What Have I Done

Verse 1:
The kiss from temptation
And the sins that awaken
Are corrupting the innocence of youth
And taking over the knowledge of truth
New ideas are made so clear
Hiding the lies we hold so dear
Step by step losing sight
Of dangers made clear from the light

Chorus:
My God, My God!
What have I done
I can’t undo what I’ve become
When all these colors fade to gray
And I lose this light of day
I’m realizing it’s just a haze
I need to get out of these ways
My God, My God!
What have I done

Verse 2:
Remembering my failed hopes and dreams
Is even worse than what it seems
Always settling for less than the best
Has dragged me down to this mess
Hoping to have my slate wiped clean
Wishing this was all a dream

Chorus:
My God, My God!
What have I done
I can’t undo what I’ve become
When all these colors fade to gray
And I lose this light of day
I’m realizing it’s just a haze
I need to get out of these ways
My God, My God!
What have I done

Verse 3:
I thank you everyday
For showing me the way
In order to show your grace
You offered to take my place
No longer am I afraid of death
I will follow you till my last breath

Chorus:
My God, My God!
What have I done
I can’t undo what I’ve become
When all these colors fade to gray
And I lose this light of day
I’m realizing it’s just a haze
I need to get out of these ways
My God, My God!
What have I done

Caveat

Caveat
by Michael R. Burch

If only we were not so eloquent,
we might sing, and only sing, not to impress,
but only to enjoy, to be enjoyed.

We might inundate the earth with thankfulness
for light, although it dies, and make a song
of night descending on the earth like bliss,

with other lights beyond—not to be known—
but only to be welcomed and enjoyed,
before all worlds and stars are overthrown...

as a lover's hands embrace a sleeping face
and find it beautiful for emptiness
of all but joy. There is no thought to love

but love itself. How senseless to redress,
in darkness, such becoming nakedness...

Caveat Spender
by Michael R. Burch

It’s better not to speculate
"continually" on who is great.
Though relentless awe’s
a Célèbre Cause,
please reserve some time for the contemplation
of the perils of
EXAGGERATION.

The Beat Goes On (and On and On and On ...)
by Michael R. Burch

Bored stiff by his board-stiff attempts
at “meter,” I crossly concluded
I’d use each iamb
in lieu of a lamb,
bedtimes when I’m under-quaaluded.

Lacey

**Lacey Mosely of Flyleaf**

 You can't turn back the hands of time.
You can't give up because you feel so alone,
so abandoned, so useless, without a purpose in life.
He gave His life for you to live yours.
The troubled spirit haunting you silently lingers.

Lacey screams, her voice breaking free.
Forgive me, forgive me.
The truth echoing through,
forever in the light I will serve you.
Lacey sings, her voice eternally broken free.
I believe, I believe.

You found your path.
You know that you cannot change the past.
Broken within, you have found the courage to begin again.
Breathing as each day goes by,
you now know that you always had a purpose in this life.
You smile to yourself, and know that it is real.
Awakened you find the strength to heal.

Lacey screams, her voice breaking free.
Forgive me, forgive me.
The truth echoing through,
forever in the light I will serve you.
Lacey sings, her voice eternally broken free.
I believe, I believe.

Tonight she knows that she is free.
Lacey found the light.
Inside she screams.
Forgive me.
I believe, I believe.

Lacey screams, her voice breaking free.
Forgive me, forgive me.
The truth echoing through,
forever in the light I will serve you.
Lacey sings, her voice eternally broken free.
I believe, I believe.

Lacey sings,
her voice eternally broken free.
Jesus Christ, saved me.
I believe, I believe.

The Lark of Life.

In the green fields of Summer
I opened my eyes,
And dreamed of a time
Where I’d climb to the skies,
And as I grew up
With a song in my heart,
I knew it was time
For my dream to depart.

So I opened my wings
And I started on up,
For my song was my wine
While the air was my cup,
And as I looked down
To the place I was born,
The green fields were bathed
In the light of the dawn.

Then I sang such a song
In the vale of the day,
While my spirit kept faith
In a strange sort of way,
As I kept rising up
In my Abbey of blue,
I knew it was right
And I knew it was true.

The world that had borne me
Was far, far below,
At the birth of my dream
In the morning’s soft glow,
 And my song was aflame
With the fire of the sun,
As I started back down
To where I had begun.

I passed through the clouds
And my feathers were kissed,
With the light Summer rain
And the softness of mist,
I remembered my birth
As I fell through the haze,
In those green glowing fields
And those soft Summer days.

Then all of a sudden
I reached earth again,
And I looked to the sky
As I sought to explain,
How the ups and the downs
Of a life in the air,
Help my heart understand
How my life is a prayer…

Premium Member Riders On the Storm

Late August 1967 blue Sunday
Summer's almost gone
When I first hear the song Light My Fire
And feel the overwhelming urge to get up and dance
While my feet dare not to touch the earth
I remember like it was yesterday
Being just a lost little girl of thirteen
Primed to come of age
Taken with a wild haired and barefoot
Carefree wandering musician
And this sensational song echoing through my head
Spellbound fascinated mesmerized I remember
The precise moment I stepped into that new world
I had discovered The Doors ~

Hello, I love you, Jim on your tightrope ride
Breaking on through to the other side
It was an easy ride for a wild child
Then when the music's over
Strange days left us waiting for the sun
Leaving us lingering for the Indian summer
My eyes have seen you dancing the soft parade
Checking yourself out of the Morrison hotel
Humming the roadhouse blues down Love street
Compelled to join the infamous twenty-seven club
Like so many kindred riders on the storm
When full circle other voices in unison
Launch to high heavens an American prayer

You know I’m captive of your love
I know for sure you will never agree
In your sky I want to fly like a dove
Beyond horizon, you won’t see me.

Come on, darling, set me free
Come on, darling, set me free
Let me swim in sapphire sea free.

Time for swelling waves to shove
On the silver beach I want to be
Thru’ stardust you’ll glow from above
In the moonbeam I’ll be pearly debris.

Come on, darling, set me free
Come on, darling, set me free
Let me swim in sapphire sea free, yeah.

Time for swelling waves to shove
On the silver beach I want to be
Thru’ stardust you’ll glow from above
In the moonbeam I’ll be pearly debris.

Come on, darling, set me free
Come on, darling, set me free
Let me swim in sapphire sea free, yeah.

You know I’m captive of your love
I know for sure you will never agree
In your sky I want to fly like a dove
Beyond horizon, you won’t see me.

Come on, darling, set me free
Come on, darling, set me free
Let me swim in sapphire sea free
Let me swim in sapphire sea free
Let me swim in sapphire sea free
Let me swim in sapphire sea free.

Line of inquiry:

truth imbibed
awaits assimilation
we feel it in our bones
in time dissolved meditation

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the forest’s trees, though asleep, at twilight
they silently seek the stars who softly weep
glorious oaks with their gentle leaves so bright
laugh and tell tales of the mountains so steep
in the forest I glimpse a fanciful tune
written by the moss, the pines and the stones
hesitant winds lift the birds as they croon
against lazy shadows the river condones
at the edge of the world, where the pines sigh
there is a wonder unheard – still that abides
flying through the night, across a black sky
glad to know the grace that only love provides
midst the wildflowers, dancing in the fields
grows a melody so clear it cheers the soul
autumn’s breath defies the shower who yields
gifting forest’s captive with certain parole
in the light of still, unmoving musings
soars the ancient belief of those lost in praise
when the night falls, hearts collect their losings
glowing on the night is love that never strays
A Simply Fallen Angel
A simply fallen angel.
Who ventured to far from home.
She's been captured, bound, and stolen now.
Encased in precious stones.
She wept, slept and kept herself.
Away from worldly wrongs.
In a place of simple loneliness.
A place of simple song.
And Our simply fallen angel.
Who just won't believe.
I'm a lost ghostwell gathering.
Or treasure tossed out to sea.
Fallen to a pirate band.
Then recorded to CD.
As a simple song of simple hopes.
Of shining stars thought telescopes.
As hidden light behind the notes.
The music hides from man.
But as light flies from gem to gem.
You'll hear her holy singing voice.
And see her holy sin.
But she has found beauty in this life yet.
As she heard a song and could not forget.
That man she met on Sixth Avenue.
Who forgot the world and sung the truth.
And on the spawning dawn of judgment day.
You'll hear them in the wind.
With their simple song of loneliness.
And their simple song of sin.
Pure Innocence
Little one your dreams are sweet
Filled with teddy bears and toys
Too young to be swept off your feet
One day soon you'll dream of boys
Your heart is safe from breaking now
Innocence that's pure and bright
May you never find out how
Love can steal your shining light
Hope no tears fall on your pillow
In some desolate morning hour
Be strong like the weeping willow
Never let go of your power
Love can be a wondrous thing
Let it be that way for you
Little one I hope you sing
With a voice that's strong and true
May your song light up the sky
Filled with hope and happiness
Never have to question why
Never have to second-guess
Why love's left you feeling old
Counting all the tears you've cried
What made passion turn stone cold
Wondering how much he has lied
So wee one count your little sheep
Off to dreamland you can go
Don't worry now,this all will keep
Some things you don't need to know
