I Close My Eyes and Count To Ten

I close my eyes and count to ten
Hoping, praying, begging
That by some grace of God
my heart will stop loving you

As the earth shatters
Each shed of glass cutting deeper
I beg and plead that the pain will end
So
I close my eyes and count to ten

As darkness grabs me by the throat
And I struggle to keep hold
There is only one way that I can see the light
So,
I close my eyes and count to ten

As I fall into oblivion
As the fire of hell bursts into my eyes
As tears of acid burn down my cheeks
It is only you that I think,
When,
I close my eyes and count to ten

Why is it that when there is nothing but pain
I think of you to light the way
Why is that when I begged God
To forget you
It is only because of you that
I believe that there is a God

I can’t understand yet I still,
Close my eyes and count to ten

Premium Member A Ten Star Restaurant

If there's one thing I have a weakness for

It's a restaurant that gets my vote for these ten simple reasons

ONE... the ambience when you walk in

TWO... a friendly greeting from a beautiful receptionist lady

THREE... a cozy table in a quiet corner

FOUR... a gorgeous waitress

FIVE... a menu that has every dish you've ever dreamed of

SIX... a gorgeous waitress

SEVEN... reasonable prices

EIGHT... a gorgeous waitress

NINE... amazing food and presentation

TEN... a gorgeous waitress

BOTTOM LINE... you guessed it, a gorgeous waitress!

Premium Member Ten Outta Ten Ain'T Bad

Another spanking new day has begun
Filled with exciting things to do
Like shopping and spending piles of dough
I'm sure it applies to you

It's the way of the world, it's how it works
No one said it would be easy
Just look up yonder at that fiery red ball
Today will be bright and breezy

All is copacetic, everything's seems fine
Copacetic as it's meant to be
Have I ever lied to you before my friends
My trustfulness is guaranteed

Okay, not every day will be a winner
But ten outta of ten ain't bad
Smile at the world, it will surely smile back
I have nothing more to add

1. The most important day of my life was birth,
  2. and the day I got married, oh, that was amazing.
    3. But my love has gone away just a name engraved.
      4. I gave birth twice and my babies never saw the sky,
         5. The day I graduated nursing school was very special.
           6. But the most important thing to me has not happened,
             7. I have a feeling it will be the last time- I close my eyes.
                8. When I step into another realm where my beloved wait.
                  9. Yes, that will be it for this girl, the day I meet the Lord,
                     10. and find the answer to why I was born . . . . . . . . . .

You Make Ten Million Look Like Ten Bucks

Last week two wonderful things happened to me.
I married you and I also won the lottery.
You became my wife and I won ten million dollars, that was incredibly good luck.
But when I compare the money to you, you make ten million look like ten bucks.
No amount of money can be as important as the love that we share.
I need your love and companionship as much as I need food and air.
If I hadn't won that money, I'd still be a rich man because I have you.
I love you more than life itself and I hope you feel that way about me too.
Through thick and thin, I'll love you and I'll never leave your side.
Ten million bucks is great but it's nothing compared to having you for my bride.

After Two Scores and Ten

After two scores and ten, a stranger met a weary soul,
With scattered hair and a faded face, resembling a ghost.

“We have crossed paths before, I am certain,”
the stranger said in a trembling voice.
“Years of struggle have passed,
yet the standards of our nation have fallen low.

That is why a teacher like me appears this way.
Education has been handed over to businessmen
who honor no principles
and worship only money.

These wrinkles and crooked fingers
reflect the sickness of our social fabric.
We have lost our dignity
and the very purpose of our lives.

Now we labor endlessly,
chasing money in lonely silence.
The knowledge that once enlightened us
is now disregarded and disgraced.

Our goals have shifted,
our direction is lost.
Teachers are mocked, stripped of respect,
while the corrupt and notorious
are honored instead.

In a gentle but solemn voice,
the stranger declared:
“Pakistan must mend its ways
if it wishes to save the heart of education.”

With that, the stranger stepped out of the dark jungle
onto the straight path,
where light shone brightly
from the right corner of the forest.

Way Back When I Was Ten

Way back when I was ten
There was once my old good friend
Her name sounds like a musical key
Everyone called her Melody

We’re young and wild to laugh things over
Ran on grasses bringing bags and a clover
Couldn’t quite forget the small talks in room
Play hide and seek inside the classroom

I found my best friend when I was ten
Still remember our childhood days quite more often
I wonder where the world Melody is hiding
Years went by since I haven’t seen her face smiling

Is there a chance to see her again?
Hope we’ll see soon before Earth comes to an end
Melody! Melody! Where are you now?!
Searching for you way back ago till now.

Premium Member At Age Ten

On this October's mild stirrings
I watched ached nights flicker, to glow
Around his hair like angel wings
Recalling joyrides... so mellow.
That in hushed tones,I called Gramps' name
Enshrined within my youth's warm space...
My hands folded with love aflame,
While prayers spilled through chill's embrace.
Though failing heart quivered in ticks,
Faith...way back then when I was ten
Gripped, he was nearing sixty six
As prayers trailed,wafting amen.

Until spring came, Gramps' flare restored
With new life blessed from harbor's ward.

Ten Lines from Ten Poems Entry - Crumbling Memory

I've always had the sneaking suspicion I'd never grow old.
I'm decaying prematurely,
slowly rotting in my core with every mind-numbing day.
"Why must every good thing get ruined?"
Home is no longer where happy is.
So why have you staked your claim on my psyche?
Cold blue tile is the foundation from which two children build their world.
I can discern from it nothing but terrifying probabilities.
Everything has an end.
Here we are timeless.

Poems selected (some from this account, some from another, some never posted):
1. Blue Marker Castles
2. Decaying Prematurely
3. Saturday, December 22nd
4. Words I'll Never Say
5. ComeHoming - Matthew 15:4
6. On Cybercoercion
7. Airport Cherubs
8. Winter's Warning
9. Who am I without achievement?
10. Nothing really changes in an airport

Premium Member Way Back Then When I Was Ten

I was shot by Cupid's tainted dart
And puppy love awakened my sleeping heart
Tried to impress with exaggerated tales
Mark the box letters sent through the mail

Hunted and fished for sport and food
Baseball games with the neighborhood crew
Dirt always flying from old gravel roads
Wearing my brother's, hand me down clothes

Baseball cards popping bicycle spokes
Stealing the babysitter's pack of smokes
Riding my bike to the nearest creek
Stripping off my clothes to the water I'd streak

Change from my Sunday suit after church
Running around in just shorts with no shirt
Family meals three times a day
Each time we'd all bow our heads and pray

Lied about it all with two crossed fingers
Dad finding out meant a real humdinger
Turn around and do it all over again
Way back then when I was ten
