Premium Member My Humbug Melts Away

Here we go again,
I’ll have to count to ten,
It’s Christmas time once more,
Christmas songs ‘n every store.

It’s bound to cost a mint
It’s gunna make me skint
And all for just one day
Please make it go away!

The wife’s all in a tizz
I’ve forgotten the Buck’s Fizz
And the Christmas tree’s not right
Not straight when it’s upright.

And the Garland I’ve just bought
She tells me is too short
And the lights are on the blink
Got to find that dodgy link.

The supermarket’s crammed,
The car parks are all jammed,
And the sprouts have gone amiss
Cannot cross them off my list!

But I do this every year
Trying to find the Christmas cheer
It seems a waste of time
But by New Year I’ll be fine.

Then my granddaughter comes knocking
Wants to see her Christmas stocking
Then she reads her Santa’s list
Saying she wants ‘this and this and this!!’

So the humbug inside of me
Melts beside the Christmas tree
As she asks ‘grandad will it snow?’
I say ‘sweetheart let’s hope so!’

the lights are on but nobody is home,
the confused elderly mumble and roam,
at the nursing desk they stand,
their minds in another land,
no shoes, no clothes, the hair could use a comb.

An incredible journey, a delightful insight,
Performing under the big top,
Flying through air, on a wing and a prayer,
Hanging just like a plumb bob,

And the tent is in black, all lights are on you,
Dressed in your leather costume,
Every eye in the house cradles your frame,
Hoping you don’t fall to your doom,

But you manage to fly, with invisible truth,
You manage to belong in the air,
Growing your wings where wings shouldn’t be,
Holding hands with someone upstairs,

And the crowd, well they don’t believe what they saw,
The crowd you know you’ve deceived,
Because the applause is enormous, bigger than big,
For you, on the Flying Trapeze.

Thankful

On Halloween.
There are ghosts to be seen.
And a skeleton.
Candy disappearing by the ton.
Porch lights are on.
Costumes we don.
During this holiday.
I don’t mind having to pay.
For candy that spreads delight.
Or a costume that doesn’t fit right.
At the end of the night, I sit in my room.
My sister walks in, wearing a witch costume.
There’s time for the party tonight…
But I’d rather sit by the moonlight.
I don’t want to turn into a werewolf.
I don’t want to be a haunted doll, all by myself.
This Halloween night.
I give my sister the last candy bite.
Thanksgiving is the next holiday.
But why can’t Halloween be a thankful day?
With so much candy to eat.
And sisterly love that can’t be beat.

The world outside

Listening to the world outside
Wish I could span my horizon far and wide
No joy from all the usual things
I cringe when my favourite singer sings

Sat in my own little world
Sat all alone my world turning cold
I want to break free of the shell I'm in
And embrace myself in everything

Locked in a box, but I have the key
Even my mirror doesn't see me
Darkness around even though its light
I have no energy for this fight

Sounds make me jump, silence is scary
If I scream would anyone hear me?
Not knowing which way to turn
Feeling normal is all I yearn

Lights are on to keep the shadows away
But as soon as there off they come out to play
Nothing around me feels familiar
What a terrible start its been to this year

They say they can help but don't know how
Is that what a humans life is worth now?
When the simple things are taken away
All that's left is skin and bones that stay

I want to listen to a song
One I know has my heart
But my ears can't register what song is playing
My mind it seems is slowly dying

Sat at the window, sat in a shell
Nobody is coming to free me from this hell
Lights are on but nobody's home
My mind left freely just to roam

Is this really how it ends?
My mind going round the bend
I sit here slowly falling to dust
Saving my life is a must

I cannot see clearly no more
I wonder what all this fighting was for
Depression and mania have hit me hard
Not giving my life any regard

I'm a shell I need to break free
Is anybody coming to rescue me
I'm in a bind stuck in my mind
I'm sitting here, but I'm not hard to find

Premium Member Don't tell mamma

don't tell his mamma
how the sun did not rise today
although it was a cloudless dawn
he could only feel the coldness of rain

don't tell his mamma
how he is hiding his grief
although he may not flow in tears
he is consumed with sorrows

don't tell his mamma
how he is trying to ignore the demons
although he looks strong
he is crumbling inside

don't tell his mamma
how he sits alone in his room
although the lights are on
he can only see the darkness

don't tell his mamma
how lonesome he feels
although he is loved and adored
he feels no one really understands

don't tell his mamma
how only melancholic songs appeal
although he is silent
he plays them on repeat to help him feel

don't tell his mamma
how he has not eaten in days
although his pantry is full of food
he no longer feels the pangs of hunger

don't tell his mamma
how he can no longer control his thoughts
although his mind is sane
he did not sleep all night

don't tell his mamma
how he feels there is no cure for his illness
although he has pills galore
he feel they have no impact

don't tell his mamma
how he feels he has lost his purpose
although his garden still blossoms
he can only see dead blooms

don't tell his mamma
how he searches for a father he never had
although he is a role model to many
he is a guide without a mentor

don't tell his mamma
how tired he has become
although he will continue to smile
he is not afraid if he does not see a new dawn

don't tell his mamma
how he ignores my voice
although he can hear me
he refuses to reignite his fire

please tell his mamma
how he does not want her to worry
although he is falling
he knows he will get back up one day

Premium Member Coming or Going is up to Her

oh good, the lights are on, the McHenry family cheered
they loved visiting Auntie Mable
As they approached the door she came out wearing a coat
Oh, dear, she told them. I have concert tickets. I was just leaving.
They left, disappointed because she baked the best cookies.

Ten minutes later old Mister Groggins showed up
noting the lights were on.
Good, he thought, because Mable was his favorite listener.
As he was about to knock the door opened.
Mable said “Come in, come in, I was just coming home from the store.”

Mable keeps her coat next to the front door on a hook.
Depending upon who knocks,, she can say she is either coming or going.

The Ruling Elite

They wear no crown, yet kings they reign,
Invisible hands in shadowed domain.
Their thrones are silence, veiled from sight—
Yet nations move by whispered might.

You vote, you cheer, you wave your flag,
But strings are pulled beneath that rag.
The leaders bow, the crowds applaud—
But who commands? Not whom you laud.

Money—their gospel, gold—their law,
They script your fate with subtle claw.
From towers high to beggar’s street,
The world is ruled by the unseen elite.

Foreign policy, war, and peace,
Are carved in rooms where masks don’t cease.
Decisions inked in midnight air—
You’ll fight their wars, yet unaware.

Trump or Biden, EU’s face,
Are actors cast to play their place.
The stage is dressed, the lights are on,
But behind the scenes, the truth is gone.

They own the banks, the food, the schools,
They set the price, they write the rules.
A web so vast, precise, and spun,
No sovereign man escapes its run.

Think twice before you claim you're free,
When all your thoughts are fed by feed.
The screens, the news, the books you read—
All gardens grown from poisoned seed.

You feel in charge—your vote, your voice—
But all is shaped, you have no choice.
They crafted dreams in which you live,
And gave you just enough to give.

They walk unseen, they toast with wine,
As empires fall by grand design.
And yet you sleep, and still believe,
That freedom lives beneath your sleeve.

Oh mourn, oh rise, or stay asleep,
While wolves still herd the faithful sheep.
The power you seek, the truth you crave—
Is buried in the minds they’ve made.

Premium Member Christmas Guinea Pigs

Twelve guinea pigs are placed under my Christmas tree,
Brightly colored pegs and tiny ribbons on ears,
They run around, so lovely!
When Christmas lights are on, they stand and bow
In glowing scarfs- red, green and white
They sound, “We’re your Christmas pets.
We’re all here now”.

Oh, how lovely!
You are my Christmas pets! I said
Can I bring you all after Christmas Eve under my bed?
I’ll take care of you until New Year comes
While I wait for New Year
Is that the year of your Mom?

I heard a humor but I know it’s true,
It has similar name but much bigger than all of you
Chinese calendar showed its huge body bank
A golden symbol filled with joy, health, wealth
And bountiful blessings and love?
Then, you’ll welcome with me soon,
Guinea Pigs with lots of cheers and big bangs.

Premium Member A Rockwell Christmas Child

Tree lights are on, and dinner's done
A tummy full from Christmas cake
A sticky face from candy canes
A cookie plate with Santa's name
Stockings hung, by the fireplace
And traces of some sleepy faces

They rub their eyes, they hide their yawns
And daddy tells a story, old
While mommy shares a bedtime song
And bedside prayers, on knees, behold

A touch of snow, upon the lawn
And night will glisten, till the dawn

At last the house is silent
They're tucked away and sleeping
Tomorrow down the winding stairs
We'll see them all come leaping
The lights are on, the stockings plump
And laughter squeals without a stop

Then soon the fun begins, unwrapping
Treasured moments, worth embracing
With faces bright and shining

It all takes place on Christmas morn...
A magic moment. Just imagine !!!
If this was Christmas, everywhere
no matter where, or one's belief
a new joy could be born
