Tale of two angels
who lived in a poor neighborhood
who thought nothing would work
but God knew it would.
Everyday they woke up to nothing
no food, no water, no new clothes
but no one knew
but only God knows.
Their mother prayed everynight
to the Lord on the thrown,
wishing all her tears and troubles
would one day be gone.
She did the best she could
all that she could
to raise her beautiful daughters
on her own and everyday this is what she told them.
"I gave you wings to fly
and a mouth to confess and never tell a lie.
I gave you lungs and air to breathe
I gave you a shoulder to lean on
when you couldn't beat the speed."
One Christmas Eve,
the girls were bored
so their friends invited them to a church.
Instead of having nothing to do,
in the church they did discover who...
they discovered a youth meeting being held
in the back of the church.
They walked into the room
just as steady as they pleased,
they sat down on their knees
and listened to what their was left to say,
which made them quite pleased.
They went home after the sermon,
went to their room, got on their knees
and began to cry, they sat on the floor
in her time of weakness and dispare
to think and wonder how much their mother really cared.
Shouting out to the Lord, they did scream
their love for God had grown
every stitch and seam.
"Lord she has done so much
to provide for us
now can you hold her hand and stand beside us.
Christmas is not about presents, it's about
celebrating your birthday, your name
its not about growing up in fortune and fame.
Lord you are God
and we know you will provide
but I pray this pray
to the heavenly father that sits on his thrown
in the sky." They prayed this prayer over and over again
until there was nothing left to hear
except for the sound of the wind.
The next morning they woke up to find
a tree full of presents,
a table with breakfast already made,
and a dinner being prepared as if for a hundred slaves.
The family rejoiced
because God would always make a way
when things were going wrong
a way was made out of no way.
He started with little and everything multiplied
they rejoiced so much
their praises did reach the sky.
It started to rain
"Don't worry child, Jesus is crying
and rejoicing to because we are so blessed
to have two little angels like you."

Aurora stood at the gravesite close to Robert’s casket on the bier
“Look at her, why I’ve yet to see a tear”
The lady whispered to the other so Aurora could hear
“Her dress is disrespectful; it’s a heartless thing to wear
“My heart bleeds for her husband lying there”
This was Robert’s favorite dress and he always used to say
“Aurora, wear it for me when I ‘go away’
If you care and I know you do you’ll dare!
Aurora, promise me please no tears
We’ve known this moment was coming for almost two years.”
Aurora saw a man appear under the oak tree on the knoll
It was Robert walking in an unhurried stroll!
He used the “royal wave” he liked to imitate
Aurora repeated it in reverse, she didn’t even hesitate
She saw and felt him there emotionally reacting
Intellectually realizing “this can’t be happening!”
Staring at each other across the expanse of lawn
Sharing a last loving communication not as two but one
Robert blew her a kiss and walked out of sight
Trembling wildly, Aurora fought to stay upright.
A solitary tear fell from Aurora’s eye, she felt it descending
In slow passage down her cheek carving a groove blistering
Stories abound about this unique and mysterious solitary tear
Report it happens infrequently, only every several years
How or why the tear finds its mourner cannot be explained
The tear’s origin and source has yet to be discovered or named.
It’s said that a person’s intensity of inexpressible feelings
Make the tear appear by their profound grieving.
Aurora, like others, is disorganized and unfocused following Robert’s death
Making endless adjustments, trying to catch a breath
One day she touches the scar on her cheek made by that solitary tear
Her mind clears and it becomes an amazing day without confusion or fear
Salvation and comfort take many forms if you pray
Especially if you believe what God imparts in His way
She finally understands that Robert’s soul and spirit were not lost to her
And that living isn’t meant to be a meaningless blur
Robert rejoiced in living and in his love for her taught her to feel the same
They had priceless moments together more than she could count or name
And she starts recalling all the memories they made while husband and wife
Who’s to say what or whom finally brought Aurora back
And gifted her with a tender and loving renewal of her life.
If my poetry moves you to witness to stranger
Just know that I'm touched that you're "sharing my ride,"
For the fact is that giving can be fraught with danger,
But those that it calls feel much warmer inside!
I have so little knowledge to call my invention
Some came from my parents, from people I've met
But the gift of the spirit defies all convention
It's holy, profound, precious gift without debt.
Even muse I call gift, for it waters my soul's growth,
An alternate path that the spirit can take
Truth that's flavored by strangers, by loved ones, I've seen both,
Fresh air never sweeter, Grace purges mistake!
Spirit truth has no owner like jewel or gold dust,
It's one with Creation; you'll know it by feel.
Although Midas (1) got gold, all his love turned to soul rust,
The gift of the Spirit is simply to heal!

Poet's Notes:
(1) From Greek mythology - Wikipedia
"One day, as Ovid relates in Metamorphoses, Dionysus found that his old schoolmaster and foster father, the satyr Silenus, was missing. The old satyr had been drinking wine and wandered away drunk, to be found by some Phrygian peasants who carried him to their king, Midas (alternatively, Silenus passed out in Midas' rose garden). Midas recognized him and treated him hospitably, entertaining him for ten days and nights with politeness, while Silenus delighted Midas and his friends with stories and songs. On the eleventh day, he brought Silenus back to Dionysus in Lydia. Dionysus offered Midas his choice of whatever reward he wished. Midas asked that whatever he might touch should be changed into gold.
Midas rejoiced in his new power, which he hastened to put to the test. He touched an oak twig and also a stone; both turned to gold. Overjoyed, as soon as he got home, he touched every rose in the rose garden, and all became gold. He ordered the servants to set a feast on the table. Upon discovering how even the food and drink turned into gold in his hands, he regretted his wish and cursed it. Claudian states in his In Rufinem: "So Midas, king of Lydia, swelled at first with pride when he found he could transform everything he touched to gold; but when he beheld his food grow rigid, and his drink harden into golden ice then he understood that this gift was a bane and in his loathing for gold, cursed his prayer."
In ancient looms of my homeland,
Fairies once shuttled across threads of rainbows
Weaving folklores of gods and goddesses.
Our tapestry needed no haberdashery of
Brabubahanas and Chitrngadas or a vijay panchali,
For no tantric-needle knitted our folktales.
I want to go back and melt in folk songs
Of shamans, who rejoiced in carnival of ripening rice,
Possessed by jingling moans of a pena.
I want to orchestrate, one more time, the ballad
Of Luwaopa and Koubru Namoinee, and
Feel the heartbeats of Henjunaha and Lairuklembi.
I want to burn my poetry in immortal angst
Of Khamba-Thoibi, and blow the ashes
On winds above Loktak's gentle ripples.
I want to defy traditions, once again,
By falling in love like Chingsompa and Panthoibi, and
Tell the world I inherited their sweet arrogance.
I want to retrace petals of
Thainagi Leirang, leaving no stones unturned,
Until I find the lost quill in ruins of alphabets.
I want to ask children of my land
To perform Eemagi Pujah by planting a Madhabi
On the stage of another Shingel Indu.
I want to revisit a forbidden village in my past, and
Reopen the second chapter of Jahera
Sitting by the old mosque with a green door.
I want to hear young Khongjomba sing
Lamphel Patki Kombirei, while I sip chilled Atingba
From a bamboo mug, in a karaoke bar.
I want to see Pidoinu dance in a discotheque
To the exotic tunes of Khulang Eshei, while
Her Moirangphi floats with iridescent embroidery.
I wish to put my ears on grandpa's clay courtyard, and
Listen to Leipaklei's sprouting sighs in a crack,
For the last time in this lifetime.
Finally, I like to be frightened again by Tapta, and
Wake up in a faraway dream where
My homeland shines as silvery as the milky way.
Note -
Names of mythical characters and entities from our folktales, history and books are used in the poem.
Pena is a stringed traditional musical instrument, played with a bow with tiny bells, of my homeland.
Loktak is a lake in my native state, which is the largest fresh water lake in eastern India, where the world's only floating wild life sanctuary lies, on which the almost extinct brow antlered deers known as Sangai, in native dialect, are preserved.
Atingba is a locally brewed rice beer.
Leipaklei is a rare orchid which sprouts out of cracks in dry soil/grounds.
What are you willing to do to show God you care?
My wife took our daughters from me and left me in despair.
She made up stories to the law, just to destroy my life.
She was my childhood sweetheart. How sad, I loved me wife.
A 17 year Army career ended and I'm now disabled too.
A wife lusting for money and no children, what would I do?
I was weekly seeing a VA Shrink, because I wanted to die.
One day an old woman in Food Service, said "give God a try!"
We met at the VA Chapel to talk to Him everyday.
I admitted without Him I was lost and to please show me the way.
We prayed for other people and let God speak to our mind.
One day He said "Go to Denver and I said "Is that You this time?"
I said "Lord I want to know if you're real, so this I'm willing to do.
I admit about this I am scared, but I'm willing see if it's You!"
I went back to the kitchen and asked how to resign.
I told them God had spoke to me. They thought I'd lost my mind.
One week later I walked out the door with $300 dollars in hand.
Didn't know where or what to do. He had given me no plan.
Two old women on the Greyhound, said "Child, the Lords on you!"
I said I'm doing this and I'm scared, but I think God told me too.
They wrote names and address in my Bible & for me they prayed.
We laughed and rejoiced until Atlanta. Then went our separate way.
Next stop was St. Louis. A woman that I didn't know.
Said her friend agree to pick up her child, instead she had to go.
I told her about my story, and where I was headed I didn't know.
That I was putting my trust in God and the way He would show.
She became very emotional, saying "This you won't believe!"
I felt God's call to the Mission field. His response I've now received
He sent me someone that thinks and feels like I do.
Who will trust Him blindly. Sir that person is you!"
We both were high on His glory, after what we just learned.
Shortly after they boarded for Denver. "By now, It's my turn!"
I sat down in peace. Smiled from there all the way in.
Reflecting on the talk I had, with my new Christian friend.
Miracle after miracle, too too! many to list here.
Experience things I can never explain. God stayed so very near.
He ask us just to only believe in Him and try to obey.
No matter the road traveled. God will make a way!
Here, this day, on this inglorious
Field
Thy vain struggles will count no
Valour.
All hope now abandoned,
Imminent defeat unconcealed;
Erstwhile countenance display
Such waxen, languid pallor.
Surround by your dwindling
Forces
Ye will but sadly find...
That the stout keep of your
Valiant fortress is all but breached,
Once strong foundations failing -
Wherest badly undermined!
For a rigorous examination beckons
ye;
Stood before impassioned jurors
Chosen from the feared and all
Powerful families of the ignoble
Medici.
Black curtains drawn back from
Deep reveals
That look out over the enlightened
Years...
Where conceals...
Hidden between leafs of peremptory
Decree:-
A blight spread upon these lands,
Inflicted from Romes insidious
Plans -
That cause stain upon the
Renaissance of a golden century!
When clapping thunder breaks and
Brazen lightening clashes
Still I would know ye again:
A pounding, frenzied reflex devoid
Of all Godly purpose -
Detached from any amount of
Blame!
For I have sought ye out, O lowly
Meretrix;
Heaping upon you with bondage
Enforced through servitude and
Shame;
And I, O lowly Meretrix,
I...hereby command thy name.
A fastidious Advocate of intellectual
Character
Shallst I elect,
He who be a practitioner of
Theological proposal unrefrained,
To represent you -
Raised from the rank files of the
Dead and slain!
A public gallery, wherest seated,
Ghostly phantasms
That I purposefully select;
And for a judge - A deathly one:
Ill measured, worshipfully detached,
Beneath it all,
And hopelessly arcane.
This "Innocent" fool, dressed in
Guise of highest ecclesiastical
Enforcer,
Perpetuated a medieval Inquisition,
Both protracted and prolonged,
That openly boasted and rejoiced
In its zealous slaughter!
Thereby spawned a terrible edict -
"Ad Extirpanda":-
Cannon law that advocates the
Use of "Legitimate torture"!
Know thee also, Meretrix, the Pius
Pontiff,
Heaven sent,
Who in his greater wisdom
Convened over
The council of Trent:
Four hundred years spanning
Across a Reformations fears;
Reaffirmed when Pope John,
In reflective reiteration,
Was heard to chillingly hiss:
"What was...Still is"!

A Tale to Tell
Walking is a very good exercise.
So I walk regular to keep myself fit perfect
Once I was walking on river side to watch twilight.
On way back, sun went down.
Twilight bade bye and I started walk back to home.
Darkness covered surroundings very soon.
That night was a night of No Moon.
My feet were too tired, I wished a car- lift.
I did not stop but was walking slow.
Meanwhile I was attracted with a sudden glow.
I chanced to see the headlight of a car,
approaching towards me not from very far.
To stop the car, I showed my hand,
and went road side to wait and stand
Car ignored me, but was in too slow motion.
I opened the back door, finding no other option.
I boarded the car and looked aslant.
Shocked to see the driver-seat lying vacant.
Car was going on its own but very slowly,
as if a man was walking unwillingly.
I was not aware of automatic car traveling alone
Where it was going or coming from all along!
I heard, in this region ghosts might loiter,
Might be he was the invisible driver.
So long I got no harm, no need of tension.
Also the car was going on my direction.
I encouraged myself not to get frightened.
Ghost might be helpful to be redefined.
All on a sudden the car made a stop.
I got out from the car just on a gallop.
With rapid heart- beats I stood on roadside.
A tired person came out from behind.
Noticing me the man rejoiced
and with relief he voiced
“How lucky am I ! Here you stand.
To push the car, give me a hand.
Let us take the car to nearest garage.
So long I am pushing the car all alone.
Luck favored me as you are shown.”
What a blunder had I done, coming out of car !
I should depend on the ghost-driver.
I was bound to push the car.
Of course i had moral responsibility to do so.
He was so grateful to me.
I didn't disclose that I was coming comfortably
sitting on the car pushed by him.
The time is coming
the dead will soon rise
and devour your family
before you own eyes.
The forgotten wizard
tired of a life in caves
made a dark pact for
the power he craves.
Zombie and vampires from their grave.
A lone warrior stands,
Whos destiny is to save.
With sword and shield he places his faith.
With a stab and a hack
he fought the beasts back
but he is hurt badly
and all fades to black
stone walls and little light
he woke with a fright
and tried to stand in vain
he was hurt and fell to the pain.
He was in a chapel to the wise god
where he prayed to him for help
he was granted shining armor and sword
His mighty god made him to smite the whelp
The undead were strong
but he was a hoss
he killed them all
and showed demons who's boss
blade in hand he made his way
to the massive dark tower
where the necromancers stay
He rallied the soldiers
The barbarians and thieves
the mages and assassins
armed to their sleeves.
He made his own army
their might was astounding
the battle began
with each strike resounding
They fought with all their hearts
stabbing and sliceing
and putting to use their magical arts.
put an end to most of the plauge
But the leader of this blight
in the very tip top
made another demonic rite.
he killed the whole army except for one.
The blessed one stood immune to it all
his armor scratched, his shield long lost,
his sword bloodied alone he stood tall
The Paladin from now he would be known
The wizards fear stood true.
he cast his spell to little effect
he was soon run through
his soul then was claimed.
Beaten and wounded in the worst way.
he walk out of the tower into morning light
he fell to his knees and began to pray
for his army, his brothers, his men
may the gods above to take them all in
Again all things went black
he was gone this time
there was no coming back
he sat next to the gods in the sky
everyone rejoiced and everyone cried
the darkness was gone and many lived
and just as many had died
They saved the day
and yet lived on
in a way
the songs sang and tales told
The paladin was brave
the paladin was bold
the paladin was a savior
for the young and the old
Form:
My dear friend.
The first time we met,
as I held a door open for her stride,
I saw not the eye's image, not yet;
I glimpsed, outwardly, her beauty inside.
I did a double take at that smile,
heard her thanks and silently rejoiced;
her normal visage I saw, after a while,
and 'til now this thought I had not voiced.
We walked inside, and with so many others
we covered that room in song.
Unfamiliar, not yet in practice brothers,
nonetheless not a thing could any find wrong.
Music quickly became our bond,
leading to so much more.
Of her humor and spark, I am quite fond,
life near her never close to a bore.
With the clarinet she made art,
but too, just so with her hands;
the lady with the large heart
your attention her muse commands.
She's told me of despair complete,
of feeling all hope, at times, gone.
She found a way to fight, compete;
to win out to a new dawn.
Faint of heart, weak of gut,
none can accuse her of having been -
we've discussed disease, pain, smut,
her sensibilities speaking falsely of sin.
For in her I can detect none,
one just wanting to forgive, smile and laugh.
I often help her get the latter done,
both drinking deeply from friendship's carafe.
Once so long ago, for so short a time,
we were somewhat more than friends,
kisses and walks shared in a courtier's clime;
never been strained since - just the way life wends.
Then, thousands of miles apart,
we talked not quite so often;
then, difficulties pierced her heart,
my words the blows to soften.
Still she's suffering, sadly,
still she's stuck sorrowed;
yet some small slice of it I have to see gladly -
at least that it's my solace she's borrowed.
For she's recovering some of my sanity,
giving me that much more connection to home -
to the therein found sample of humanity
that's solemn upon seeing me roam.
Just today, she's helped me all anew,
drawing the weeping wolf, in exchange for this -
envisioning what will be my new tattoo,
a new mark on the flesh, to reminisce.
No matter what trials befall her in this life,
she simply must know that she's never alone;
during the tribulations and strife,
she just has to pick up the phone.
My dear friend.
