You Shall See the Dusk and Dawn- Part 3

Though these words are all true
I never knew how much they meant
They’re the makings of my diary
Which is compiling with my every whim
And I know the future seems grim
When the sun descends the light goes dim
Don’t you fret the moon will lend itself as a night light
But on some nights the sun will refuse to stay out of sight
The moonlight is eclipsed and I seal my lips
And the moon drips over the blackened star
Two crypts in an endless galactic battle
Opposites attract desperately trying to complete what the other might lack
Like the light of day and the black of night
You see you must contrast if you hope to create a masterpiece
Or at the very least a memory that will last
Life’s a struggle to surpass the work of the last great man
So my tongue rattles in its cage
My eyes gage the force
My blood courses
And my mind divorces the eyes that I use to see
Because they can’t quite see how the world is
But only as the world should be
Again I flee into the mind that I find comfort
In charring with the riggers of battle lines
Drawn out in some fine print
Making the eyes bend and squint
I’m in less than mint condition
This is less than efficient
I’ve barely christened the issues that are on the line

And I paint some pictures withe the fixtures that dangle from my beautiful mind
So I might bind your thoughts
You may even find some truth or maybe some excuse to go on
Maybe to find a new way to look at dusk and dawn
So maybe drag the old rusty beach chair onto the lawn
See with new eyes what you already saw
If you can’t find strength to walk
Just muster up some strength just crawl
If you should happen to fall get up and stand tall
And if your thoughts should turn to death
Don’t count your breaths take a rest
Just remember the times the air was stolen from your lungs
Our lives begun so small and the world so huge
But now our bones are fused and the isn’t as it use to be
You must realize that the earth is massive but your world is small
None of us can expect to understand it all
Again I find myself on the brink catastrophe
These words might mean a lot to you
But let me reassure you they mean much more to me

Premium Member Yesterday When I Was Dumb - a Benign Parody By T Wignesan

YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS DUMB - A Benign Parody

(with sincere enough apologies and more to those who made the original composition an all-time great. T. Wignesan)

Refrain :

Yesterday when I was dumb
I couldn't tell a song from any sore thumb
All the tunes I hummed with my silent tongue
Were but tinnitus on my ear-drums sweet songs I sung
All the pretty frisky girls passed me quickly by
Yet I don't know why I couldn't even cry

I couldn't remember the sounds made by warbling birds
Nor the thunderous laughter I heard bursting from the clouds
All the songs I learnt line by line by heart
Kept mocking me in the stillness of my thoughts

(Refrain)

The wintry winds I weathered in my feathered bed
Warmed by lilting melodies in my love-sick head
All the words of songs lame casualties on my tongue
I could not sleep nights heaving on one lone lung
In my dreams I tussled with girls sticking out their tongues
I lisped some sounds like grunts to appease their wrongs
But I'd as lief be made a clown sans papier-mâché crown
Than be mocked by childhood girls I rolled atop meadow down

(Refrain)

Each full day I prayed for the right word to come to mind
Nothing doing ! I always mixed and twisted words on the line
Then I always drop shut the shutters, drew the curtains tight
Shut myself up in the shower to croon some line just right
" No bloody use " the misted mirror said : " You cannot win a Grammy "
" Oh ! What use is a tongue if it cannot taste the kiss of melody ! "
I've lived so long to know there's only one way to say : " Goodbye ! "
No words on lines nor tunes, just a look, a wave of a hand and a sigh !

(Refrain)

Yesterday I was dumb but today I have my own pounding tom-tom
With signs and signals to speak the language of the drum
And the orchestra sweeps over strings and the smiling moon
And I no longer seek to put words on line to croon
Oooh ! Yesterday ! I felt the stings in the cockles of my heart
Yet today I sing blood red the sounds surging through the chart
Oooooh Oooooh…. Yesterdaaay….

Pain As a Hobby V

Reverse time and take it out it out of the universe!
I’m stamping you null and void
You got a lot to say but you’re not talking about much
It shouldn’t take you so long to come up with such
Non sense
Talk about something relevant and provoke thought
Is wisdom so hard to obtain
Stay away
The way I put words together remind me of the way God put the Earth together
Nothing missing and everything in place
The way I mix the spiritual with the natural
means i have superpowers
call it the spirit of discernment
I can see pass three dimensional
To say I aint lyrical is like saying religion is going away one day
It doesn’t make sense
Nope never I’m here to stay
You believe in something and when a whole bunch of people feel the same way
I am born
I got arms and legs and I’m growing
Without a bomb on me I’m blowing up
No one is allowed to use the pronoun “I’, followed by the words “like” and “as”
It belongs to me now
Pay me every time it slips out your mouth
Just like insurance all I state is there
I don’t care about your feelings right now
I’m arrogant I know and you wish me the best of luck
I know
But my charismatism makes sure I don’t get into a crash
I can’t get out of
God broke the mold when he created me so it is only right I give
You originality
Pain as a hobby
Why didn’t I think of that
Look in the mirror if you dare
And see where I’m at
This is the most powerful writing I ever done
My ex’s can be proud to say I use to f*** with him
“Yeah, I left him, he was too controlling.” Period,
Comma dot I’m innocent.
When all I ever wanted was you to do better than me
So that way all the pressure doesn’t fall on me
Not to brag about what I have done and what I’m doing but
I’m the one that co-signed for you to go to school
I listen to too much rap music that’s why I have a nice flow
I know what you’re thinking before you thought it
Name all the things you have done for me
I can do the math
I got a 100% in Algebra and my recall is great to be modest
But you swear so much like you were there in the delivery room
Helping my moms push

Premium Member Looking For My Elton John

I know I'm no Bernie Taupin
so, DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART
I know my lyrics are simple
every poet needs a place to start

I may not be Bernie Taupin
I didn't write CROCODILE ROCK
but, I know that I too can write the words
I just need my Elton John

I may not be Bernie Taupin
he wrote GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD
my mind works in easier concepts
no "hunting the horny back toad".

I may not be Bernie Taupin
creator of BENNIE AND THE JETS
but I can write a love song
of a life lived with no regrets

I may not be Bernie Taupin
his hits are way more than a few
I may not have an answer to his TINY DANCER
but I've danced a mad tango or two

I may not be Bernie Taupin,
I didn't write YOUR SONG
It turned out to be, a song for everybody
and not just for THE ONE

I may not be Bernie Taupin,
who wrote CANDLE IN THE WIND,
he struck gold the second time for Diana
the first time was for Marilyn

I may not be Bernie Taupin
by now that's not really news,
but I too can write a sad, sad song
so, I GUESS THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT THE BLUES

I may not be Bernie Taupin
and the ROCKET MAN is out of touch
but my sad songs also have merit
because SAD SONGS SAY SO MUCH

I may not be Bernie Taupin,
but, I'M STILL STANDING here with NIKITA
Bernie can make a hit out of anything
even going with DANIEL, to eat pizza

I may not be Bernie Taupin
but I write footloose and fancy free
maybe it's not like PHILADELPHIA FREEDOM
but hey! DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME

Bernie and Elton would both say
that it's been no SACRIFICE
and, SOMEONE SAVED MY LIFE TONIGHT
were lyrics that just felt right

It's been an amazing partnership
almost 50 years and still going strong
Bernie Taupin writes awesome lyrics
but the music is all Elton John.

So, I may not be Bernie Taupin
but I can write lyrics to a song, but
a song needs music and a melody
guess, I'll keep waiting for my Elton John.

Memory Lane

The sun falls fast from where it’s at.
I just lit my favorite match; I’ll burn it all away.
Burn it all away, my words and papers.
My words and papers I’ll burn them all away,
The promises, they never meant that much to you anyway.

The warm water rushes down my face.
I promised you, you’d never see me this way again.
But you build your house with my deck of cards,
Sorting out your King and Queen,
Are you finally proud with what you’ve made?

And when you’re in need of consolation
Your voice in constant ringing I leave with no hesitation.

I turn the key and tread the road
Rushing to reach what will never be.
I’ve been here before I’ll be here again
Pushing the pedal further traveling down Memory Lane.

They don’t ask me why when I sleep at night
There’s no one there laying at my side
And I’m all alone
They ask me how I sleep at night
When the lights go out, I hold her close
And feel more alone.

Some bridges just can’t burn.

Laying here vibrating the strings singing the same old songs.
Days go by and I remember all the strings I tried sever.
Each night I sow these threads and you pull the strings
But I can’t mend these lines forever
I will always remember every time I tried, never losing sight
Should I? Could I? Cut the line the time.

Every time you cry I drive, running far from the back of mind
Speeding down the highway, going, knowing I’ll never find what’s mine.

And I’ll keep traveling down the same stretch of road;
Memory Lane, knowing it will but hoping it won’t,
Fuel another trip again.

I'M Gonna Write

Poet: Ken Jordan
Poem: I'm Gonna Write
Edited by: Sparkle Jordan
written: August/1988

I'm gonna write about
my grandmama -

I'm gonna write about
my mama -

I'm gonna write about
my love......

What I'm gonna do,
and
must do,

Is write about
all
black women
in the world -

About how
warm
caring
understanding,
and
resourceful
a black woman
is -

While um write'n
I ain't
gonna leave
out noth'n -

I'm gonna write about
her hair,
cause her hair
is beautiful -

About here eyes
cause
Lord knows,
her earthy
brown eyes
have seen
the vicious dogs
in the streets,

and
hydrants of hate
flood
through her
as though
she was nothing -

I'm gonna write about
Coretta Scott King,
and
all that her eyes
have seen -

About Winnie Mandela,
about Assata Shakur
about Rosa Parks -

And
while um write'n
I ain't gonna leave out
noth'in -

I'm gonna write about
a black woman's
strength
and
courage,

and how the
Underground
Railroad,
was born -

I'm gonna write about
a black woman's
vocabulary,
and
the words
that she speaks,

cause her words
are lived  words,

her words
are
song words......

"Life every voice and sing
till earth
and
heaven ring,"

I'm gonna write about
a black woman's
shoulder's,
cause her shoulder's
are strong!

I'm gonna write about
her hands,
cause her hands
have laboured
hard
and
long -

Like
Miss Jane Pittman
like
Harriet Tubman
like
Ida B Wells,

And
while I'm write'n
I ain't gonna leave
out noth'in-

I'm gonna write about
the fact
that she has endured
the test
of time -

She stands for hope
she stands for love
she stands for peace
she stands for freedom
she stands tall
and
She stands proud -

Write It Down

Write it down

Write it down, write it down,
Write it down when you are really down.

Write it down, write it down,
Write it down, when you are really down.

Or push them down, push them down,
Push those feelings deep, deep down.

If you are feeling worthless,
Write something that is priceless.
Be true to your words and say what you mean
And your words will leap from the paper and into the machine.

The machine that needs feeding, with feelings and thoughts;
Then you shall begin to write your own books.
Your bible of your time, your life in your own words;
Write it because you have to, or you want to, or write it for him or her.

Find a guitar man to sing your songs,
Get them to sing your words and sing along.

Kill the aesthetics, write something that means something.
Do not care about the consequences,
They cannot take offence if they never see it.

Upload your thoughts into the world-wide-web
And watch them drift off into the atmosphere
And change the atmosphere inside someone else’s head.

Make them think about what you write,
Because you know you are right
And maybe with a little insight,
They will agree or disagree;
But they will see the world through your eyes.

You can’t please all the people all the time,
So don’t attempt to please anyone but yourself.
Because your thoughts are right, to you they are correct;
Tell anyone with negative words to go to Hell.
Because this is what you believe;
But knowledge is power, so read and watch T.V.

He's Just Not That In Love With You

Have you ever felt the broken guitar string, and the way it slices veins? The words
that
slither from your lips cut and make me bleed just the same. As it slips into your
mouth
you savour every droplet on your many tongues. Before I turn to leave, you kiss
my wound
and breathe smokeless love into my lungs.

You’re just not it love with me, but its not something I claimed to be. I hate to hear
the girls that scream, “he’s just not that in love with, just not that in love with you.
Go on sweetie, find someone new.”

Everything I saw him touch turned to glass and cracked under his weight. Broken
promises
swung under his words that we’d meet again by fate. I loved him for his messy
hair, the
words that spilled from his mouth, he was my anarchist. I should have known it
could
never last when I tasted poison on his kiss.

You’re just not it love with me, but its not something I claimed to be. I hate to hear
the girls that scream, “he’s just not that in love with, just not that in love with you.
Go on sweetie, find someone new.”

You love from your oleander heart, tainted by your pastel poison. I wish someone
had
warned of the pain before I let it begin. Dripping into my bloodstream is the pulse
of
my regrets. I hate the day you said good bye, but I know I’ll never forget.

You’re just not it love with me, but its not something I claimed to be. I hate to hear
the girls that scream, “he’s just not that in love with, just not that in love with you.
Go on sweetie, find someone new.”

Premium Member The Master of the Rhyme

The Master Of The Rhyme
This was inspired by comments
made to me , by Great Poets
Peter Duggan and Olive Guillermo
And sung to the tune
Phantom Of The Opera's
"Music of The Night" by Andrew LLoyd Webber

Words that rhyme well--- serve to show my passion
Searching for the--- style that suits my fashion
Everything I see--- Is a poem meant for me
And I write it though it seems to be sublime
I truly am the master of the rhyme

While I’m sleeping--- in my mind come creeping
Filled with laughter--- mystery and weeping
Like an artist with his brush---I am filled with such a rush
And it paints a picture deep inside my mind
I wonder if I’m Master of the rhyme

Do you know who’s the Master of all known words
Do you know when he comes or where he goes
As He writes with my hands and through my soul
Whether it be a rhyme or it be prose

Written words--- start forming innuendoes
Join and bond--- then rise like a crescendo
When I awake I find--- this happens every time
I am just the name that must be signed
For I am not the Master of the rhyme

As I sit here staring at the empty page
He whispers in my ear again
I don’t know where the poem’s going to go
But, when I start the words begin to flow

Is It God, and is He on the level
Cursing me, as If I were the devil
Cause once I start to rhyme---the words begin to chime
Like a bell--- keeps ringing in my mine
He truly is the Master of the Rhyme

He alone holds the blessing---I make mine
For I am just a servant of the Rhyme

Premium Member Please Let Me Love You Tonight

Been sittin’ here thinkin’ all day long
Wantin’ to-say somthin’ that didn’t sound wrong
You walk around the corner and your smile meets mine
My heart starts racin’ like it does every time

I knew this could be a special night
Wanted it to work out just right
So I practiced the words all day
Had ‘em all arranged so I could say

Please let me love you tonight
Will you be my wife?
I want to be with you tonight
And the rest of my life
Please let me love you tonight

Her tears comin’ down were a sight to see
Took my hand smiled and said to me
You know I love you a lot
I don’t even know how to stop

I took her in my arms held real tight
My tears runnin’ down were quite a sight
Now we’re both cryin’ unsure why
Guess we knew this was for life

Please let me love you tonight
Will you be my wife?
I want to be with you tonight
And the rest of my life
Please let me love you tonight

We walked that night in the rain
Not really carin’ what we were sayin’
We were married on a warm day in May
Flowers everywhere scented the day

I said my vows as I looked in her eyes
Seeing only love no compromise
I’ll always remember that fine day
Me tryin’ to find the right words to say

Please let me love you tonight
Will you be my wife?
I want to be with you tonight
And the rest of my life
Please let me love you tonight

Yeah baby please let me love you tonight
Please let me love you tonight
You know I will for the rest of my life…

Some have asked about how song turned out. Check for on itunes under my name Shawn Sackman. Thanks.
