The first time I ever saw your face was the first time I ever saw beautiful.
Your pink rosy cheeks were so soft and tender, like an ivory chiffon quilt
made by great-grandma’s frail hands. I knew not what demons would
ascend and create a life too sad for such a sweet little girl to want to bear.
Thirteen came and you were still more adoring than any other girl your age.
But you never did see your beauty, did you? Sorrow encompassed your smile.
If I could erase the ugly you feel inside; maybe, just maybe I could see the
beauty that shined the day you were born-
once again.
See, you still have those same rosy cheeks-
and those same big doe chestnut eyes God
gave you knowing how perfect they’d be…
(if only just for me).
So, I sit on one side of the couch, you on the other, and we do our thing
with occasional laughs and funny sayings we made up. The sparkle in your
eyes when we are together gives me comfort that soon you will shine with the
constellations of confidence and healing. "Will this anguish cease before she
becomes so torn she turns to negativity for reliance?" My prayers are heavy
and my worry runs deep.
Just then…
you grab one side of the blanket, and I the other; two young lovely ladies doing nothing but believing in each other with...
warmth and light.
“For you are my beginning, and you are my end.
My sweetness, completeness, my best friend.
I feel your sorrow when you cry as if it was me,
I want to heal you with my arms to make you see
I have a secret that it seems like no one else knows-
you’re perfect the way you are, my sweet Ella Rose."
For my girl is shamed by BROKEN INNOCENCE.
*There’s just not enough education on how to deal with a child who suffers from mental illness. It’s heartbreaking and worrisome. I pray for the youthful demons children face. I pray other parents their children help if needed. The bond between my daughter and I is unbreakable. I cried as I wrote this.*

To each of you who feels you have failed to evolve
Because you are constantly running into various barriers
Sit back, relax, and let me tell you the story
Of the eight realistically inspiring characters
The first was a son to God and his mother
As Seen Through The Eyes Of The Word and not any other
Because he Learned That Love Is Stronger than what words can even utter
Because Love Is So Much Of An Action, there is no distance it can not cover
The second was a brother to his siblings and all humanity
Blessed With Many Gifts, but never known for vanity
Because he felt any fear outside of God only led to insanity
So every situation that arose, he handled so candidly
The third was a man, standing both, strong and proud
Humble to all men but Only To God had he bowed
Always soft spoken but forever searching for that loud
Forever content with self-reliance, no dependence on the crowd
The fourth was a friend, extended with helping hand
Forever faithful and true, never using that betraying brand
Knowing that friendships must be grown, they can't be bought in the can
Because instead of desiring to down-grade, he wanted to understand
The fifth was the freak, known to all and one
The inspiration of desire, the innovator of monogamous fun
One Eve at a time, that's how he got it done
Because the motto was for her to only leak at the grasp of his gun
The sixth was a nerd, but cool in all other ways
Serving as a lifetime member in how her hip sways
But something about knowledge always left him amazed
And for that reason, attention is what he always pays
The seventh was a soldier, always Fighting For Christ
Which did he Love more, God or his Life
Because the things that he did show that he paid his price
In Respect For The One Who Made The Greatest Sacrifice
And the eighth was the one who would let neither give up his fight
Telling each he is not wrong until they PROVE they're right
Because To Live Under The Star That Brings Bright Morning Light
Can only bring Hope, and there is no better sight
Each was greatly strong, each was greatly misunderstood
Rarely could either be challenged, but far too often, each was abused
In ways too great for a simply common mind to ponder
Causing the E.R.I.C. more Prayers, A Power that can never be overused
Mr. President, Mr. Vice President, Americans, and the world:
In the crucible of revolution, our forefathers etched their pledge—
a bold testament inscribed not solely in ink,
but in the quiet, relentless pulse of divine dependence.
It is as if the ink itself carried whispers
of a celestial covenant,
affirming divine Providence
into the very marrow of liberty.
Yet, as time past,
present battles won,
and future problems solved,
liberty's nation absolved themselves
from any responsibility
to the Providence from whose
sovereign ties
freed them from foreign foes.
And man's purpose became his own.
Hear this
If our purpose is in just us,
we will find we have lost ourselves,
encased in the cells of just-ice.
For if our forefathers found it requisite
to declare our nation's independence by
recognizing their dependence on the
"Laws of Nature and Nature's God"
beyond the limits of
mankind's powerful facade,
facading the source of
our country's origin,
our homeland's dominion,
foraging a jurisdiction of humanity alone,
thereby ascending mortality's throne
above the divine --
making mankind superior to the
"Supreme judge of the world,"
a position our forefather's forbade
"appealing... [In] rectitude...of [their] intentions"
to a God they believed in,
a declaration sovereignty -
bowed in solemnity,
proclaiming “with a firm reliance on the
protection of divine Providence,"
a dependence on a God they
entrusted their dependence to.
Who are we to say any different?
What difference does it make
if we believe in God or ourselves?
As the good word says,
"Shall the axe boast itself against him
that heweth therewith? or shall the saw
magnify itself against him that shaketh it?
As if the rod should shake itself against
them that lift it up, or as if the staff
should lift up itself, as if it were no wood."
For Godhood is to create,
and man was created by God.
And should man boast himself beyond
Him who spawned ages beyond ages,
he shall find himself his brother's pawn,
despondent, disheartened and disappointed,
foraging for the framework
of freedom our forefathers foraged,
overwhelmed by the damage
of a fallen nation who failed
to hear the caution within
the clarion calls of its creator.
This is a warning
from neighbor to neighbor.
Herein lies the identity of their enemy
Herein lies the description of the abuses
Herein lies the claims against their tyrant
Herein lies the picture of their fixed intolerance
Herein lies their 'no recourse' and plan of action
Herein lie the rhyme and the reason, their right, and their duty
The Americans who led the way, and the people whom they represented, made it very clear that the abuses suffered at the hands of the King of England had become intolerable and the time had come for total separation. No one could have expressed it better than what we now read in in a short portion of the text: ***************************************************************
"But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world." What follows this paragraph is a long list of grievances.

I counted 18 instances in which the pronoun "HE" was used to initiate an accusation against the King of England. The signers of the declaration left no doubt as to "The Who" of their enemy and "Why" he was so rendered.
In the closing lines of the text, with their backs against the wall and their faces staring in the face of God, it is no wonder that they could say with confidence and faith, "And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor." As we celebrate the 4th of July in 2020, may we, the descendants(Red, Yellow, Black, Brown, and White) of the brave Americans of 1776 think no different and do no less.

to make you drop your guard
and play patty cakes with Evil

there is no other description that fits
praise the panoramic vista
just around the corner
it's all about the pivot points
so fat chance
among the exploding galaxies
minus the swashbuckling pistoleros and
armchair Romeos and
prisoners of doom and
fairytale living sacrifices
victory is not always a given
you have known this for years
when the paparazzi scribblers
were the Freedom Brigade
where your body parts
take on a life of their own
and deductions don't necessarily
insure your survival
and the mystery remains
job 4 is to better organize thoughts
the game of influence
is the game of influence of judgment
and in sum job 5 is to look at our expectations
and their reliance upon
the letters of the alphabet
separate inputs perceived as one
is an angel
allow me to present you
with the keys to the code
two eyeball pictures perceived as one
within the freedom to inquire
the fanatics want to stop time
that is all there is to it
in which case
a mild dose of persistence never hurts
vision is numbers is evidence
we suffer the memory of past volitions
many of them not our own
we have been engineered to be throttled
yah I took the long way home
much to the disgust
of every entity in the Universe
the list of culprits is long
you have been reading it
no surprise relief on the horizon
police could show up on my doorstep
at any suspecting instant
but the obvious comes easily to me
when I am uninhabited
that's what you get when
you stop trying to be appetizing
for those who cannot tolerate self mockery
there is a train load of pity
to add to the weight on your arms
when in doubt go for the learning
do for the learning
be for the learning
rampant imagination may be
a low grade ore
but the nuggets will blow your head to atoms
enjoy your nodule of security then
keep in mind it can quickly vaporize
in a new modality of immediacy
a traveling mosaic of instants
the next one looking back on the last

Looks extremely objective.
And never regarded as a fugitive.
He's a mighty man equipped by wisdom.
But the judgement on him is insensitive.
He prefers self reliance without boredom,
As his world is shaped by ruth,
And few considers to dwell in.
A world he set to spread truth.
His own confidants wished they jailed him.

A world where he now dwells alone,
Enriched to divinely atone.
And now his former nation keeps to bemoan,
Whiles the sage has already forgiven them of their wrong.

Failure is a weed that sprouts from unbelief,
Choking out the more desirable fruit of faith.
Marvel at how God weeds out unbelief:
The little girl's confidence in God's power,
The prophet's reliance on the supernatural.
Watch Ben-Hadad rely on his own natural ability,
Dismissing the little girl's and Naaman's hope.
"I will use the wealth stolen from the Israelites,
By the brilliant raids of my captain, Naaman,
And start more conflict with the king of Israel!"
And the evil one came and snatched away the seed.
Jehoram, Israel's king, relies on his own ability,
For he has already defected from God in his heart,
And dismisses any help from Yahweh's prophet.
"I cannot cure this man from his skin disease!
Ben-Hadad looks for an excuse to fight me!"
And without sufficient root, his belief withered.
Marvel at how God's plan unfolds:
"There is a prophet in Israel, send him to me!
This did not originate in the mere will of man!
Do not judge until God's purposes are complete!
This will not be just a physical cure!"
And God prepares some good soil in Naaman's heart.
What is the way of approach to ignorant Naaman?
The gods of Naaman will fall in this encounter.
God conceals His sovereign control by Design.
Naaman's proud spirit judges God's choices,
For it is Satan's last-ditch effort to thwart.
And sinners try to erect their own standards.
Man is not the cure for himself-
Expecting cleansing in accord with his dignity.
Humiliation and faith pave the way to remedy.
"Wash in a river inferior to those of my own?!"
Naaman erupts in a boiling rage - ready to curse!
And God breaks up the hardness of pride in him.
The appeal is simple faith in God's provision.
As Naaman obeyed in faith, he was healed-
From both physical and spiritual leprosy!
"Now I know there is no God except in Israel!"
He was changed from self-serving to servant.
And the good soil understands and bears fruit.
There is no substitute for the Lord, Gehazi.
Why put your missionary commission at risk?
Ironically, Naaman's leprosy will cling to you!
What you would have inherited is forfeited.
You have joined the ranks of Eli and Saul.
And desire for riches choke the seed, yielding nothing.

truly radiating to me Your divine brilliance
Thank You for turning me toward holiness-compliance
While I can flee from covetous and proud alliance
And stay in Your compassion’s reliance.

dodoitsu series (rhymed)
Winter is taking the reins
speeding past days of autumn -
Jack Frost smears the windowpanes
forefingers and thumb.
You who have no house to own,
too proud to seek charity,
you choose your path all alone
that’s a guarantee.
Your attic room, where risks run
rowdy as the eastern winds,
barren refuge while you shun
warmer help from friends.
Churches serve a daily meal
without impugning censure,
Would a shelter prove to shield
Christian adventure?
God casts no smears. You must know
you are short more than your needs.
God produces once you show
you will plant His seeds.
Twixt four fingers and your thumb
winnow pangs of laziness.
Earn warm lodging ere autumn’s
freeze spawns haziness.

For my series of didactic "germane" dodoitsu, I chose three German proverbs, being influenced much in my life by my German grandmother.
-A poor person isn't he who has little, but he who needs a lot.

For word play:
“the four fingers and your thumb”, and “winnow pangs” of verse 5(6) play off of
“Jack Frost’s forefingers and thumb” and "window panes" of verse 1.
Word with two meanings:
Verse 1 – smear – v. to wipe or daub
Verse 4 (5) – smear – n. a slur or insult
double meaning proverb

I used the normal 7, 7, 7, 5 syllable pattern of a dodoitsu but rhymed it ABAB. I really needed 24 lines to complete my thoughts, but I dutifully cut it back to 20 lines, adding it back in italics after contest was judged. Expanding on Rilke’s “Autumn Day” title, I took a different turn from his prayerful, more positive piece.
I Believe in You- A short letter to America

Dear America,
At times, I have doubted myself and questioned you
I have cried bitter tears over you, but never doubted you
The real you is not all that we see, or even all that we feel
My core beliefs sum up the real me, as is the case with you
In despair, I found that the core of you always gave me hope
Out of the core, true life flows, and your core has drawn masses from afar
When many of your people were denied their rights and forsaken,
I believed in you. When your sacred laws were broken, I believed in you
When people were sold as property and terror tolerated, I was not here, but still, I believed in you
When a right is exercised and I disagree, I still believe in you
When an intolerance is expressed, I am sad, but yet, I believe in you
When your flag is burned or a church is bombed, I ache for you, but I continue to believe in you
When I see you in the Preamble, I see ‘me’ in ‘we the people’, and I believe in you
When I pledge allegiance to your flag and say, ‘under God’, I believe in you
When I read the address at Gettysburg about your government, it’s my government too. "This government of the people, for the people, and by the people shall not perish…” This government is yours; it is theirs; it is ours, and I believe in you.
O American, there are endless reasons for believing in you, but I shall close with the last sentence from The Declaration of Independence. For therein lies a summary of how much our founding fathers believed in you. “And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.”
O America, may God continue to richly bless you. May I and millions of others who have benefited from your blessings, be ever reliant upon Divine Provident ( GOD ). And may we too pledge all.
