.
Your laughter, your inspiration, your joy.

I want to be there for you always even when I am not there.
I want to store my name and soul in your heart
So that wherever you are ,there I will be also.

After God, I want you to be next in my Life.
I want you to want me and love me like I do.
I want our feelings to be complementary to each other.
All my wants and needs sum up to one thing.
I want to have your love.

Just give me the chance to be your man
To be your one and only.
To be everything you had ever wanted
I don’t know how else to say this
And this is becoming too plenty to be real.

And not even a million scriptures
with a million pages each are enough
for me to express a negligible amount
of how I need you and feel towards you;
even if this is too voluminous to remember,
Just remember one thing sweet heart,
And that is………..
I LOVE YOU BABY.

Meet on The Highway of Hope

I stand on the highway of hope getting ready for the train to go on a trip to the mountain sphere, the passengers are pouring in, the seats are filling up, and everyone is in a mad rush. What on earth is going on? The passengers have been here before the break of dawn and excitement is all over the lawn. The cities and towns are flooded with lights and everyone has made an early sacrifice, smiles and laughter are everywhere and the people have nothing to fear. The highway of hope is taking me to the show, you can get an all-inclusive ticket wherever you go; you have a ticket for the train ride, the theatre, restaurant, cinema, the football games or just to go jogging up the lane. You have tickets to go shopping or to work out at the gym; there is a bus and a train for everything and there is one reserved only for music, singing and dancing. You can ride the bus or train any time of the day and your mornings and evening will never waste away, every ticket you buy will contribute to the blue sky and your donations will not die. Meet me at the highway of hope and I will show you where to go, the mood has change and joy is spreading everywhere. If you have nothing to do, put some snack in a bag and join the picnic train, and view all the terrain. The goal is to make a million in an hour and leave the sorrows in the showers. You will have something formidable to look forward to at the end of the day and your burdens and stress will surely roll away. Come with me to the highway of hope and join, the campaign fundraising train .Every ticket you buy will raise my ambition; every train you ride will elevate you to the sky, the numbers are growing and the passengers are swelling and my life has just begun. I have five-dollar tickets, ten-dollar ticket, a thousand- dollar tickets and any money tickets. There is a bus and train for every price and someone to show you how to roll the dice. If you don’t want to ride the train, the bus will do the same; a hundred bus and a hundred train is parked up on the highway of hope in every state so buy your tickets and join the masquerade. The goal is to make a hundred and fifty million dollars a day in the all inclusive bus and train ride on the highway of hope in all the fifty states so join the fundraising effort before it's too late.

Meet me on the highway of hope anytime of the day and don't delay.
