Fireflies

It's so dark outside, my eyes can't distinguish where sand meets water. Somehow, dusk has come and gone, plunging the evening into darkness.

But even as my eyes yield to this opaque absence of light, my other senses heighten. I can hear the crash of waves as they abuse the shoreline, sending foaming water up the beach in icy streams. I'm lulled by the sound of polished pebbles colliding like marbles as they recede with the waves. I can feel the sea's cool mist against my face, taste its salt on my lips. The scent of seaweed drifts on the breeze in gentle wafts - and then, slowly, the faintest whiff of smoke.

I glance over my shoulder, where a tiny dot of light penetrates the darkness. It's a beacon on this cool night, and I walk slowly toward it, digging my toes into the soft sand with each step.

dim moonlight
peeks through thinning clouds--
fire crackles

He's still there, stoking the fire, feeding the flames until the heat is tangible. The air wavers between us like a veil - a line I want to cross. He stirs up clouds of smoke, stirring feelings within me as I watch his busy hands. I wait patiently for him to notice my approach, and when he does, my breath catches.

rainbow flames
burst from seasoned maple--
blue eyes sparkle

I watch golden light flicker across his skin, softening the lines of his face. He abandons his task, moving around the fire until he stands before me, smiling as if he knows my heart is thundering in my chest.

He waits for a painstaking moment to pass. Then he kisses me with toasted marshmallow lips, pulling me down into his lap to watch the sparks rise like fireflies into the breathless night.

Premium Member Writing Joyously of Your Love

I so rejoice You waited patiently through my travails
of depression,
You were present, and said silently, "Hold on tightly
to me."
Throughout my gray watercolor restless nights,
You bestowed me joy in rainbow arcs.
I began sensing You giving me strength,
jubilance from You so freeing.
As my roller coaster days turned into a
calm renewal,
seeing so many celebratory colors.
I'm truly answering, committing to making more
time to worship You in poetry and song,
writing joyously of Your love.

My King Jesus,
You know my weaknesses, my flaws,
yet, You still cherish me,
and hold me close.
Your crown, a honeyed amber light,
radiating Your Holy Goodness,
You are the center of the living,
spiraled, unending cosmos,
my spirit so deeply thankful.

You gifted me my poet's soul,
penning, so gratefully penning,
words in pencil flowing into life.
Sacred Lamb of God,
I'm so in love with You,
You gifted me so much more
than I deserve. ~

Origin of Hope

How many tears must hope shed?
Is there no bread left for the hungry,
or cures bred for the sick?
Can hard work feed itself no more,
neither trust share its roots with truth,
with no water left to nurture either one?
Does love have none left for itself,
nor mercy favor fruits of friendship
as it once did?
Do rainbows reign no more after rain
nor doves fly following rainfall
with fresh saplings in their bills?
Has faith lost its will to live?
Will will lose itself to fear?
Would that God would strike it down
with one brush of His hand.
But this Would must submit to God.
World's hope may have fallen to embers,
but God's hope breathes flames of white,
for white knows the rainbow,
which signals water is growing the crops
that feed each fellow man.
Hope's origin is not with man,
but with God.
If hope is lost,
it is because this we have forgotten,
that hope lies in God's only Begotten Son

“The biggest lie about getting older is that excitement and
growth end with youth”. MO

Defiant by design, brazen Youth glides,
Striding beneath the banner ‘come what may’;
Flirting with fickle winds, taming the tides,
They pinky promise that they’re here to stay.

Allured along by a wondering eye,
Young naive charm trumps wisdom’s tested truth;
Sworn on a twinkling diamond star up high,
Dreams dance in rainbow palette over Youth.

Growing up fast - the poignant part indeed,
And eager Youth can’t pause the ticking pace.
Upon that sweeping hand it swaps its lead
For the kind, noble arms of wisdom’s grace.

I Know My I Love You Isn'T Enough

I'm a sinner
Confessing my love
But how's it wrong, to say it
When you love this much

She's my penny from Heaven
With sunshine for a soul
She answers my prayers
With her heart made of gold

I know my I love you isn't enough
For two hearts
Filled with passion
That long for the touch

Forever I'll walk
Holding the crutch
Of knowing my I love you
Just isn't enough

She's like a rainbow that falls
At the base of my feet
The one that all others
Wish they could meet

And while she looks away
I still reach for the sky
In hopes that I'll hear
Let's make love tonight

I know my I love you isn't enough
For two hearts
Filled with passion
That long for the touch

Forever I'll walk
Holding the crutch
Of knowing my I love you
Just isn't enough

Though souls seldom know
I fully believe
That when mine found yours
It found the one it seeked

And I may not get to hold you
Before this world I leave
But when I go I will know
You were the one meant for me

I know that my I love you
Just isn't enough
And no matter how strong
I'm still not that tough

To go one while knowing
Life's called my bluff
Until the day my I love you
Becomes enough

Until the day
My I love you
Becomes enough

A Little More from a Different Angle

It surely must be a cinch...
To scratch that type of itch,
Good luck getting rich,
When your niche keeps you poor
Then you come back for more,
Like a whore who gets bored
When someone evens the score
Take the window or door,
Swim all the way to the shore
Cause these ships going down
There are many who would drown
At the sound of a pounding
When working on grounding
The grit out of some wit
That just wants to get fit
To be able to sit
Avoiding the tit that bounced the writ
That was served as deserved
In a blur that was totally just the rust
That only fell but smelled funny
Like it was the good
Before we all got sick
You ing dick
You get the gist
When I miss the list
That I would kiss
Before making a fist
At all of this
It is far for bliss to drift amidst
What isn't but is
More than a Lyft
But a gift
To be not in a tiff
Yet some gif
Would uplift the next out of line hiss
As a new reality stick
To the target you hit
Still feel the need for a fix
Are NOT with whatever it is
It is totally not funny and not any of my biz
Just deal with it

That is my simple wish
Then add on doing the dishes
There is a list
BTW I brought home some fish
I caught
NOT
I pissed
In the pond
Everything went oh way so wrong
So, I started smoking a bong
To get along with the throng
Of those along for the twist
At the end
Where we all eat fried gull
That would risk
Dropping the ball
As it lifts
One more time just to fly
Instead of getting that bite
That just might start the addiction again
With more friction for the fiction
That a lot of us are forced to listen
When the whipping
Gets flipping so metaphorical
Then we find we have grit
And the rest does NOT have to be written
Forbidden
Yet to be forgiven
Still not hidden
From the ridden
Perplexed by riddles
Accompanied by giggles
It's so tasted the rainbow sort of gay
Eat your skittles enjoy the day
This is cray

You Saved Me

You really saved me back then when i met you,
You still save me know time and time again.
You saved my heart from falling into pieces,
You wiped away all my tears i have cried.

YOU SAVED ME!!!

You are the dream i dreamt,
The paradice i always hoped and dreamed for.
You are the rainbow i never got to see.

YOU SAVED ME!!!

I will stand up with you till the end of time if you let me,
Because,

YOU SAVED ME!!!

And you still continue to save me each day i live.
I will be your cliff in a flood,
I will be your sun in a storm,
I will make you feel alive,
As you do me.
I will make you feel loved,
And make you feel needed,
As you do with me.
Because,

YOU SAVED ME!!!

Your eyes are brighter than diamonds,
Your lip's are more dangerous as drug's...
Your heart more powerful then the heavens up above...
And when i hold your hand,
I feel like i belong.

YOU SAVED ME!!!

Time and time again.
I love you hun.
For your my true hero,
My true love,
My very best friend,
My soul mate,
My air i breath.
I love you hun.

YOU SAVED ME!!!

Time and time again.

Premium Member Holy Is the Lamb

Between soft brush of breeze and shower spray of sunshine
Between bubbly blooms of bulbs to nectarine nibbles blast
Between chanting chirps of birds to orchestrated strums and thumps
Between the struggle of knowing less and knowing more
Between tricky tempestuous trial train to bottle breaking battle birth
Between these to selfless sacrifice, He painted all free out of His love

King of all kings yet born humble lain in a manger
King of all kings yet dressed in the simplest clothe
King of all kings yet regardless of who, He walk through
King of all kings yet questioned, mocked and scourged
King of all kings yet excruciatingly trampled down
King of all kings, darling of Heavens, they slain as a ransom to mankind's sin

Holy made known by His conception from a Virgin
Holy made known through His baptism of blood and fire
Holy made known with His miracles: water into wine;healing paralytic; raising the dead
Holy made known by His Living Words written in truth and spirit
Holy made known through the works of His disciples
Holy, Your Amazing grace, a warm womb of bearing embrace

Today and always, a call to Your name a rainbow blessing shout
Today and always, You are our silent invisible brother and friend
Today and always, Your example our primal everlasting guide to life
Today and always, You are our way, the truth and our glowing light
Today and always, You are our most faithful and gentle rescuer
Today and always, where will I be without you in my life?

Premium Member In My Pulsing Heart

As I saw you for the first time
Our eyes got locked in an instant
I don’t know what feelings flashed past me then
All I knew, I was gripped by a strange restlessness
Was it a feeling of pleasant ache or rising mirth?

Standing befuddled, I forgot myself and stood lost.
Coming back to the real world, you were gone
Why did my heart miss a beat all of a sudden
As if I was denuded of a beautiful moment.

The next time I met you
The world shrunk into a small ball
Where only you and I existed.
Overwhelmed by the language in your eyes,
A language so fluent in silence, I stood,
Inhaling the sweet scent around you.

Your every expression suggested a love reciprocal.
My eager eyes found their way up scanning you
From foot to crown when you stood close to me.
On looking at you with a possessive glance,
A wild desire unfurled in me like the petals of a rose.

As our meetings grew more frequent,
You arched like a lovely rainbow
In my blank grey sky, once devoid of all color.
You came into my life not with sound,
But with the silence of a dew drop
That sticks to the blade of a leaf, glistening.

When sun sets and the world wraps in darkness,
When everyone withdraws to silent repose,
I remain awake, sometimes the whole night
Dreaming of you trying to decode every expression
That fleets past your sentient face.

I wonder what thoughts play back in your head
When you sit alone in your leisurely hours!
Do you ever dream of me or of our lovely moments together?

How I wish to suck the nectar from your lips,
As a bumble bee that digs deep into the corolla
Of a blood red aster and emerge jubilant
With pollen stuck close to its hairy body!
Now as a tattoo I wear your handwriting
On my palms for all the world to see.

When you are away, I miss you to the very core.
In the silence of the night, when the stars,
Amorously congregate around the waning moon,
I burn with desire that grows unsatiated
And I script my passions of romance
On the heaving chest of a white paper, I hold.

Premium Member Death to taxation despite representation

I walked on Cedar lane where estates used to be
Until taxes on each acre made their residents flee
The views of the Hudson are still grand
But it makes financial sense to subdivide the land.

Young couples skip the wedding vows though they feel love within,
Benefits reward the single life; the married seldom win.
There are homes with narrow fronts, the reason, if you ask
Was that the width of the home was criteria to tax.

In my county middle earners were the rule
But taxes rose, for pensions and for school
So they moved many miles to reduce their tax rate
or made the jump to go completely out of state.

It’s easy to condemn a crook who breaks the law for cash,
But did you pay your contractor “off the books” to save a stash?
And who are those guys he hired, English they speak not
He'll claim he didn't pick them up at a big box parking lot.

Taxes distort all sorts of behavior
But I have an idea that can be our savior.
Eliminate all taxation
Print money instead, save the nation!

I know this proposal could cause consternation
But think, no accountants, no weeks of preparation.
No IRS, less smuggling, less incentives to cheat:
More business formation and a better balance sheet.

If you keep cash under your mattress, its a dumb caper
In a few years it might be usable as wallpaper.
What we do doesn't work, look at the national debt.
Investing in the USA is not a long term bet.

Feds printing money might also lead to inflation
But the new April 15 could be a cause of celebration
Farmers could hand down the family farm
Without handing death taxes to the Fed's long arm.

"Death and taxes” may endure no matter what we do:
For governments find backdoor fees when old revenues fall through.
Still, I can dream, can I not?
Of an opportune rainbow, and an economy that's hot.
