Animals feel love, empathy, and pain;
traits that I have noticed over the years.
Dogs have so much love, it's hard to contain
they revel in your joys, and mourn your tears:
and as your best friend, they console your fears.

I've seen my cat react when I'm depressed;
snuggling up to my face, she comforts me.
And when she senses I'm worried or stressed
she'll soulfully lay her head on my knee;
her empathy displayed for all to see.

I saw a bear, its leg chafed by a chain;
and I could almost feel its rage and fear
while folks laughed, as it glowed and roared in pain.
Its plight broke my heart, and I shed a tear:
the agony it felt was crystal clear.

Animals share the same feelings we do,
I have confirmed this through observation.
But Man has never given them their due:
starting with the story of creation,
they've been subjected to subjugation.

Days Like These

There are not a lot of moments
 To find me truly belonging
 Criticize, or console does not matter much
 With what these days are soulfully bringing.

 Days like these, left me thinking
 And the mind gets over fear, slowly.
 As somewhere, someone perceives too
 That there is another side of an expression.

 Days like these, left me thinking
 And the mind gets over fear, slowly.
 Empty trashcan, cleaner spaces
 Waiting as white as a new page.

 On a restaurant, we were together
 Water spilled everywhere,
 None other than my naughty one was giggling
 For The boy who was working there.

 Days like these, left me pondering
 Of bullies wrapped in the hype of welfare
 Going nowhere, feeling nothing near
 Still added a space, like a blown wish, there.

Plumage

"Plumage"

We are the iridescent gems
kicked like rubble
gifts to give

we walk souls
in dead bodies
all colours, plumage to be free

accepted our truth,
is shunned by the better ones
we are viewed obscenities

integrity takes courage
honesty by the beautiful ones
broken down by frowning whispers

bits of us shine
put together again macrami shame
hung around our necks

we are
a puzzle
considered feigned

by the holier than thous
discouraged
we are love that is hidden, pain

Love is Love
Life is Life
inside comes out

eventually
different coloured feathers
freely given flight

brighter than ordinary
what is expected tries
so many times, tears cry

windows open
credence to be seen
uncovered jewels that glisten

soulfully divine
in Divinity’s eyes
Heaven listens

"Whispering that same prayer
half a million times
It's a lie, though
buried in disciples
One page of the Bible
isn't worth a life
There's something wrong
in the village,
In the village..."

Premium Member He Makes a Way

When your heart feels low and alone
And no one is a friend that you know
There is one who will be there to atone
His love is alive with a fire that is aglow

When your spirit feels less sure of love
And your worries are troubling with distrust
There is One who lives with God up above
Who sends us assurance through angel dust

When your life is left feeling so depressed
And you don’t really know where to turn
There is One who will make you feel blessed
He shows you, through love, His full concern

When your hope has lost its ability to dream
And you feel like you can’t believe in a thing
Know that God can create a completely new theme
Something so inspiring that it will make you sing

When your faith leaves you feeling like you’ve lost
And you don’t know where to get a new song
Although you may never know the real cost
God sent His Son down to pay for all your wrong

When your creativity seems to be gone away
And you can’t find the words you need to say
Know that God will brighten your heart and way
With renewed words, vision that will be put on display

When your love seems to have left your heart
And you don’t know what to do to get love back
God knows just how you feel; He’ll give a new start
So that you won’t have to feel alone or soulfully lack

Premium Member Hello Intrepid Reader of Poetry

Hello intrepid reader of poetry.
Nice of you to drop in.
I would offer you a diet soda,
And a few tokes of the ganja out in the garage,
but I am not there, and you aren’t here; so that’s that.
Nevertheless, this blank document is where I find substantial solace,
Away from the insane oozing organism,
Called Life, here in this fast-paced sojourn from point A to point B, alas
There is some truth lurking inside the small trivial things,
which tug at our sinking sanity, daily.
One hour after waking up,
we are planning dinner;
The highlight of another typical day.
But you, intrepid reader of poetry,
these are not your ways, nor your thoughts.
For you have significant work to accomplish,
important people to meet and enjoin;
Long books to read, and letters of importance to answer,
Then, another night of soft sleep to be had,
With dour dreams that never presage anything epic,
Never tasting anything with “sour misfortune’s book,”
Although at times, we must wonder.
So, you like poets? Here is my card:
As you can see, I am just another word dandy and time traveler,
Walking and traipsing this amazing planet, like you,
Like all the others who found the Muse and lent an ear, but
Are we not of the same splendid gardens?
The same fountains east of the eucalyptus trees?
Are we not of the gentle immortals,
who soulfully now reside in the secret shadows?
Will you now walk with me down this still path.
To the back house, out amongst the ivy trellises swooning in silence?
So, are you still there my friend?
My intrepid reader of poetry?
Did my latest poetic plunge bore you beyond all human tolerance?
Did you just waste two minutes of your time that you will never get back,
while reading this forgettable attempt at poetry writing?
So, where is everyone going tonight?
Any parties? Any ladies looking for a little nookie in the dark?
Hello honey. Nice of you to drop in.
What do the clientele call you around here?
Hi Vixen, care for a diet soda?

Premium Member Luna Glory Says Goodnight! Moon

As the warm sun begins to set
Fading on the far horizon
Ole Man Moon begins his assent
Luna Glory's beauty turns on

Greeting harvest moon with Goodnight
She shines in delight with her white
In love to glow forever bright
Their relationship great delight

Lunar are you jealous my dear
Of your cousin Morning Glory
She is colorful in blue clear
You are beauty white flowery

That relationship between you
And Mr. Moon when you greet sweet
He brings out the best that is true
At night when you soulfully meet

Snuggle down between soft starlight
That blankets the sky and the ground
Softly two kiss cheek to cheek right
The reward is seedlingly on the mound

Premium Member POWER OF THE IVORIES

POWER OF THE IVORIES
~~~~~~~~~~~
I wrote this poem as a remembrance of my mother. Even when macular degeneration and diabetes took her eyesight, she continued playing her beloved piano. I often sat adjacent to her, watching her arthritic fingers dance pirouettes across the 88 ‘blacks and whites,’ lost in creativity and the music. Her pain temporarily dissolved, and she was at peace in her musical heaven, soulfully content.
She walks into the empty room
and sits down on the stool;
her heart engulfed with grief and gloom
from life that has been both kind and cruel.
She knows that she must persevere
though things seem dark and grey;
then wipes away a single tear
as she begins to play.
Familiar music soon takes flight,
her sorrows start to lift;
and so she plays into the night
and feels the music’s gift.
At last, she plays a soft reprise
and feels her gloom depart;
true solace found in ivory keys
That mended her broken heart!
S/he listens for powerful words
and hears deeper moving sounds
resonant sighs
empowering peace replies
corroborated with his eyes.
I see Her capitalized nurture meaning
and trust what remains visible
long after forgetting short-lived
persuasive
weaponized purposes he has veiled
and she unveils
Especially when sight
displays dissonance
betraying trusted
faithful sensate confluence
Without faithless flaws
bad-humored rumors
mistrusted words
vicious circling tumors
not consonant
with what I can hear
and see nonviolently
however nonverbally
with sacred communion eyes
To perceive
compassion
slowly disregarding fear
of chronic
addictive win/lose compulsive problems
regardless of past disempowering angers
without unguarded win/win passions.
When I can see Her story
I can hear my narrative
spiritually unfold
naturally inside
MetaPhysically where
and sacred when
and soulfully why
s/he speaks
through his lovely
wholesome brown closed sighs
opening regretful blue sky eyes
And listens with unguarded ears
to words for power's integrity
communionating robust agency,
and not against win/win vivacity,
Widening deeper
enlightening
elegant round unsound
intricately felt soul-filled sounds
Intimately touched trust
resiliently seen as heard
resonant resounds.
Premium Member Body Language
The body language of my dog, about his only way
To tell me what is going on, and how he spent his day
He smiles at me and shows his teeth, it goes against the grain
He knows I do it when I'm happy, so he does it once again
But then the times when things go wrong, his guilty look displays
He tells me that he's sorry, with drooped ears won't meet my gaze
He slinks around the corner, pretending he's not there
Don't worry boss I will be good, keep right out of your hair
Then he thinks time for a stroll, brings his lead to me
Puts it down right at my feet, and gazes soulfully
If he thinks I take no notice, then he goes into plan B
Brings the lead a little closer, puts a paw up on my knee
Now let us say we did the walk, he rolled in something foul
He knows that I don't like it, he can recognise a scowl
I start to run his doggy bath, good gosh he's on the lam
How come the baths a problem, when he loves a freezing dam
The wife comes home when work is done, he'll park outside the door
How does he know she will be home, if he waits five minutes more
Now if the kids they make a mess, I ask him did you do it
He wanders round so unconcerned, he knows no way he blew it
Then the times when one of us, is feeling quite unwell
He will lay down right beside us, if we're sick then he can tell
So that's all body language, and to put another way
I may not be a human, but I can still have my say
