to be or not to be are you up to the task?
to do whatever it is that of you God does ask?
Esther was chosen to be an instrument for the Lord
she was highly favored and in a place to put all in accord
Esther was prepared by her Uncle to live a life of humility
and despite being a Persian queen only he knew of her Jewish heredity
until a situation arose that put her people in jeopardy
her Uncle Mordecai then told her of her God-given destiny
to be or not to be to, to go out and take a stand?
to be obedient to the spirit and do what the Lord God commands
things occur in our lives over which we have have no control
but if you're obedient to the Lord God, He wil define for you your role
just trust in the Lord God to know for you what is best
and believe by Him you've been positoned and equipped to pass the test
we're children of the Most High God who is the King of Kings
so act like you're royalty and carry yourself like a queen
to be or not to be for such a time as this?
destined for greatness an opportunity not to be missed
Every day is a struggle
Not to cry
To fall to our knees
And ask God why.
The economy is a nightmare
Chasing away our dreams
Leaving us hungry
Crying out for a means.
Jobs have been cut
Dwindling money so tight
The war is on
To keep our hope in sight.
Food to clothes
And simple school supplies
Every where you look
The money cries.
The once simple things
Now have a luxurious price
The list of necessities
Must face a slice.
Staycations are in
Vacations are out
Even retirement
Travels a different route.
The economy has sunk
Like a wounded ship
As the color of green
Loses its grip.
Everyday is a struggle
Just to survive
The American dream
We labor to revive.
NOTE: As a divorced mother of three children, having my hours cut over 3/4 has taken its
toll on me. Looking for employment has been not only depressing but frustrating as well.
I wrote this poem to try and "heal" my pain and struggles. I know that I am not the only
one that lays awake at night wondering how to pay the bills or feed my children; but still
the pain eats away at me, the frustrations build like a volcano, and the humiliation
strips me of my pride. I find myself questioning my dreams and goals; my skills as a
parent; my faith in the American Dream! Some of you will say that I have become
depressed--and my guess is you would be right. I hate myself for lying in bed feeling
sorry for myself and crying all the time--that is why I wrote this poem...it is my
cure..my medication...my doctor. Through this poem I hope to pull myself up and out of
this hole of sadness I have climbed into and hold my head high as I wait for things to get
better...as I wait for that one miracle to light my way. Hey...that gives me an idea for
another poem..gotta go write...I love you all. Thank you for reading my poetry, for your
kind and compassionate comments and may God Bless each and every one of you and keep you
safe and happy during these difficult times! All My Love, Deborah
I remember her laugh like it was yesterday
It replaced the words we just couldn’t say.
As the merry-go-round turned peacefully slow
We tried to forget that soon she would go.
We watched the clouds drift slowly by
And tried to fight back the tears in our eye.
The early evening was quiet and calm
As the three of us together recited the twenty thirds psalm.
Our voices broke at the end of the verse
As an angel went by in a pure white hearse.
The old merry-go-round continued to turn
But it was only that moment we wanted to burn.
Lying on our backs starring at the sky
We were too afraid to ask God why.
As the evening shadows continued to grow
A gentle breeze began to blow.
That’s the last memory I have of our friend
Soon after God gave her wings to ascend.
She’s been an angel for many years,
She gives me the strength to face my fears.
She watches over me by night and by day
She is the warm light that guides my way.
As long as I remember her laughter and her smile
She’ll always be with me each step of every mile.
as a young boy my mother gave my brother and I money to go out and have a day of fun
so on the subway to 42nd street we went on our own now free to run
but before we got to the movie theater we saw a guy at a small table shuffling cards
I played a free hand and won and thought to myself, "hey that wasn't so hard"
on the next shuffle I put our money down
but then the guy snatched it and started to rush away
he said "get out of here kids the cops are coming"
and we didn't get to see any movies that day
I still think about that $8 I lost, it was a life lesson I still hold in my heart
as you don't know how life may sometimes be stacked against you,
you don't always know the odds
Gideon was called into battle by the Lord and the odds were about 10,000 to one
but the Lord God told Gideon, "I will be with you" until the battle is won
God is watching the things we do be they big or small
He's aware of everyone's capabilities and He knows on whom to call
God desires we have no fear and to believe that He'll always have our backs
and no matter the odds stacked against us, He'll be there in the midst of the attack
God will restore thee if you implore He, God will even the playing field
just remember to thank Him and give Him all the glory when the enemy to you yields
It doesn't matter how many people are trying to hinder you or stand in your way
God will even the odds and give you the victory on any given day
it was one score and one year ago that the Berean congregation did pray
that The Lord God would send a good undershepard their way
lo and behold their prayers were answered and a gift to them was given
an anointed man of God whose name is the Rev. Dr. Arlee Griffin
one score and one year ago he settled into his ministry
and it's been a perfect fit, a glorious matrimony
he is passionate in his praise and dynamic as a preacher
sagacious in spreading the Gospel and distinguished as a teacher
the wisdom of God is what he imparts
and it's no surprise we hold him in our hearts
one score and one year has now come to pass
and we pray that this partnership will forever last
congratulations on this anniversary Pastor it's your twenty-first one
and for you we give thanks to the Father, the Holy Spirit and the Son
A Warrior for Christ
In deep thoughts of unity.
It’s always a world, for someone else to please.
Along with pleasure there is always hard earned pain.
Sometimes death for someone else’s easy gain.
Look what we have, by the winners they lose.
They only win, upon the kill they choose.
So what we have since the beginning of time, my friends.
That Evil only wins, is when God is in not in, our presence,
I still hold my mighty shield, I always carry my great sword.
I never take off my armor, I live by the book of the lord.
A warrior for Christ I am, the devils works shall pay.
Am a warrior for my Lord, I serve God then do what he says.
To much going wrong, why do I only see what is right.
I will keep fighting for every soul that needs a Life.
Someday this will be over, that is what I always hear.
Then I realized, that was the Devil talking in my ears.

on Sunday June 6th we concluded the celebration
and Pastor Griffin himself gave the Proclaimation

we love you, we thank you, we appreciate you both for being faithful servant of Christ
Let me tell you that God really loves you and He’s right there with you too.
And all these mottos you can find them in the Bible if you don’t really believe me.
God loves us so much that He sent Jesus down to earth to die for me and you.
Jesus is God in the flesh and suffered and died upon a tree for your sins and mine too.
God is so awesome and He’s perfect and filled of love goodness and compassion.
And He just wants the very best for you and me everyday and eternally too.
He rains all His goodness and blessings when you seek Him with all your heart.
He cares for everybody more than you can ever imagine and that it’s for sure so true.
Reaching for all your dreams is really quite magnificent and nice.
Reaching for all the stars above is really quite wonderful too.
But … wow! reaching for God first is the most important and smartest thing to do.
Because when you seek God with all your heart~ He’ll bless and give you everything
according to His Glorious plan and that’s true too.
Trust in Jesus all the way,BELIEVE and He’ll make all the things that you face everyday much
easier for you to endure too.
Love Him, Obey Him, let Him be your Lord and Savior and He’ll be with you forever and ever
and that’s totally true too, you see!
Wow!Our Father God is an awesome God,indeed,He is!

Since Adam and Eve,
Tracks, man has put down.
While some we leave are happy,
Others, give occasion to frown.
Tracks, that we as men,
Might some time wish to erase.
But only God can remove,
Man can only retrace.
Those footprints of our lives,
Eventually In history you'll find.
Whether satisfactory or atrocious,
They're what we'll leave behind.
As these tracks God surveys,
He'll sway not, nor will He bend.
But render appropriate judgment,
On where eternity we'll spend.
God, is a discerner of tracks,
So from life's trail we can't hide.
But through Grace He made a way,
That in His tracks we can abide.
her name is not even mentioned in the Holy Scriptures
but the widowed woman who gave two mites left a lasting picture
when no one mentions their name most people get put out
but who cares about a name as long as God's business you're about?
as quick as she was mentioned in the text she was gone
but she left us a legacy on which to build on
it's not about you giving in a big flashy way
it's not about giving grudgingly and then proudly walking away
it's not about the Pastor calling out the amount of money you've given
it's about giving from the heart and how in Christ you're living
Jesus pointed out this woman's deed as something we all should discern
to give freely and sacrificially is what He wanted His Disciples to learn
to give your last two cents, what would it mean to you?
she gave her last two cents, would you give yours freely too?
in the Biblical days there was no such thing as Social Security
most widowed women lived in abject poverty
but she gave all she had, she did what she could
she gave from the heart and Jesus saw that as good
but what if it were you in the same position
what would you do? what would be your decision?
your last two cents coming from your heart
your last two cents priceless in the eyes of God
to give from the inside in tune with your spiritual self
as giving from the heart is not measured by one's wealth
as those who give thousands they tend to do it just for show
but to give your two cents worth is how you spiritually grow
so what motivates you when it comes to the Lord Christ?
what is the underlying provocation that rules your life?
the amount of money that you give is what mankind uses to measure
but the motivation for giving is the thing that God treasures
God can't use what you give if it's not freely given
it matters not the amount it's about how you're living
we want God to bless us but to Him we rob and short-change
He only asks for ten percent and even that we can't seem to maintain
we wonder why what we pray on doesn't seem to manifest
yet we aren't willing to put our two cents worth to the test
'
the blessings of the Lord add wealth without troubles
the blessings of the Lord only by Him can be doubled
your two cents worth would you give it to God?
your two cents worth make sure its coming from the heart
