Just stopping by to say Hey,
to all my pals at The NSA.
Did you enjoy your day watching me,
from my flat screen TV,
or from my laptop that I use frequently,
or from,.. hmmm, let's see,
Well, from any of those other devices that give you that ability?
To all of my pals and gals at the NSA.
I am very sorry if I wasted the bulk of your day,
having to watch me jam my air guitar all day long,
to my favorite Joe Walsh and other solo guitar songs.
One of my favorite Joe Walsh Songs to jam my air guitar to,
but its title regarding me couldn't be further from the truth.

My Friend
Sometimes I am my only friend.
Sometimes only Jesus is my friend.
But some friends that I've had are gone.
Some are dead, some just said so long.
You see lately, I feel very much alone.
And sadly, it causes my heart to turn to stone.
The only friend that I do want, no longer wants me.
The love got lost for she just will not see.
Um, ooops, I was in a very bad way this day evidently. Because I just finished this poem with a vulgar rant of how I was feeling at that time. Hmmm, not the best way to wrap up this exercise huh? :) lol Oh well, life goes on and I've made some new friends since then and the sun came out the next day or whenever. It may have been cloudy that next day, call your local meteorologist if you want to know for sure. :) I hope your sun is shining where ever you are today. Love Leslie. <3 :)
Note: Day 7 of writing exercise.
Maria hums to the tune of “Taps” as she scoops out the betta
One red, one blue, Wiggles got ick, now it’s just Padma blue
Doorbell rings, ding dong, Maria rushes to answer, Ahh, Greek feta
The delivery guy left as the maid pounded on the screen, birds flew
This is cheddar, Miss Sparks will be upset, hmmm. It’s okay!
Swooshing sounds from the toilet bowl, as Maria flushes
Tosses the salad, grabs her clanking keys, and drives away
Down the hill, exhales haa, then inhales huh, blood rushes
Nick The Greek’s, an order of the Greek feta salad, to go please
Exits Nicks, enters Finney’s Fish Store. I’ll take that one, that fish
As she points to the red betta splashing, wiggling, stops, in a freeze
Dear Maria, I’m home, bring my salad and a glass of iced tea swish
So, tell me, how was your day, clops off her shoes by her chair
Leaning, back crackling, with Wiggles her red betta nearby
Miss Sparks waits for her maid, then notices Padma’s stare
Maria, why is Padma staring at Wiggles with a glint in her eye?
That first cup of coffee in the morning
I describe it as KICKAPOO JOY JUICE
The day doesn't begin until that first sip
When angels start singing and the sun starts to shine
You realize the world is a beautiful place
You feel like skipping through fields of clover
Singing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah and throwing out daisies
At times I'm overwhelmed by the amazing response
When total strangers stop me, embrace me
And plant huge smackers on my waiting lips
I'd prefer members of the opposite sex
But in a pinch... hmmm!
Yup! KICKAPOO JOY JUICE each morning
Starts my old engine a-humming
Must be careful though, two is my maximum
After that I'm no longer responsible for my actions
There have been times when a third cup of the stuff
Has caused me to touch total strangers
In very inappropriate places
When my advances are happily returned
It usually means they've been into the juice as well
Must leave you now... making my fifth cup
There's no stopping me now!!!!!

It's in my heart and always on my mind.
I can't lie; I think of it all the time.
At early dawn and late in the midnight hour.
I can see it, I can feel it, and I often dream about its beautiful power.
Some say I'm crazy...
Hmmm? Maybe they're just lazy.
Others ask, "Is it worth it?"
Well, naysayers are going to 'nay,' so
I'll keep pushing and pulling it.
I'm tending the bars; that's right, I'm bartending.
I'm pushing and pulling, and I'm not pretending.
Yes!
Pushing and pulling for my health,
Fighting and grinding for invaluable wealth.
Living sprightly on the bars, pushing up off Mother Earth,
The pump in my chest, the shakiness in my legs, and the sweat on my brow show their worth.
Getting over the rope and making quick bursts across the land,
This beautiful obsession just continues to grow, and most will never understand.
It doesn't feel good, sound good, or look good when I'm going through it.
But there is a beautiful pain that hurts so good, just knowing I'm staying fit.
With each rising sun and every shining moon,
My obsession remains, and it's going nowhere soon.
The sign on the cage read "CAUTION"
I thought, "hmmm..
"wonder who that belongs too?"
The receptionist seemed a bit cool
almost standoffish.
I paid the bill and asked
"so where's my kitty?"
She pointed at the caution cage
and said in a growly tone
"OVER THERE."
"The doctor says he'd appreciate it
if you didn't bring "tiger" in again."
It was "tiger's" first (and last) visit.
He was a little ball of orange fur
with A T T I T U D E....
He aged like a jalapeno pepper
growing hot with a little bite.
As my kitty grew
so did the size of the cage
and the size of the CAUTION sign.
He had a few "good" days.
One in 1998, the other in 2005.
I believe he was the reincarnation
of a serial killer.
If there's a heaven for cats
he's probably the bouncer.

One:
Wake up slowly.
Admit it was never that deep.
Let your first word be hmmm.
Let your second be whatever.
Two:
Stretch, but not like you mean it.
Pop one joint, then stop.
You are not an overachiever.
You’re alive. That’s enough.
Three:
Brew something hot
and unnecessarily complicated.
Call it process.
Sip. Sigh.
Spill a little on purpose.
Four:
Reintroduce yourself
to color.
Start with gray.
Work up to a muted mustard.
No pressure.
Five:
Trust nothing that smiles too easily.
Except maybe dogs.
And one cashier
who says you’re all set
like she means it.
Six:
Throw out the list you made
of everyone who owes you.
Keep the one you made
of whom you survived—
remember who survived you.
Seven:
Don’t look for closure.
Just check your teeth for spinach
when you think you ate,
and get on with it.
Could my sudden bought of acid reflux
Be the cause of doubt in so called love
Hmmm I asked the monk if I am distracted
From finding enlightenment she reacted
Seems we all have karma in life
We can’t escape it but we can try
What if I was this really blind soul
In a future past life
What should I do now
The moon is full of my strawberry questions
I suppose I am a bit self centered
In reflection how can I grow if I am not
If I am lacking how then can I be taught
I read and sometimes words are a kite
That float away from me on nights sky
The stars seem to sing dance and wink
While I stare and try to write pearly poetry
My guess is that maybe I’m here right now
To find a way to be lost in the spiritual realm
To be more than I understand
To be a blessing to others a helping hand
In twenty three, we waved goodbye to much celebrity
But in the clouds the welcome party takes them three by three
Tina Turner, Jerry Springer, Mister Donald Trump
(Of which, one is poetic license; please don’t get the hump)
Before the Lord, upon their knees, they had to state their case
And detail what they did to benefit the human race
The Lord had seats, one on each side, to help him rule the sky
And now he sought two occupants to give consul on high
The Lord looked at the first arrival, she looked rather proud
And rumour had it that she’d always been a little loud
The Lord said, Woman, tell me why these seats on either side
Here on my left or on my right should be where you reside
Tina Turner said, Dear Lord, I used to dance and sing
Your angels will all know the joy and love that that can bring
I had some upset in my life but fought with all my might
So I’d be honoured to sit with you as a guiding light
The Lord said I admire those with strength to fight the fight
And so you may sit in the seat positioned on my right
The Lord turned his attention to arrival number two
Okay, Mr Talk-a-lot, so, why should I pick you?
Jerry Springer said, My Lord, I find this slightly odd
I doubted in my wildest dreams I’d face questions from God
Yet, here I am enduring this admission interview
But from that seat upon your left, I could interview you
The Lord said, Hmmm, I guess you would be upset and bereft
If I didn’t offer you this seat upon my left
But there is still one candidate for consul in the sky
So let me hear the testimony of this other guy…
Trump said, ‘Look, it’s great, so great, it’s really really great,
I kinda thought I wouldn’t be here till a later date
But since that pawn star mowed me down as I walked in the street
At least I get the chance to tell you…
That you’re in my seat!
