Premium Member If I Was Your Poem

If I was your poem, with my soul left wide open, by your words
Would I be blessed by your pen, or be wounded by your swords

Would you lift me up, or take your chance to then cut me down
Sail me across an ocean, or let me capsize and as left to drown

My life would be in your hands as written within your own lines
Would I recognize all the innuendos be able to see all the signs

See all the characteristics; that I would otherwise be blinded to
Would I have a better understanding of myself and all that I do

Or better still, would I then have a better understanding of you
Of a character assassination, and a picture of me that you drew

Would I . . .

In one short conversation:

First lie- you paid for the grandparent's funeral. No, it was already paid by them in advance with their money thru someone else.

Second lie-you know she didn't like our father; no, I despised your father. The father abused me, because he knew about the real father.

Third lie-It was all about the poisoned chicken, innuendos and leading him to believe you by saying "you know she never liked father."

Fourth lie- I called her when father died, lie, lie, lie.

Fifth lie-She copied your photos from Facebook, no they were shared, willingly. A snoop and liar.

Sixth lie-I don't know her last name, oh really even though it was in the obituary that she submitted for the father.

Seventh, the truth-I haven't talked to her in like thirty years, well that was the only truth.

Every time you lie you have a snarky little "huh, hu".
after you tell it, a little "huh, hu".

How many times have you lied? God knows, I know.

Too many times, God knows, I know, they knew.

Soon others will see right through your fake smiles, tears and lies.

There really are monsters who walk among us, they are keeping dark secrets and covering them with their lies, their mask is made all pretty with a smile and a compassionate look.

Shame on all who manipulate, lie and control others with an agenda, bent on revenge and getting even, as it was once said by the liar.

I can tell you that there are people out there who will twist, bend and make stories up to fit their lies. I know some who have even gone so far as to invent stories to create a fake relationship they supposedly had with someone to sabotage that person's other relationships. Even lying about how close they were to someone they are lying about. Then telling those "I don't know why "huh, uh" she doesn't love me, I love her." All the while the mask they wear is crying, but only for an effect.

The Political Circus

See that you've found the circus
We're so glad that you got the invite
Entertainment that is certainly worth it
As it's all being televised

Whether or not Republican or Democrat
Go ahead and stand in line
It's moving along rather quickly
The clowns are waiting inside

In the center there's the Ringmaster
Keeping his face hidden from view
Just pretend he's not even here
As it really doesn't concern any of you

Enjoy a 20 dollar cotton candy
Washing it down with a 16 ounce Tasty Freeze
Remember all are eligible to vote now
As we no longer require an I.D.

Might want to keep an eye on the lions
As they all bite the hand that feeds
Right before they go back into hiding
Until there's something else that they need

Hope you don't mind if we turn down the lights
There are things you don't need to see
We know what's best for you anyways
So there's really no need for you to worry

Here at the greatest show on earth
Filled with rumors, innuendos, and lies
If the truth here is ever heard
You would never believe your own eyes

So bring your family out to the circus
With open arms we welcome you all
Of course we keep our hands behind our backs
Hiding that which you really don't need to know...

Premium Member The Mask

The world has screamed through masks
Of silent anxieties, hiding beneath
Liquid sterility and haunting innuendos

The world has prayed for a new dawn
To take the place of this fear
Locked up inside a heart who pounds
Darkness, dread and daunting
Deaths

The world has longed for a second chance
To color life in hues of hope
Yet it is blinded by tragedy and worry
Endless feelings of loss and loneliness
Left behind from the sorrows

The world has gone from bad to worse
In the hands of a distant horror
Found on the threads of shady thoughts
Which have left us all with a hopeless
Reluctance to go back to the place
Normal embraced

The world is ruled by fear today
And God is a God of love – He is love
So fight the blackness of dismay
And listen to the kindness and hope
Found in the One we all pray to
He will heal our hearts and our thoughts!

I can’t rid of the bags under my eyes
The crowfeet despise, all were lies,
Conjured was an illusion of you
Throughout my groping confusion
evasive, flimsy
A-m-o-r-p-h-i-c, innuendos
I was subjected to your derision
dissing me relentlessly
deriding my appearance,
disparaging my intellect
as I stumbled and fell into the abyss
Mocking doesn’t suit my countenance
My lips desert dry, thirsty, parched
An amazon no longer beats its drum
My buoyant nature now laden with coarsened shroud
Leaving a cardboard moon deprived of its shine
Stars like candles blown out one by one
No use waiting for the rising Sun
The end of world does come,
stopped spinning neath heavy ebon clouds
Expectations unreal
All zeal gone, listless is my spirit
along with my illumination
Now you see me
unmasked in raw anguish

torment endured
like the drenched and cold, wounded hawk
taken flight, eagle-eyed, a warrioress
more determined and bold, traveling on
with unlimited range
and self-esteemed
This bird,
 you

Life is a Canoe Ride
For Those Born in America
Written: by Tom Wright
5/29/2019

We’re situated equal, in life’s canoe, to start the game,
Some will choose to drift, reluctant to work for acclaim.

Many are judicious, shirkers use excuses or place blame,
They survey others, claiming entitlement to the same.

Some accept living in squalor, feeling no guilt or shame,
Using sharp tongues and innuendos to possess and inflame.

Unwilling to man a paddle as a free ride is their aim,
Not realizing, a sinking canoe, drowns each occupant the same.

But not for man’s greed”

Premium Member A Daily Testimony of a World's Decline

My daily drive; today through pouring rain,
Behind road fog snaking towards me from the truck ahead,
Slowly approaching the cloud-shrouded glass and metal,
Framed by downtown's bustling highways.

Graffiti on walls and overpasses define the city climate
Testimony of a divided space and time
Obscenities litter the viaducts and road signs
Racial slurs and sexual innuendos graphically apparent.

Beggars crowd each corner light.
Wheel chaired homeless; missing limbs and teeth,
Huddled beneath layers of sweaters and tattered jackets,
Mumbling into their private cyberspace of unreality.

Parking lots crowded with brown skinned men,
Waiting for one day's employment to wander by,
Speaking a language that is becoming the norm,
Twelve deep clustered in one room flats.

Sirens wail as the babies cry,
Crack head infants abandoned to a depleted system,
Children birthing children into a burdened structure,
Seams bursting in the waistcoat of mankind.

and swirl inside of innuendos. They claim desires, the desire of longing

The desires of love, they demand yet make no claims
Opening hearts leads to bloodshed, despair, agony
The dance of desire leads only to emptiness
So on misty clouds, the dancer dance
Entwined in thought, yet never that first kiss

Sadly the love fades into the night

The World Has Gone Rabid

Whatever happened to Jansports and Tevas
-By the fire side and courage the cowardly dog
The unending episodes of the famous five
-And ice pellets we used to pick In the rains .

Whatever happened to good deeds,
and where did all the good people go ?
A minute for the woman who sighed for a jiffy,
-died within negligence on a solemn night

Whatever happened to the garden city and the verdant greens ..
Whatever happened to humanity and empathy ..
Whatever happened to Plantas and Refresh ..
Whatever happened to High morals and modesty..

Whatever happened to equal opportunities ,
and all the square pegs that didn’t fit the round holes?
What happens to the misfits and odd souls ?
-Their dreams ,ideas and innuendos .
What happens to the ones low on self esteem and self worth?

Or there’s not enough second chances .
Or maybe they weren’t good enough in recovering from their mishaps .
Or perhaps people don’t really care that much .
Or perhaps we embraced narcissism in the name of self love .

Whatever happened to tolerance and equality , and everything good we preached?
What happens to all the junk and the tears when they reach the sea ?
How about ghosts hovering around on the Mediterranean and the decomposing bodies on the Sahara ?

What happens to the faces that were murdered even before they took suicide ?
What happens to the pleas from Aleppo and the fading unheard echoes from Nubia

Whatever happened to love for all hatred for none
Whatever happened to freedom and justice
Whatever happened to achieving unity and solidarity
Whatsoever happened maintaining world peace and fostering cooperation

So when will your sympathy and empathy finally merge and lend a helping hand to ones on the verge ?

So when will the tides turn
And the boundaries finally fortified
From imposters and self serving narcissist ?

When will the lending ears hear our solemn withering plight ?
-And the blind pundits “waste no time in sterile litanies and nauseating mimicry.”

I guess they never have
I guess they never will
Damn!

Secretly Obsessed

Obsessed with the thought of you
wondering if it's only me or
if you sometimes remember the sweet things you've said
and if you meant them how I took them
or if I'm just obsessed with what's in your head

Obsessed with your very sentences
Every response I take personal
I know it's selfishness
Have you not noticed my eyes?
They hold secrets that only you can unlock
if you'd just take time to fill the thick juices of my pride
It's just boiling with lust, passion, trust and distrust
and other things I obsess over so much

I find myself writing to free myself from this prison I've created
where only you and I reside
I become confused about what I'm really feeling inside and I
try to rid the thoughts that are highly debated as false and I
begin to cry and
think of casting love spells so that the universe can deliver this affair
I know it's unfair
but I don't care

I'm obsessed with what hasn't happened between us
I'm obsessed with your heart and that the fact that
I don't think you've even noticed my selfish innuendos
and secret undertones that blatantly express my lust
Or maybe you have and you calmly remain in resistance of distrust
If you could only read my mind by simply touching my fingertips,
I'm sure I'd catch you out the corner of my eye biting your bottom lip
I'm obsessed with the passion and thoughts I think you have
Obsessing over an experience that I may never have....
