connected by a net of misconception
venomous spider’s webs
spun a murky vapour
synapses raged and festered in a Self
frozen on autopilot with anger and regret

an endless loop of thoughts and feelings
simply refused to thaw and forgive
permafrost allowed no seasons
subglacial lakes slushed an underworld
of resentment in nervous fear and self-pity

irrevocably he had always been a hoarder
collector of trivia banality and serious gloom
icicled intransigence frostbitten mind
so much that hellfire appeared
to be a welcome proposition

he had ingested incorporated inhaled
so very much nonsensical rubbish
there hardly was a tiny space
for respite and inspired respiration
he nearly suffocated on himself

out he breathed out from his lungs
his spirit soul and desperation
and there was just a small fog of warmth
that graced his near expiring Self
a meltdown of considerable strength
mist of recovery and heat of the moment
that he promised himself to live
reside in the here and now
one day at a time

Hitler accidentally bombed his nephew's house in Liverpool
So his nephew joined the U.S. to fight with the Allies

A blue whale's tongue weighs more than an elephant
Now, aren't you really glad you tuned in?

There are two hundred million insects for every human
Wouldn't have gone camping if I knowed that!

We weigh slightly less when the moon is directly overhead
Due to the gravitational effect
Too bad the moon doesn't shine all day

100 lightning strikes occur worldwide every second
Stay indoors!!!

Humans grow about 8mm every night while asleep
But revert back to their normal height the next day
Oh so glad, otherwise we'd spend a fortune on new clothes

250 people have fallen off the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Guess they leaned a little bit too much

1 in 28 American school-aged children
Have a parent in either state or federal prison
Holy crap! A really great example to follow

A single healthy human male produces enough sperm
In two weeks to impregnate every fertile woman on the planet
Uh! I volunteer my services... no charge!

Although gold is a heavy dense metal
It is generally considered non-toxic
Gold flakes may even be ingested in foods or drinks
No wonder restaurant meals are so high

Pope Francis once worked as a bouncer in a Buenos Aires bar
“Doing God's work?”

Mozart wrote a canon entitled “Leck mich im Arsch”
Which loosely translated means “Lick my derriere”

The Hummingbird Cake

"The Hummingbird Cake"

The day started bright -

Bright Eggshell Blue
and ended in percussion
dark and cloudy stormed in
thunder pummelled drums
against a backdrop of
bruised eggshell dijon yellow
sweating heavy sage green
spitting spoilt the swollen pride of purple,
a wet abrasion against
Electric Blue
crackling along her lips
like Lightening

Sizzled on
her bitumen

her mind
winked at you...

Splits two
into one
not three

Taken slowly
deliberately
cake digested
swallowed like swallows
nibbling freely on air
a symphony of do you see me
in a Hummingbird storm

stairs to you she stares
upwards forever upwards
at lines of ebony tied tight
words kick and spit
like a cat in heat caught up
in a hessian sack
words in a puzzle
shaken and caste
on a playing board
pure white
not black

She,
Third person,
always Third person,
listens to her own heart
and then listens to the
words you have put on
and slowly worn warm

Revisits in her evening
a conversation with an old friend
Lorikeets on the balcony
Passionfruit cake and their
beaks in honey
a day in the life of Mosman
Carmen the dancer
Blueberries and
Raspberry Banana Bread
and Gold Crested
Pterodactyl Cockatoos
commandeering her kitchen
her gangster lovers
dead ends and loose screws

The day started bright blue
Ended in a thunder clap
boiling over onto a glowing hotplate
of flying embers,
reckless kisses and an unplanned

Storm;

A piece of Hummingbird Cake
was fed through a thread

In dreams while you watched
a movie in bed

Spoken to you
through
mind cerebral
not Reality read

Poppyseed and Honey
Bees buzzing on swollen
unheard lips

that silently bled Red

Words
Meanings

Life
Read
Red

Sugar ingested,
Honey to Blue Horse Flies.

Australiana
Fed.

Sleep,
Bed.

Rejected

12/21/19

Not going to pretend it
I've been feeling rejected
And disrespected
Nothing I said and did
Was effective
Time I take a sedative
Or maybe 10 of them

Was fine one minute then out the next second
THC, pharmaceuticals and alcohol ingested
For the pain, but it doesn't end it
Until it all really sets in
And I'm in another dimension
Where there's no depression
I guess it's
Kind of like a respite
But then reality sets in

Continually tested
And tempted
Many nights I never rested
I've been disoriented
Don't know what direction I'm headed
But I shall not be bested
Or subjected
To anything wretched

I got to be intrepid
Getting wiser and improving methods
So there won't be no crash or wreckage

According to legends
And first hand accounts from veterans
I don't think you get the message

They talk of being destined
And how it can be manifested
Getting closer to the exit
One day it all will have ended
Whether or not, it was unexpected

Might not make it to being old and decrepit
And just may die alone, with no friendships

My nephew dyslexic
And this girl I know, is anorexic
In a world so hectic
It'll break you down, if you let it
Turning into something unpleasant
Whether your an adult or adolescent

No longer very majestic
It's becoming pathetic
I'm tired of being authentic and poetic
As well as what trended
And is recommended
Regardless, they're never going to give credit
Later on or in the present

The Daily Bread

The Daily Bread

The Lord has brought forth the table
from the wood carried on His back
in order to prepare a feast
with the ingredients of a master chef
in knowing how to fulfill ones appetite
would you sit down at the chair
for the Lord has hand crafted
each individual person a seat
woe to those who push it away
for without this menu one shall starve
their soul to be withered by dust
as mud poured out on hot pavement
Only by the bread of the Lord
shall we be ingested with living nutrients
which brings forth knowledge and life
to seek out each day to press on
for this bread will begin
to be manufactured within
if we allow Him to set up inside
The Lord has presented water
to allow one to drink from the cup
flowing out His body
which is fed from the living springs
that flows from above
no one shall thirst that drinks
for it shall bring one wisdom and guidance
to walk in the lighted path
Give us Lord our daily bread
that was poured down from heaven
with a purpose to help, to heal,
and to point us to the Almighty Father
that we may submit and bury the old self
and be a vessel for the Lord
to tell the Good News so that people
could share in Christ’s glory

Withered Roses
by Allama Iqbal
loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch

What shall I call you,
but the nightingale's desire?

The morning breeze was your nativity,
an afternoon garden, your sepulchre.

My tears welled up like dew,
till in my abandoned heart your rune grew:

this memento of love,
this spray of withered roses.

Ehad-e-Tifli (“The Age of Infancy”)
by Allama Iqbal aka Muhammad Iqbal
loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch

The earth and the heavens remained unknown to me,
My mother's bosom was my only world.

Her embraces communicated life's joys
While I babbled meaningless sounds.

During my infancy if someone alarmed me
The clank of the door chain consoled me.

At night I observed the moon,
Following its flight through distant clouds.

By day I pondered earth’s terrain
Only to be surprised by convenient explanations.

My eyes ingested light, my lips sought speech,
I was curiosity incarnate.

Excerpt from Rumuz-e bikhudi (“The Mysteries of Selflessness”)
by Allama Iqbal aka Muhammad Iqbal
loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch

Like a candle fending off the night,
I consumed myself, melting into tears.
I spent myself, to create more light,
More beauty and joy for my peers.

Longing
by Allama Iqbal
loose translation by Michael R. Burch

Lord, I’ve grown tired of human assemblies!
I long to avoid conflict! My heart craves peace!
I desperately desire the silence of a small mountainside hut!

Life Advice
by Allama Iqbal
loose translation by Michael R. Burch

This passive nature will not allow you to survive;
If you want to live, raise a storm!

Destiny
by Allama Iqbal
loose translation by Michael R. Burch

Isn't it futile to complain about God's will,
When you are indeed your own destiny?

The Taconic Parkway Tragedy

Diane was like any other Long Island mother,
but on July twenty six she made an horrible mistake by smoking pot,
resulting in the death of five beautiful kids, as young as five,
and three passengers in a SUV driving northbound;
she drove intoxicated, erratically going the wrong way, plowed into this Chevy Trailblaser,
but her son Brian miraculously survived the crash...
frantically shaking her bleeding mom and desperately crying by her side!
Did she hear him? She was dying, and couldn't caress his adorable face!

Why did Diane get behind the wheel so high and under the influence?
Did she need a quick-fix to get away from her problems or illness?
I will not judge her, but the facts point the finger at her!
Mothers, drive sober on dangerous highways, be alert and avoid a crash!
You will regret it, if this results in the death of someone you love;
don't let the guilt forever linger on your conscience: do you see yourself
deeply moarning by a grave that shouldn't have been there;
and what will flowers do...console those who cannot hear, feel or love?

Out there, more mothers like Diane...hallucinated by visions,
drive recklessly because of ingested, harmful alcohol;
others mix liquor with marijuana or other illegal drugs,
and think that they have conquered the world with their high,
and they may not see another day when they lay there and die!
Listen you all, put down your rolled-up papers, and drinks,
save yourselves and your own children who deserve to live full lives;
don't cut them short...would you rather stare at their pictures on the wall?

Diane might have been nice and loving before taking the wrong path,
don't we all when our expectations don't exceed our wishes?
Whatever they may be, it would be wise to be satisfied with what you have accumulated;
don't ask for miracles with your undeserving prayers...they will not be admonished!
Start with humbleness and dedicate yourself to the noblest cause:
helping others, inspiring anyone who admires you...tackling their desire to live!
And what will be your reward? Only eldless joy...without the terrible spectacle of death!
The Taconic Parkway tragedy could have been avoided, if she had had more love to give!

Exclamation, Parenthesis

It's relatively a slow process.
A thought builds upon anticipation.
Thanks to the nostalgia ingrained by Disney.
Musically the songs are different.
Granted the press of a thumb.
Spotify, Pandora.
An assortment of different streams all profoundly deep.
Separately, the adaptation is the same.
Boy meets girl.
Eyes go on vacation.
Suddenly we're dressed in leisure.
Beautiful sights ingested by the brochures of a hotel lobby.
Just yesterday none of this seemed possible.
Everything crowed into the bends of a folded booklet.
Lost in the sensation of influential taste.
This was my outlook.
A yesterday morning spent in the hotel lobby of my own interest.
I am in sense booking my own fear.
This slow process that begins it's advance.
A millennium that begins a couple seconds past twelve.
She was the art visually spread across the brochure.
With arms wide open I fell in.
Speeding up this process ever slightly.
I still a consumer at best.
Her being the best vacation I ever been.
I am in sense booking my own fear.
Her love.
Further more exploring the secret of her parenthesis
