Springtime fervent fresco
shines on the easel
of embellished topography,
embroidered filigree
enshrined
in Monet landscape,
luminous
in effervescent elegance
with sparkle of sapphire lagoon
in dreaming ebullient eyes,
entranced,
and with lustrous lotus petals
of luscious lips
ardently parted,
painted on silken canvas
of convivial countenance,
magnetic,
carved with narcissistic contours
of innate pride
with dormant Dorian Gray syndrome,
subdued.
The sands of time
roll over wrinkled canvas,
from winter twilight zone
senile spider creeps,
weaves weary
with the last strings of hope
webs of facial furrows
of creased contentment,
empty eyes gaze,
forlorn
at weathered wasteland,
regressed,
find in desiccated garden
the faded flowers
lose patina of passion,
enticing once.
Hedonist psyche refuses
to gauge the grief of loss,
trapped in transient notion,
sanguine,
for what is a face
if not a metaphor
for proclivity panorama,
sustaining snapshot
capturing mesmeric moments,
frozen
in timeless frame
of concealed charisma,
contained in cauldron
of boundless beauty,
transcendent.
I venture to say
That most people,
Against all odds,
Have found their way.
Against all odds, they believed.
They lived the nightmare,
But kept their dream alive.
Against all odds, they kept the faith
And were able to survive.
They experienced a living hell,
But Against all odds, they thrived.
Against all odds, rejecting the lie,
They refused to roll over and die.
Although over many years, their eyes
Wept bitter tears, like windshield
Wipers, they wiped away their fears.
Their bodies, although beaten, brused,
And pained, little by little, they gained,
Because their spirits refused to be ruled
By their sighs.
Now this is my definition of love
It's much like wrestling in the mud
You get down and dirty
And say things quite flirty
Then it all comes together with a thud
You scream out bloody murder together
Promise your undying love forever
Roll over and whisper
The name of her sister
Then you realize that wasn't too clever
She pummels your head without any mercy
You attempt to defend against her fury
You start to see rainbows
And a bunch of pretty halos
A ferocious little dynamo this girlie
Well eventually you recover your senses
And are able to put up some defences
You plant a big smacker
On this sweet li'l attacker
Then it's back to love in the trenches

There’s potential for anything in the hospital.
Anyone could drift into a hospital gown.
Dawning on them at dawn, then again at noon.
They have enough hospital gowns for all of us and more.
And they all have a couple holes in them.
So do our stories which combine into one giant skeleton.
Got built by us over years,
We don’t know if he’s real or fake but looks a little paler than most types of bone.
Our stories may not always align.
But we chortle and pick at our wounds in front of the tv.
Pretend to be ghosts.
Under our beds, we roll over.
My eyes.
As my mouth almost moves, which in here?
Can’t do anything- harm, good, howling.
None.
In the hospital.
Things move like a slow motion swamp.
Guilt us.
I’ve been here three days.
As we interconnect like chalk lines around a body.
The hospital.
How can you call it that?
This is a plot of land in space and no time at all.
How can you call it that?
Just how…

You lay sleeping, and I, awake, focus on you’re steady breathing in hopes it will lull me into at very least a meditative trance, if not actual sleep.
I stare into the blackness of the room, it’s expansiveness surprises me, intrigues me, then scares me, so I close my eyes blocking out the night. Rolling over I huddle into a ball and try to sleep. The electric hum of the household appliances fill the void, your occasional snores and snorts intersperse their melody. You lay sleeping, and I? I lay still resisting the urge to get up as I believe if I just lay still sleep will come, eventually.
You roll over and cuddle me. You lay sleeping, and I lay awake but happy wrapped in your arms, your knees snug up behind mine. I feel the rhythmic rise and fall of your chest and try to mirror it.
Slowly surly my eyes get heavy, the thoughts dissipate from my mind and I feel the heaviness of sleep being to over take me. BING, my phone intones from the living room. At first I ignore it, too tired and cozy to care, then I begin to wonder who it could be, and why. I have to know, and besides I’m thirsty, and I could pee.
You roll over, and I get up. You lay sleeping and I scroll mindless through my phone, the bright light making me squint so I put it aside.
“You ok”, I hear from the bedroom. “Yup”, I reply.
You instantly fall back into your easy slumber. I sit there in the darkness tired but awake.
I wish I could be you for just one night, sleeping so peacefully and easily.
How do you do it? Why can’t I?
You lay sleeping ….
I watch the steam, roll over the train,
as we round the bend.
It appears and disappears,
like the dark cloud that has imprisoned my heart,
since reading of your death.
The rattle from the windows keeps me in a hypnotic state,
as I'm still fifty miles away.
Received a letter three weeks after you departed,
now alone and dazed I've taken this train,
to your grave
This contraption moves ever slow,
and the noise from screeching wheels,
when we stop for water, awakens me.
There's nothing more timeless then motion,
that seems to stand still.
Steam engines...I should have taken a horse.
At least I wouldn't have all this time to remember.
Clickety Clack...Clickety Clack...
All aboard...Last stop
To never see you again, my final heartbreak.
If you don't mind I'm taking a horseback,
so I can forget the sadness, leave it on the train.
I'll visit your grave with a smile,
placing your favorite flowers against the headstone.
And watch the train roll past the graveyard,
while its whistle tries to awaken dad,
who lies next to you.
You'll never be alone again...
and me..you taught me to be strong,
I can do no less than honor your memory.

Homeless.
A red sunset on a nice warm beach;
A place to call my own, to get some self-respect.
A job in an office with a decent wage;
Two point four children and a couple of pets.
A wife to lay beside me, till the day that I die;
These are the dreams I have and they help me survive.
Life on the streets isn't peaches and cream;
It's the hardest way of living, so just make a change.
You may lose all your hope, but never lose your dreams;
Because you know in your heart, things can't stay the same.
It's all downhill from here, if you don't sort things out;
You’re going to die real soon my friend, if you don't get a house.
A place to call home, a place to lay your hat;
These are the things that you dream about.
You'd make it in life, if someone helped you find home;
But you have got to help yourself and I think you know that.
Life on the streets isn't peaches and cream;
It's the hardest way of living, so just make a change.
You may lose all your hope, but never lose your dreams;
Because you know in your heart, things can't stay the same.
Hold onto your dreams, for one day they may come true;
You might make it in life and get all you deserve.
Or you could give up on life and just throw in the towel;
You must think about yourself and decide what you’re worth.
Is life worth hanging onto? Or will you roll over and die?
You won't feel any more pain and you'll no longer cry.
But you'll never see them smile, when you make it in life;
You will never have a family and you will never have a wife.
Life on the streets isn't peaches and cream;
It's the hardest way of living, so just make a change.
You may lose all your hope, but never lose your dreams;
Because you know in your heart, things can't stay the same.
When you dreamt about that beach, with the red sunset;
Did you really want those things? Or did you lie to yourself?
Because if you want them there they are;
Just go right ahead and get them;
Or give up on life my friend and you we can forget.

Let the snow roll over in my dreams,
Let the shore be cast away in my sea,
Let the stage take my fall away,
Let the path take me walking along the way.
The last dawn does not wait for the final dusk,
The last walk for the unknown stride,
The least is the unknown slavery,
The feast is for this tidy courage.
Where I step, I step twice,
Once for myself and another for the Silence.
I worship my Silence along the sidewalk,
I never truly believe in the communion.
Let me clear my voice,
Sleeping is the unseen lavishness,
Running towards the maze is my labyrinth,
Going to be heard in silence and not to be unseen.
Ignore the path that is not yours,
Align with the thought that causes you to walk alone,
Aloneness is the road that diverged in the wood,
The two-forked road that mends my decisions.
“Winter is coming”
I looked at my other, shaking my head
“Darling, it’s Spring”
She just looked at me blankly
“Winter is coming”
I opened my eyes and roll over to the empty spot next to me
The cold breeze had finally arrived
Sending a chill through my veins
Freezing over my heart
These four walls had once contained warmth like a nice summer’s day
Now my only companion is the ice that now surrounds me
Warmth now a delusion
Winter is coming
Had I understood her warning
I would’ve bundled up a lot sooner
Four seasons but I’m the only one who’s changing
Everytime I fall asleep she arrives once again
Swirling around my mind like the Autumn leaves
But for now
Winter is here and it plans to stay.
