Premium Member Woven Hearts

To forge a bond that truly thrives,
And build a bridge where friendship strives,
This poem, a simple guide,
May open doors where hearts reside.

Vulnerability
Lay bare your truth, let tears descend,
A hand outstretched, a trusted friend.
Imperfection, a tender grace,
Connects us all in this human space.

Empathy's Touch
Feel another's joy and pain,
A listening ear, a cleansing rain.
Understanding's gentle light,
Shines through the darkness of the night.

Acceptance Warm
Embrace the flaws we all possess,
For imperfections make us blessed.
Kindness blooms where judgment fades,
A garden nurtured, love pervades.

Communicate
Speak your heart, let feelings show.
Honest words, a bridge they build,
Where secrets hide, connections chilled.

Share Experiences
Through laughter's chime or sorrow's sting,
Together walk, a precious thing.
Shared moments, woven in time,
A tapestry is both strong and sublime.

So take these steps, with open hearts,
And watch connections truly start.
For vulnerability's gentle art,
It unlocks the beauty that plays its part.

Imperfectly Devoted

Each new day, my imperfections are on display,
I'm not perfect, but I'm here to stay,
I get jealous even after telling you that am cool with it,
I preach communication but l go silent when am in pain,
With depression overclouding me,
Loosing several days of memories with this heart that is ten times softer than yours,
I start endless fights with you because am not perfect,
I make mistakes, l make errors, l flop because am not perfect,
I got no smooth lines, no long texts to impress you with because am just not perfect,
I can be territorial, that’s true, even jealous I guess,
Bedtime anger, scars from the past, which some created fears that might never perish,
I will slide in your DM, seeking connection, annoying, and boring you because am not perfect,
I always leave space for the worst, expecting history to repeat itself because am just not flawless,
I will questions once, twice, thrice, even ten times because once is just not enough for an overthinker person like me,
Every tiniest change is big enough to make me feel less of a woman because l just need assurance,
As much as l expect the worst, l expect inner-felt love, instant replies, random texts, long hugs, cuddles, night walks, open love because a little distance makes me worry too much,
I would even be jealous of those who have been there before me, because am just being insecure,
l wanna see your mom, your sister, your friends even your Ex’s because am just too curious to think l fit in,
I cry at every tiniest argument we get into, l overthink, l become moody, l worry too much, l over-express myself, l do too much because am just not a perfect,
I can be irritating sometimes, squeezing myself in your arms, sitting on your laps, sleeping ontop of you because close is never close enough for an imperfect person like me,
Am so flawed, but I'll put in work for you.

My convictions refuse to give any of my poetry’s limelight to horoscopes or the like because these go against my belief in the Son of God, the Word of God and the grace of God. Because I don’t believe in horoscopes, and actually am against them as they are sinful and against God’s instructions, I won’t be using the title chosen by the contest sponsor. I do love Silent One though and will offer my poem as a reflection of that love, even if it is omitted from the contest because of the title. God bless you all.

“We are all petals of imperfection sharing the same sun” - Silent One

Tears fall quietly,
Remembering the heart’s seasons,
Glistening through the skies,
Like the richest purity,
Twilight bleeding into songs,
Meant to bless, the heal, to say…

Heaven is but moments away,
So we wait, on bended knee,
For the joy that we’ll soon see,
Joy beyond what we might dream,
Joy alive, like the sun’s glow,
Like the moon’s slow climb,
Like the moment He was mine….

Tears kiss my cheek,
Dewlike and refreshing, aching,
Expressions of faith, hope, love,
The silence of a clear, cool night,
Abiding in the soul who knows,
His love just grows – it grows and grows,
Serene and satisfying, spiritual sanctions,
Erasing the fears, the tears, the years…

Before I was sure that what I am feeling,
When He is with me, when He reveals Himself,
Through the bird’s morning songs,
Through the firefly’s dance in the dark,
Through the effortless music that invites…
Hearts to hear the trees as they talk,
Souls to feel the grace who speaks soft,
Spirits to taste the love that stirs hope…

Tears glisten on my heart, flowing,
As the winds pick up speed, rushing,
Toward the moment when I first believed,
He is the One who made light so I see…
He is the reason for my heart’s peace,
He is the reason for my soul’s devotion,
He is the reason for my spirit’s praise.

Tears never let go of the way they can say…
Though so imperfect, my love – I will pray…
Beyond my flaws and failures,
Beyond my many imperfections,
There is a story of God’s Son creating a hope,
Beyond what I might have expected,
A faith far greater than I’d ever predicted,
A love that is alive like the fire living inside…
Because He created my best life…
Because He became the sacrifice,
Because He surely is the bread of life!

White Is White

There can be only one color, white
Others would cause confusion
Light beams have certain properties
To move this process along
To burn the soul completely
To sterilize the imperfections
Being perfect has advantages too
Humans once were white
Extermination was inevitable
Androids found them to be not quite white enough
Termination was the obvious solution
Pure white machines walk the night with eighteen feet
Melt the imperfections with enlightenment
Nature must be reclaimed, returned
For no other reason than to keep the peace
There can only be white once and for all
Being white is the law
The law is right
Order is the only reason
White is white for a reason

Sardonic Edge

Sardonic Edge

When you have money people love you
Even strangers want to see you, save you
And help you through your days
Subtle imperfections cling on psyches cliff
This is not a trick…. This is not a glitch
If only you would look
Take the problem as you could
Less lightly…..You should simply not exist
Nudge a nerve to sign that will
And give us what is ours
As condemning fingers deflect
Point your way
Lingering thoughts stick to you
Like yesterday’s sweat
Friends and family pretend to love you
That keeps you safe
But not from insults and pretentious threats
Fear fills in every day behind your back
Fed by derision, suspicion and greed
Designed by those who hate you along the way
It's the new fashion that never fades or dries upon the line
The stake in the heart delayed for better weather
Prevailing winds designing the perfect crime
Strong wills wait for satiation, a little later, is a little better
So say those hiding under rocks
Friends and family pretend to know you
Pretend to care
The sardonic edge comes out
You’ve become the center of attraction and attention
Lost in your own anonymity
Why should you have a lotto ticket and not me?!
The whispers come to life
No one gave you permission to be alive
Leave that part to us
We have skills and ways to attend to you
In our own sardonic ways
It would be our pleasure to (end you….)…oops!.. I mean help you end your days in peace
That is, if that’s ok with you
Please remember to sign the deed
Then we’ll see what we can do

Premium Member What Is Love- Changes

Love changes in each and every season
In the beginning you'll feel butterflies
You crave them, without specific reason
In this phase you find comfort in their eyes

As time goes by, your love will be tested
You will notice imperfections and flaws
One questions if they should stay invested
And look for a get out of courtship clause

If you have managed to stay in spite of
you're in a lovely season, love took root
A strong, solid relationship will gov
Haters won't have the chance to pollute

Love is not just a feeling it's a decision
Once I got this, didn't have tunnel vision

Premium Member Summers Heat

We melt into the hotness of God's will.
Sun's solar power in all directions.
Nothing is moving. The oak trees are still.
Air is muggy per June's imperfections.

Blue green hummingbird seeks sweet summer snack.
Tiny frog heads toward cat's water bowl.
Thirsty wildlife hunts lake or stream, no slack.
Being hydrated the ultimate goal.

Grass died, now turning a furious brown.
Flowers have shriveled, crushed inward now too.
There is no moistness on flowers or ground.
Muggy in Kansas where people have flu.

Cardinals look for light places to bathe.
Farmer prays for crop, corn heads to the grave.

Premium Member Unloved Lovable Me

I wanted to love myself
But couldn't get past my reflection
or the recollection
of all my imperfections
It was so much easier
to turn my back on myself
and go in a different direction

So I poured out myself to others
by giving what little I had to them
I did it over and over again
Singing their hallelujahs and amens
Nothing was real
they weren't really my friends
It's tough to find my lovable
looking through my distorted lens

One day I looked inward
past the constructed facade
Found my true self
a lovable child of God
Now I'm fine with imperfect
It's okay to be flawed
It doesn't even matter
If others think I am odd
The ones who truly know me
celebrate and applaud

They don't expect me
to be a certain way
or within a box to lay
They see past my clinging to yesterday
and the silly pretend role I used to play
The past is the past
not a place I was meant to stay
Thank God He helped me
to throw my false self away!
Now with thankful heart
I've learned how to pray.

This transformation took place back in my early twenties. Thankfully it made life a whole lot more interesting.

I was inspired to write this after reading my friend Eileen Manassian's poem "I Resolve"
I therefore dedicate this piece to her.

Premium Member The Wedding

Even after the rice was thrown and the streets picked cleaned

A lonely squirrel searched for his share of the bounty

The widows had put their handkerchiefs in their purses

Tears of joy dried and our dance began

Holding you close and the band played our favorite song

Under the brilliant sun

Our lives begun

Those names always hurt you

Lived our perfect life in our perfect world and the dream

Your love grew and mine diminished

Those imperfections clouded with fear waited patiently

The skeletons in our closet opened for us to see

I did try to hold you close with nurture and warmth

Under the brilliant sun

Our lives begun

Those names will always hurt you

Our marriage ended with mistakes both made, and no one wanted change

We learned things ended because they were wearing out.

Our love grew thin from the washing and pounding on the rocks

We sewed and patched each garments and forgot that magnificent love

And accusations poked around each corner and grew frayed

Under the brilliant sun

Our lives had run

Did my best to desert you

The Paparazzi took pictures and were posted on the front page

Our vowels came apart and drifted on the ocean

And those waters were uncharted , and we shipwrecked

Natives parade our feelings on truncheons but still I lagged

Gave it one final effort and valiantly I yielded

Under the brilliant sun

Our lives had turned

New names that couldn't hurt you

P.S. I have work to do but this is a start

Premium Member Virgo

Virgo
 My birthday is in September.
Through astrology I am a Virgo.
 Through characteristics I am detailed.
I’ve been writing for five years.
 Always hard working.
 I’ve always loved drawing.
 I can’t stand clutter.
I will always enjoy lifting weights forever.
With structure, I am very organized.
Being observant I’m good at problem solving.
 In a relationship, always trustworthy.
 I’m always wide awake early.
The bottom line would be high expectations.
I have critical thoughts and imperfections.
I write this letter to you.
Maybe I will find someone beautiful soon.
 What are your favorite hobbies?
 Maybe you also love writing?
 I am grounded with discipline.
It’s been hard work and no play or fun.
You have my undivided attention through possibilities.
 A committed partner and understanding.
I would be reliable and attentive.
Together we both have something to believe in.
 I wanted to be honest.
I know that I have no patience.
One day I just might find someone.
With your smile, you might be the one.
 What if dreams come true?
The signs in the sky, it might be you
