("Dreaming Gaia", 2020, original encaustic)
Good Night Irene, Sweet Dreams
We live in a time of two competing visions;
The creation myths of sudden and gradual change,
Or monotheism’s creationism on one hand
And scientific materialism’s evolution the other.
Both spring from the same source
Of course,
The human mind in general
And Eastern Mediterranean cultures in particular.
In this way they are part of the same continuum
Steps along a single ascending path,
Not actually mutually exclusive
But still wildly at odds.
But what about a third option,
The option of a changeless nature?
This is the view from outside of time and mind
Which being changeless has consistency on its side.
This is the door that leads to a holographic universe,
The matrix of a dream within a dream within a dream…
Being dreamed by who knows who
Who just happens to go by the name, me and you.
Really weird sh*t you say,
But as they also say, truth is often
Stranger than fiction
And it’s clear the two main competing myths are fiction.
So there it is, a 21st century view of Hegel’s dialectic
Thesis, antithesis and synthesis played out in real time
Simultaneously seeming, but actually existing
Only in the timeless now.
An enigma wrapped in a metaphor
Pretending to be a mystery, or something like that
Waiting for the dreamer to go back to sleep
So the dream can get back to the business of unfolding.

Look here, John, I did a thorough research
Inside, outside, up, down and all around
Facts, fables, hearsays and temple or church
Eager to know where mysteries abound
Stranger-than-fiction true and credible,
Mine and yours: life, death, God and the devil
Yet to grasp; to relate, impossible
Sages, prophets, saints – stringent or civil,
Torah or Bible, Koran or Gita
Eager to explain the meaning of soul
Rationalizing life's unique vista,
I believe life is beyond our control,
Easier it's to take life as it is
Sans all the mayhem and the mysteries.

Ardhnarishwar, Sanskrit word, little known
Male and female poles, within our form sown
One aspect active, the other dormant
Just as we are partially sentient
Seeds of head-heart balance, yet to be grown
In silence, we all feel magnetism warm
Five sheaths of consciousness adorn our form
Material, pranic, two minds and bliss
When aligned, manifests divine caress
Pulsating within, as a benign storm
The truth is indeed, stranger than fiction
Garnered easily, through meditation
If we choose to let go, we may get to
Truth of Gods breath, which within us renews
Divine union birthing bliss elation
We see around, sacred geometry
Ardhnarishwar; our form in harmony

Truth’s stranger than fiction;
we speak of purring bliss,
felt within at our core,
rapturous divine kiss,
we hear of in folklore.
Truth’s stranger than fiction;
sound of one hand clapping,
within heart ovoidal,
soma nectar dripping,
bliss currents toroidal.
Truth’s stranger than fiction;
we’re not body but soul,
here for an earth sojourn,
playing our assigned role,
as ways of love we learn.
Truth’s stranger than fiction;
from God there’s no distance,
if we but slow thought flow,
ending our resistance,
His light within will glow.

Stranger than fiction.
Do you think about us now and then, or am I completely gone?
Do you remember the love I sent, when you hear a certain song?
Or am I a victim of your love, lost to the next one?
Did I fall away and simply fade, like the smoke we used to smoke?
Did I make you laugh in my own way, or am I just something you broke?
I guess I’ll always remember the loving words that you spoke.
If there was a way I could see you again, do you reckon that I would?
If there was a time when you were on my mind,
Do you think my thoughts would turn out to be good?
Or are you just a constant reminder to me, as to what I never want?
I would tell you truths, back when I thought I knew you,
But the truth is I never really did.
I could wish for us and a way to trust,
But that time for me no longer exists.
Just like a dagger, you ripped me apart.
I wanted to thank you for all that you are,
But now all you are is a bad memory.
Remember that you never really had me.
You had a limited version of my love,
You are so fugazi to me.
I would soak you up like you were my favourite drug,
But just being near you was killing me.
You stand there a stranger, a stranger to me.
Now I couldn’t be happier, because you were only temporary.
You had half my love and even that was too much.
You are nothing now, so unworthy.
Go and read my books, take another look at love.
I want you to see clearly, what you have lost.
You were secondary, now just a memory.
I couldn’t write you love stories,
Because you never even loved me.

"Gaslit"
Truth they say
is sometimes
stranger than fiction
Fiction they say
is sometimes
the tonic to escape
Blue Pill?
Red Pill?
which one to take
before one considers
it is all too late
Faith they say
is belief without
proof
A leap for some
caught in the
wrinkle of it all
We walk our days
immersed in what
we think is real
we shun and
turn away
from the talk
Gaslighting
and the abysmal
moral disengagement
false projections
buried we are locked in
the old stories never end
egos burnt to ashes
finger on the forehead
marks noticed and felt
it all begins, a new story
what it’s really all about
some believe, most doubt
Truth they say
is sometimes
stranger than fiction
Life is what you want it to be
The old stories end
A new way of thinking begins
A new way of being begins

So who do you look up too?
Wishing you could repeat their acts of daring do!
Dying to escape your self build shell,
Dreaming that you were like Constantine in the realm of hell.
When real life is getting you down.
Day dreaming you were Spiderman webbing up the town.
Reality the daily struggle we face.
Faster than the Flash trying to get ahead of the rat race.
Truth is stranger than fiction.
Have faith in the strength of your convictions.
Know that no matter how small we feel.
Everyone is going through their own ordeal.
So remember every day be strong.
Swimming through humanities daily throng.
Heroes they need heroes too.
You're a hero to me I know thats true.
I sat next to an old geezer on a park bench
He looked at me, said "I can see you're a mensch"
Let me tell you what I've learned in the past 80 years.
"Oh no", thought I, but his words flew like spears:
"Who can fathom the deviousness of the heart
To know the mind from the face, there is no art.
Woe unto them that call evil good, take it as a clue
If they can't anchor themselves in the obviously true
Some claim darkness is light, and light dark
If you follow that lighthouse, you'll end up in a shark.
Prepare in advance, no practice leads to error
A peaceful scene then sudden terror
Never underestimate the fury of the wicked
It will come, as the prophet predicted.
You can work too hard, and not work smart
Get your sleep, take a walk, create some art
Your health must survive any deadline
Nothing achieved when a sprint is followed by decline.
The old man paused, took a sip of juice
Maybe this was my chance to break loose
I looked for a polite way to flee
But I was exhausted from my weekly game of Rugby.
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue
Words can cut deep even if sweetly sung.
There is no safety for good men, but to believe the worst of those
who when given two paths, the evil one chose.
Be slow to anger, make sure you understand
Incompetence rather than evil, often rules the land.
If a man comes to kill you, kill him first,
But seek truth and be wise, lest the roles reversed.
Do unto others as you want them to do unto you
Often they want their side heard, their point of view.
Hear out the extreme, the foreign, the new
For in the unexpected, there may be wisdom to pursue.
Hypocrisy is the tribute vice gives to what's good
We can't always live up to what we should
"And last," he said earnestly "I must preach
To think before talking, be concise in speech
Don't give strangers advice, for all our sakes
Especially if like me, you made endless mistakes
Be aware of your own contradictions
Know that reality is stranger than fiction.
"Thanks geezer", I said, "but I gotta go
"In the rugby game of life, you must have been a pro
In my hurry to leave my foot fell into a drain
All that advice, and now I have a sprain.
When did I start believing in reincarnation?
When it was presented to me in fiction.
Truth is reality itself is stranger than fiction.
Atoms are only a made-concrete projection.
When did I come to reach this conclusion?
When I finally see we co-create the simulation.
All is light and sound, all of it is an illusion.
"Illu" as in illuminated, "sion," as in confusion.
We're all victims of our own subtle delusion
That we are less than God's ultimate fusion.
When we realize we are one, we'll reach union.
We'll see God is all of us if we just look within.
We exist eternally, always worthy of affection,
But at times we must earn through reflection.
So when did I start believing in reincarnation?
When I seen cycles of time through divination.
What’s going on at the Co op
Its been cordoned off, with some tape
The police have a ten strong contingent
Was it robbery, murder or rape ?
We telephoned Lynn cos she works there
But it turned out she’d had the day off
She wasn’t too well, by her voice you could tell
And every so often she’d cough
The policemen were not very helpful
As they stood and they guarded the door
But looking between, their two legs, gabardine
I could swear there was blood on the floor
The rumours were rife “ someone stabbed with a knife”
A robbery, someone got shot
A terrorist gang, going out with a bang
Was there truth in these tales, there was not
For fact is far stranger than fiction
There’s no murderer, on the rampage
Just a poor little beast enjoying a feast
A small creature, escaped from its cage
It was just after two when the men
From the Zoo, arrived in a van with a gun
Said “ we’ve been ‘ere before, hold open the door
We’ll soon put an end to his fun”
Going down with a thump and a dart in his rump
Spread-eagled he lay on the deck
No one thought that this ape would ever escape
Or would be such a pain in the neck
Now he’s back in the great ape enclosure
He’s a hero of cunning and guile
Regaled by the others, both sisters and brothers
On his face, fixed, a permanent smile
