Dreams Erode
The young and naive question their fate;
expecting love, unprepared for hate.
Armored with lies, defending the truth,
a warrior lives: inside each youth.
Scars and tattoos display anger's mark:
insipid badges; oft crude and stark.
When pain morphs into panic and fear:
Hope vanishes, replaced by a tear.
Memories store what feelings impart
deep within a troubled teenage heart.
A ramshackle look drains one of pride:
frightened inside, unable to hide.
Bodies of friends ingested by Night:
traced in chalk, by a city of light.
Surviving the streets, your dreams erode:
as nightmares travel that lonely road.
