Little Heidel clapped her hands
As she heard the marching bands
Monkeys came who were leading
With their funny tails beating
Colorful and cheerful drums
Ratta-tat and Rummy-tums
Next up came some marching tunes
clarinets played by baboons
Elephants marched next in line
Blowing horns, they did just fine
Heidel watched in joy at those
Now came cats, bells on their toes!
Heidel's papa jumped for joy
Up next came a little boy
Playing fiddle joyfully
Heidel laughed for she could see
Brother Petra winked an eye
As the marching band passed by
Heidel's dream was so much fun
But her nap was finally done
Wiping way' sleep from her eyes
What she did next was no surprise!
Opening her pink toy box
Found her monkeys made from socks
Happy laughter followed soon
Heidel found her toy baboon
Stuffed elephants, a toy cat
She made them march,
just like that
Heidel's papa came to see
Petra's fiddle joined with glee
Everybody shared a smile
Their joy lasted quite awhile
Heidel's toys were oh so grand
Such a happy marching band!
Heidel made her dream come true
Now her story's told to you!
Just for fun!
Dedicated to Grammy's sweet angels
My children and grandkids
Make your dreams come true!

Mummy, which one do you love more,
Who’s your favourite one?
I think you’re fishing for compliments,
You know I love you all.
Yes, but who’s the best?
Well now, let me think …
Jemima’s best on the violin
And George excels on the piano.
Harry is good at poetry
But Fiona is better at prose.
Nobody catches Edward
When he runs the hundred metres
But when it comes to long jump,
Marys far ahead.
Petra got top marks for maths
And John is good at science.
Barbara’s great at cooking.
Theresa’s needlework’s fine.
There, I think I’ve covered everyone,
They’re all good in their way.
So I don’t have a favourite.
Er… Mummy, you’ve forgotten one,
You haven’t mentioned me.
Ah well, that’s an easy one.
You ask all the best questions!
The late may sunlight is bathing a monument of Nature
so colossal in sculpted vertical structure
that it may very well be the palace complex of forgotten supermen,
stories from my childhood pastor of biblical Petra
discovered by Crusaders, or the Temple of Ramesses in Egypt
emerge in my mind as we course through this valley of watered chisled fascades,
sandstone worked by the trickles of centuries
has created craftsmanship of rusticly romanesque grandeur,
pillars, cornices, porticos, grotesque statuary
invites the imagination into the architecture of antiquity
and the legacy that looms in the landscape of divine forces,
these are the White Cliffs of America
born from the bone of Divinity
and worked by the water of will,
Coming out of the Atlantis precinct as Clark calls it
a fork in the river confronts us like a new religion
a pathway heretofore unknown to our shadowed souls,
the Hidatsas mentioned nothing of this avenue,
I am angered hot by this suprise of doom
if we choose the wrong river we find only dreadful failure,
both waterways are mighty , broad, and of a similar depth,
one goes northwest the other southwest,
I swear my brain is gonna burst,
Clark is bracing himself against a tree as if he is waiting for a heart attack,
nobody knows blue from black at this juncture
and the guys are gettin hyper as horses amid thunder,
after discussing the odds he and I return to camp
as professional officers, no doubts, only orders,
two small detachments , one led by me, the other by Ordway
will traverse on foot one river each
up to forty miles examining clues like owls on a mouse's trail,
each party is on extra alert for bear and Indians,
grizzlies have become a common monster lately
sometimes requiring 12 shots to subdue,
they are infamous for their zombie qualities
having freakish endurance and bloodlust while being injured,
as for the natives, one only knows after eyes are shown,

There are doors but you can’t knock upon them
And if they were opened
There is nothing to see if they did
Just a hollowed out space
Large enough for the width of a door
And no more
Some temples are like this
A dry sandstone and façade and fascia
Not the delving warrens of the tombs of Kings
There is nothing deep to them
The architecture is all outwards
A structure chiseled only far enough
Into the rock to suggest mighty halls within
All inwardness is written upon the outside
Depth only suggested
Rooms for these ancient vaults of time
Would be mere adornments
Their purpose is confusing
Perhaps they point to an interior
That is on the outside
An edifice that attempts to mirror
soul
Allow me to comb the anger from your hair my dear
with gentle strokes of my melodic care for you,
look at my glowing affection in the smooth mirror of love
as I move your soft mane to the side of your neck
and place my supple lips upon your lower throat with a firm kiss,
let the voice of my deep love reach into the sky of your soul tonight
I've come to explore the Petra of your body and mind
the richness of your color fills my skin
the sweet and natural smell of your longing
plays freely around my nose and tongue
as I enter the narrow passes of your hidden dreams
discovering the treasures that brutes know nothing about,
holding the secrets of your soul close to my chest
the sighs of your delicate heart land on my nerves like thick snowflakes
and they melt so slowly into my carnal desires,
I envelope the back of your hopes with my naked heat,
squeezing my arms around you as we rise to go further
and we join hip to hip
expressing the simmering movements we've felt all along our lips -

A stairway of tinted boulders reveals
The fable of old gods marking a past,
Etched on tall red-stones divinely claimed…
And as I ascend to touch a warm glow,
My feet quiver among hallowed mounds
Of blazing rocks, of sacred pillars.
In awe, I listen to Jordan’s songs
As one city’s heart flames through Siq winds
Humming through early noon’s desert trail
Which climbs inside my pulsed breath…until
Tears stumble into a warm prayer
On a rosy frame of blest temples.
Journeying to Petra silences me,
From tribal gems and inlay jars soaked in moonlit dust
To camel rides with Beduoins exploring a grandeur
I can only own within my thoughts…
For its mystique spreads on life’s essence
Where I greet the humble soul within.

City of Petra, Jordan-- one of the 7 wonders of the world
*Siq-- the entrance that lies between
Petra's red-hued mountains
You are a Venus of beauty multiplying at night,
As your City Lights adorably carpet each mountain,
The moon smiles above you with its gleam so bright;
A breathtaking view which a repertoire cannot even contain
In admiration of your panorama springing like a fountain.
The sun rejoices each day upon your vast splendid arid ground,
As spectators stride along your cascading stream of gorges,
You enchantingly cradle them into your bosom blissfully around;
Your architectural stone-mountain range spectacularly astonishes,
You are a Rose City- all is agog with your carved stones in red roses.
Oh, Petra! You’re widely admired with your unique environment,
A treasure of the world, the Nabataeans’ magnificent masterpiece;
A haven of everyone’s dream to ride and walk on every pavement,
Catering sumptuous experience in lavish pleasure making all feel at peace,
And ‘tis ballad of mine isn’t even enough to laud your great wonder and grace.

"Stone Throwers, Love's Release"
Cages
come in all shapes
and sizes
all different ages
the ones
who circle their
little locked rooms
counting time
in calm rages
steel bars
dissolving lives
scream please
release
pray for their
safety daily
for daughters
mothers
fathers
sons
Some never find
peace, freedom.
Love and kindness
somehow if
it remains and
Forgiveness
are the Key.
Hand them your
Love always -
no matter how hard -

Heartbeats Fossilized in Rose
In the valley of mountains
which surrounded loneliest desert of all time
I am visiting Petra while city glowing at sunset
with orange pink like bride
Where Mystery beauty and Shadow of sorrow
roaming for thousands years
People abandoned and forgotten
the rose red city of Petra in the dust of time
Walk through siq at sunset like fire follow me secretly
Why I am roaming in the city of resilience
which covered by time dust without sympathy
When I reached to Roman theatre
the scent of history dancing in rose red gown
with silence in his eyes
But then I closed my eyes
and heard wind whispers a story of forbidden love
Two from rival tribes
ran in siq to meet
soldiers came and mountain hold breath
they prayed rocks hide us
now they are part of stone
that is why siq sighs at dusk
Lost in the treasury and prayed
the rocks would hide them
But the canyon closed behind them
and they become part of the stone
Petra seems to magical wonderland
who stood with pride and mysteries in its crown
Mountain carved and build
the city of romance and beauty at all
I came as visitor
I left with stone in my chest
and whisper of two lovers
walking beside me through the siq
An amazonian appears over cliff ledge
Looking down at her butterfly allies
To defend her they promise with a dying pledge
In the fields beyond her stone enemies arise
She leaps into the fray, grinding rock into clay,
The butterflies rally with glimmering wings,
For they know her optimal skills have won them the day.
That’s why the butterfly chorus now sings.
Gold glittering on all sides--bright, overpowering, strong.
The butterflies dance in the breeze heading her plea.
CRASH! A landslide tumbles and rumbles… destroying the throng.
All alone now the Amazonian cries…. Two choices fight or flee….
Slowly she arises once more
Looking out at her friends hidden in the trees
She’s damaged- a site to abhor
They betrayed her and now she has fallen to her knees
A light glows from her core
“Petra must be stopped at any cost”
And she lets out her strong feminine roar
Shantelle has defeated the enemy even if she is lost.
