At night, I kneel before the dark
Say my prayers and park
Next to the swimming pool of dreams
While losing consciousness
I sing songs pretending to be
The Dream Master.
I dive into the dreamworld
Submersing myself into lucidity
Attempting to get 6 to 8 hours of sleep.

Daytime sleep is different
Usually starts around 1 or 2 o’clock, a siesta!
Usually, I begin by laying on my back
Close my eyes, maybe wear a solid batman mask
And prepare myself.
There’s a huge pool of dream energy
An aquarium bubble on the opposite side of Earth
That’s ½ that’s in the dark ... all sleeping
In this gigantic Dream Bauble
So far away ... I lure it to me
Singing my dreamsongs and as I close my eyes
I lose clarity then regain it by “seeing”
This Dream Bubble floating toward me
I reach out and put it on like a backpack
A Dream Battery Pack and I’m hooked in
So much dream energy pumping thru my brains
Both halves being zapped simultaneously
So powerful, I only need about
45 minutes to an hour
To fully recharge!

I love power naps!

The mysteries of sleep
                              Long nights with many interruptions
The light bulb in my head will not die out
despite the fact that the body is heavy and tired
                                     Nothing should be untried ...
the most important hours of rest

I walk back and forth through
                                         the silence of the house
In the flickering fire of my thoughts
If sleep was not essential for good health,
would probably mother earth not prioritize
that we should spend 1/3 of the day sleeping
                                Sleeping Beauty woke up refreshed
( She slept for 100 years
even for a princess's heart way too long )
The hunt for a rested morning

The Nap Master
HAIL the astral world of utterance,
one befalls to eavesdrop whisperings of their sweet nothings,
breathlessly whisking up a spell of portioned scents that, nay,
spilled china of eddied creamed joys and demitasse gooey treats,

BEHOLD the phoenix rises to a full exalting measure,
neath a lunar ecliptic mystic hypnotic apathy,
upon a peacock's crown whose spread out azure-chartreuse wings,
adorns unsnared midst manes of an unbridled vehement trot,

ONWARD it leaped a skipped array of a vivid rainbow's path,
of free glides during its phases of warm air in a chilled sky,
as it spread o'er vast terrains of dale and vale of culled greens,
tethered to tawny treasures of teemed lives infinite mirth wants,

BEHEST of Cherubs advent of endless stars braving her crown,
on their sailed galleons of whimsical twinkling vigilance,
seducing a flock of blithe bleating lambs a respectful ride,
on fluffed souls, nursing meek minions to ripple a fair surge,

CHANNELS a righteous domain free of a distant storm,
pushed by the lashes of sunbeams citrus lemony whips,
that ade stirred mouth fulls of dryness seeking quenching,
gouging the top echelon of expecting lips full measure,

ADHERED to heart pulsates that steady the gauge of innocence,
unique mild credulity cushioned amongst penitent palms,
and tinseled charm of enamored superheroes noble acts,
save the divine a full accounting listing each wonder,

CLUSTERS of mirrors enlightened volumes of a sojourned quest
of luminous unconsciousness prominent in such a phase,
the inner realm expanse that dwells in hallowed gifted slumber,
all grouped banking muses within the treasury of their mind,

ALL delicately locked by the key master . . .
. . . their fortuitous magnitude of eyelids.

Nap Time

In the astral world of utterance, one overhears the whispering of sweet nothings, breathlessly whisking up a spell of portioned scents that nay, nearly spilt the teacups swirled cremes delights and demitasse gooey treats,

Behold the phoenix rise to full measure under a lunar ecliptic mystic mesmerizing trance, upon a peacocks crown, whose stretched out azure-chartreuse wings, becomes enmeshed betwixt the manes of an unbridled passionate gallop,

For it leaped towards a skipping array of a colorful rainbow's path, that was freely dancing throughout its phases within the warmth air of a frozen sky,

As it spread o'er a vast terrain of mounds and vales of gathered greens tethered to tawny treasures teeming of life with no end at joyful pleasures,

Thus at the behest of Cherubs during the advent of endless stars whose dreamy light twinkles instructions that seduces a flock of whimpering lambs a free ride on their woolly souls,

Fostering meek minions to flow in the channels of a righteous domain free of a distant storm pushed by the lashes of sunbeams tickled whips temperate to your hearts enchanted beats that steadies the gauges of innocence,

And as a cluster of mirrors enlightened volumes of your sojourned quest of luminous unconscious prominence in a period of this, your inner realm expanse, collectively storing away as romantic muses within the anthology of your memory as its key

All delicately locked by the fortuitous magnitude of your eyelids.

Halloween Nap

I took a little Halloween nap.
With a bowl of candy on my lap.
I guess I ignored all the doorbell ringing.
And all the kids singing.
If I could go back to a few hours ago…
Maybe I’d be able to hand out this candy shaped toe.
But instead, I disappointed the whole neighborhood.
If I had another chance I would…
But all the kids went home.
After this night they roam.
I hope next year, I don’t fall asleep again.
Without the doorbell waking me within.
But there was one last knock at 8:02.
So I grabbed the candy bowl and flew.
Over to hear “Trick or Treat!”
A young boy wanted some candy to eat.
So I was as generous as could be.
With my large bowl of candy.
Then I went to my room and ate what was left.
Sure, some children probably felt bereft.
But now, I’m feeling tired again…
After all this sugar within.
Sure, it’s fun to hand out candy on Halloween.
But hanging out in my room with so much candy to be seen?
Is pretty nice after all.
Until I walked down the hall.
Saw toilet paper hanging from the tree.
And smiled because toilet paper isn’t free!

Premium Member Enjoying a Nap In the Garden

A hint of blue dissolving into fragrant blossoms of love
Hummingbird’s wings in a frenzy, coming in from above.
August magic, showing off shine of bean stalk’s verdant leaves.
Monarchs fluttering toward a marigold, riding the breeze.

When a dreamer climbs that stalk, he sees a new world completely.
The giants who arrive are enthralled with him, and soften him sweetly.
Afraid to annoy the gods of another world, they give him the best of their day.
He likes being treated like a baby; his eyes flutter as he dreams far and away.

Redemption is never far away, they allow the young one to enjoy his sleep.
He is fighting pirates, running from a black cougar, his REM is quite deep.
He has ample time to enjoy his slumber, his back holding down meadow bed.
The flowers watch him silently, wondering that he can sleep like the dead.

Dulled by the half-light of a Luna moth, coming in for the evening shift,
Our hero blinks his eyes and realizes his day has been a little adrift.
His wife comes to the garden, to see if he is all right, doing okay.
He blinks at her, happy to see her smiling face, at the end of a sweet day.

Premium Member Poppy tries to nap

Poppy was like the old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she barely knew what to do.
They always arrived in stacks of tens, still at home are twenty-two.
Today she thought she would sneak off and take a nap, maybe two.

The children were alarmed, where was mama mouse?
They ran room to room, yelling up the house.
They could not imagine where their mama could be of course.
Since she always toils from sun to sun, like a working horse.

Mama! Mama! Are you okay? The ones who found her said.
She turned over and plopped a pillow tightly onto her little head.
Everyone is worried! We called grandma Mama too!
Mama’s eyes opened wide. Cleaning right now is what she had to do.

Premium Member A Nap

Every day at this time I need a rest;
A bit of time when I can close my eyes.
Finding some quiet can be quite the quest.
And, if I do, it’s a real surprise.
Sneak off in silence and say no goodbyes…
Letting anyone know would be unwise.

Afternoon shutdown of my tired brain
Makes quality productivity lack.
Keeping my focus becomes such a strain.
I can’t get things done. I can’t stay on track.
I’m told to get up and go get a snack
But too much of this, the boss blows his stack.

My eyes grow heavy, my mind wanders off.
Coworkers laugh as I constantly yawn.
“Get to bed earlier!” I hear them scoff.
It’s not the late night. It’s the early dawn,
And how sleeping time is so quickly gone,
Plus how the work day just drags on and on…

If you want me to get all my work done,
Give me a nap, if only a short one.

Premium Member If You Speak Dog

I heard the dog let out a long drawn out
Exasperated, disgusted sigh.
Before I saw her.
She was on the bed,
But since she is ebony, she had disappeared
In the bowels of a black coat I had left there.

She wants to go to bed, thank you kindly.
Just go! I say, sternly.
She opens not an eye.
Just gives me another loud, disturbing yawn.
Letting me know it is past her bedtime and
She is not happy about it.

She is already on a bed,
But if you speak dog you will realize
This is the problem.
She is unhappy because
I am not on that bed too.
Dogs have mastered the
G in the guilt department.
