Maybe it's better to roam about unnoticed
To do your thing with so much pride
That you forget that some see it as a competition
That where you are in life
Is where you need to be even if you dont make waves just yet
Have you noticed that the shoreline does its work without praise
Its duty without being reminded
Yet for order to remain even the shoreline has an important part to play
I will be like the shoreline; do what is required to the best of my ability
No matter who notice
In the end it is not about being seen
It's about what will speak for you when you cant

Who listens to me when I'm down
Knows when my smile masks a frown
Who sticks with me through thick and thin
No matter the trouble I find myself in
Who is a perpetual ray of sunshine, never complains
Be winter's cold unbearable, preceding torrential rains
Who daily anticipates my every need
Fulfilling my desires, in both word and deed
You, the light of my life, my angelic wife
You whom I love here on Earth, and in the Afterlife

breast cancer runs rampant within me late mother side
whar moost every female diagnosed with emotional ride
into the depths of despair where metastatic cells pried
their way into the appendages whar din o suckling provide
did initial sustenance prior to malignant growth lied
Innocuously within fleshy tissue til oncologist could not hide
Truth from females that birthed and availed motherly guide
among most ever Harris heiress, whence treatment fried
will power to live (I can only imagine) as rogue growth did elide
as nemesis to body politick where no boxes of tissues dried
the river of tears when such news shell shocked me – I cried
for indiscriminate injustice whence fate snatched me father’s bride
shunting any trivial tit for tat resentments re: grudges aside.

no other priority but being alive matters when surgeon knife
for malignant curse forces impending mortals to value life
purposeless double mastectomy performed when invisible mass rife
with errant duty to destroy sense and sensibility commanding strife
whether circumstance involved me eldest sister (still alive) or the late wife.
me octogenarian widower father summoned breastworks when last breath
o me long deceased mother – vehemently opposed being sentenced to death
no matter visualization practiced – such as furiously swapping with broom
who truthfully cursed with ovarian cancer, which spelt her actual doom
an unstoppable toxic brew within her being that coursed as meandering flume
Time elapsed, yet still difficult to espy wedding pictures with handsome groom
that would be my 20 plus year old father unbeknownst ill fate would loom
occupying cellular wall street where awry growth jostled for room
a harbinger of lifelessness, whereby she chose creation versus burial in a tomb
many fifty odd decades after my youngest sister exited the womb!

It’s late at night by candlelight while I’m sitting here at home
picking on this old guitar without you in my arms.
The lightning flashed and something crashed and
all the lights went dim – ain’t it funny how
the storm outside is how I feel within.
I don’t know how it happened that you
up and went away and don’t know how
the weather works on any given day.
Refrain:
And all I know is the wind still blows no matter what I do
even when I’m picking on these six strings without you.
As my life goes on from song to song
while you’re out running free.
I’d burn every candle I could find
if it would bring you back to me.
Every time the light goes out something
changes in my mind; the love we had not long ago
is drifting down the line. Like a rolling train
in a tunnel made inside a mountain high;
I feel so lost without you now it feels like I could die.
Right here in my sadness and these low down hurting ways;
this candle fire lifts me up higher than all these rainy days.
Refrain:
And all I know is the wind still blows no matter what I do
even when I’m picking on these six strings without you.
As my life goes on from song to song
while you’re out running free.
I’d burn every candle I could find
if it would bring you back to me.
I sure hope that the light returns
in my house and in my soul; it’s hard to see
right front of me ever since you hit the road.
It seems all I have are these memories and melodies
and dreams; and every night the lights go out
you’re all that I can see. I’m like a blind man
in the darkness all my colors turned to gray
so I’ll keep this candle burning
hoping you’ll come back some day.
Refrain:
And all I know is the wind still blows no matter what I do
even when I’m picking on these six strings without you.
As my life goes on from song to song
while you’re out running free.
I’d burn every candle I could find
if it would bring you back to me.
As my life goes on from song to song
while you’re out running free.
I’d burn every candle I could find
from now until the end of time
if it would bring you back to me.
When searching for a philosophy on how to live…how to act and why…my search ends quite abruptly…when I look up at the sky.
The sky understands how life is always moving…how it constantly rearranges…how we must enjoy each moment…before that moment changes.
The sky is open to everyone…she has no boundaries no borderlines at all.
She accepts all entities that float in…she has no need for walls.
The sky embraces her myriad of colors…every color is a friend…
she knows her beauty is created by the way her different colors blend.
The sky rejoices at the differences in her clouds…she would never think to cause one shame…for no matter their size or shape or where they come from…she treats every cloud the same.
The sky understands there will be pain and suffering and heartache…
that lightning, tornadoes and hurricanes will amass…
but she also knows the fiercest storms will eventually come to pass.
The sky knows even in the darkest times…in the ebony of night
The moon, the planets and the stars still offer up their light.
Which is why when searching for a philosophy on how to live…
how to act and why…
I could look to the philosophers…
to books…
to religions…
but I prefer…to look up to the sky.
Leaping, nay dancing, the brook moved ahead
But blocking way stood there a dour desert.
Gingerly it took a step, mighty dread,
And found it fade in sandy sea of dirt.
A few more and I’d disappear
And it felt like a wingless bird,
Poor thing, engulfed in mortal fear,
And a voice from nearby it heard—
It was very desert ready to hurt:
It said: You know, wind can cross me well-nigh,
You also can if you really assert,
Look here, if you can’t flow, well, you can fly.
Wind well can, but I cannot fly
No matter how so hard I try,
If it is so, then take a helping hand
Of wind that would lift you from desert land,
Oh what a silly thing to say!
If not desert wind devours me.
Yes, yes, but look at it another way
Think, think, and then begin the point to see:
This wind, let it absorb you, let it gain,
Let go of your life as a brook,
The clouds so formed shall soon be rain,
Get born again a brook with a new look.
Ah crossing dry desert as rain,
Born-again brook flowed once again.

Poet’s Note: Is not death a new look at life?
we don't care if we miss the season premier
we are too busy giving in to giving in
the breeze in the darkness illuminates the equality
we are heroes to each others' sanity, and we maintain by letting go and being ourselves
i am the proud gun that you want to shoot all over you
you are the satisfied sensation that i want to shine a spotlight on
together we create a sound like a rimshot catching the spirit at its most holy
the season premier we can catch next week anyway
this moment in time we may never again recapture in the same way
after all the rewrites, the proofreading, the editing, and the reediting,
we take the almighty plunge and where we land is where we are at our most relaxed state
we take it all in and simply allow ourselves to just be free
no matter the level of desire to swoop up the remote control,
the deeper the depths, we say in our own silent way, to hell with tv

I know your tide will set me free. * *
For there is a flame and it’s been lit, * *
ignited by the KINDLE of you and me. * *

Craving of each other in weakness,
for you are my only sweetness-
Sanctified and holy with truth,
with you I’ve found completeness.
Your deep CHESTNUT eyes have made me see,
and they’ve been bound by the VOW of ETERNITY.
Sorrow has come and gone with ease,
may this sincerity never cease-
With you I’ve found a TRUSTED companion,
someone who makes me fall to my knees.
We found sapience in our sagacity,
IGNITED by the kindle of you and me.
Cupid’s arrow VOW of ETERNITY.

This poem is so meaningful to me. I have been with my hubby since I was 16 years old, I am now 39. After being married for almost 17 years, I have found that our vows are definitely for eternity.

I lay awake all through the night
While others lay asleep
As I think of you and I
The tears roll down my cheek
I cry because I love you
I cry because I care
But most of all the reason why I cry
Is you're not there
My heart is torn and bleeding
A wound I cannot heal
And in my eyes you see you the hurt
And pain I can’t conceal
I wonder if you think of me
When you are all alone
I wonder if you miss the nights of passion
We have known
I wonder if the smile you wear
Is just a fake disguise
I wonder if it's me you're seeing
When you close your eyes
You're still the beat inside my heart
The echo in my soul
The missing piece I search for
The reason I'm not whole
No matter where this life may lead
Or how the story ends
I’ll always love you just like this
It's why I cannot mend
You never will be mine again
But still I won't regret
And pray you will remember
What I never will forget...
By Raina Hutchins
I see you in your sadness,
I feel your dark despair,
if only you could see I'm here
or feel that I'm so near.
From higher realms I watch you,
protect you, keep you near,
I wipe the tears that fall each night,
just as I'll do all year.
My life took momentarily,
no warning did we share,
no time to say I love you;
nor let you know I care.
But I know your love for me is strong,
no matter how time's passed;
built on strong foundations,
this one was meant to last.
Now I've another role to fill;
as an angel set to care,
to teach and lead misguided ones;
new lives to prepare.
But still I hold you nearest me,
I'm sure you've felt my touch,
I hear you when you talk to me,
For I love you love so much.
And one day when the time is right,
we'll be as one as such;
then you will understand and see
how from higher realms I watch.
