Daily Prayer 10-17-2020

By Dana Redricks

Dear Heavenly Father, when I think about how things were in the beginning before sin entered the world I realize how destructive sin is, and how sin separates us from you. You are a Holy God who cannot be in the presence of sin for You are a consuming fire, and we wouldn't be able to be in Your presence in our sinful state and live. I thank you for sending Jesus Christ into the world to redeem us from our sins, and become a living sacrifice to restore the relationship humanity had lost with you through Adam and Eve. Lord you have something for us and you want us to be where you are in your Holy presence. When I remember the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis, I realize how You have so much more for me than I could ever dream. I could never begin to phantom what heaven will be like. In the end we will have a new heaven and a new earth. Until then help me to stay focused on You and seek out those to share the Good News of the Gospel, and the love you have for us. Lord let Your Holy Spirit speak through me giving me the right words to say to everyone I encounter, help me to be a light representing Your kingdom, Lord let me not be a stumbling block to others but help me to reach out to other people who are hurting and in need of a Savior. Lord, I pray for those who are in need that You will meet those needs. Lord whenever I'm feeling doubtful, confused, or, lonely, and unjustly treated to always remember that You are always there for me. You are a faithful, loving God. You are my defender, You are my deliverer, and my all and all. I pray that I will always allow You to do Your work and that I will not interfere with Your good plans for me. Thank You my loving Heavenly Father. In Jesus' name I pray, amen (so be it) shalom.

At six foot four, and an eighth of a ton,
A gentle giant of a man, he was;
Father to three, and himself a fine son,
Devoted husband to Jean, without pause.

Phone man, painter, in ocean liners he cruised,
Accompanied by family and friends;
Sweet song in his heart, but never the blues,
Wisdom and patience, in life his clear lens.

He loved a recipe, and showing concern,
With actions, like always asking about you;
His life well balanced, his legacy earned,
Sharing his Jesus—the Gospel's Good News!

Taking time for grandkids, he humbly shared,
Both time and his money, an open book;
Bouncing upon knees, for great grands he cared,
Teaching scriptures, over breakfast he’d cooked.

Eighty-two years was his Lord’s master plan,
Fifty-eight to a soulmate, solemnly wed;
What mattered most, to this giver of men,
Was baking and breaking, life’s finest bread.

A Soldier whose honor, served us all well,
Humbly he loved, these United States;
His strong Christian faith, now clear as a bell,
His given name, you ask? Twas—Walter Yates!

(Rest in Peace Dear Friend. We miss you, sir!)

The Streets Are Getting Darker

shootings are on the up rise
and multiple killings are the latest fad
the streets are getting darker
and the world has gone completely mad
total anarchy, assassinations, murder and mayhem
the streets are getting darker
but when will it all end?

***********, immorality, pedophilia and illegal drugs
the streets are getting darker and creeping with rapists, gang bangers and thugs
homelessness, hunger, unemployment plus an incurable disease
diminishing natural resources, global warming
while the political leaders do as they please
genocide, homicide, domestic abuse and sexual predators on the Internet
hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires yet mankind keeps hedging its bet
but there is still a glimmer of hope, a slice of salvation
for the light of the Lord continues to shine down upon the world's desolation
yet when people ask,"why does God allow bad things
to happen to those who are good?"
I can only reply, "that Godliness is not on the mind of the thugs and the hoods"
for God gave mankind free will and dominion over this earth
so if men want to blame anyone they need to look at themselves first

Jesus Christ, The Son of Man is our Savior, our Truth and our Light
His coming was to give us reconciliation and instructions on how to live right
yet the streets are still getting darker and thus they will continue to remain
until everyone seeks the Good News and try to bring about some change
to love each other as God desires, to show compassion and care
to look up to our Creator and realize that He's always been there

the streets are getting darker with chaos and confusion
but the Light of the Lord God remains the only viable solution
so until mankind comes to some kind of moral and spiritual understanding
the streets will get darker until we abide by what the Lord God is commanding

Beyond this ladybird loveliness received

Inspired by the ladybugs.

On Friday evening, the ladybugs came en masse to visit me. “Ladybug Loveliness” is the collective term.

Beyond this ladybug loveliness received
By Michelle Morris

The ladybugs came to me
In the silence of the twilight
As the sun was setting
They beckoned the moon to shine

To shine as a reminder for my soul
To keep shining and help the world
That lighthouse effect that I bring
Creates safety for every human being

The ladybugs, they brought abundance
In that gloaming before the dark
To remind me that it's always there
That power in my soul's spark

The infinity of all that is good
Within the atoms and the sparkles
Starlight and stardust within us
Starlight and stardust in the galaxies and marvels

The ladybugs, the bearers of good news
Named for the Virgin Mary's blessings
A symbol for flock and farmers
A reality of gifts from nature's essence

The ladybugs came to me
Yes, they came to me
I am honoured and blessed
Beyond this ladybug loveliness received

Symbolism:
Christian Symbolism: Some believe that the red color of ladybugs symbolizes the blood of Christ, and the black spots represent his wounds. Thus, the name "ladybug" would be a way to honor the Virgin Mary.

Agricultural Symbolism: Another theory suggests that the name "ladybug" originated from farmers' observations that these insects could help protect their crops from aphids. As they were associated with the Virgin Mary, who was seen as the protector of farmers, they were given the name "ladybugs."

Superstition: In some cultures, ladybugs are considered to be lucky or protective charms. This may have led to the name "ladybug" becoming associated with these insects.

Premium Member Rachel Cried Out

“A voice was heard in Ramah,
weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children;
and she refused to be consoled,
because they are no more.”

Hope was born before the massacre;
Jesus Christ was swaddled in a manger.

Why Rachel? She died in childbirth.
She cried out in her sadness.

Rachel cried out, “Ben Oni,”
son of my mourning.

Jacob renamed him, Benjamin.
Rachel cried out.

Massacre of the innocents,
those sweet boys delivered

out of Bethlehem’s reach
and into Abraham’s bosom.

Into Egypt, Mary and Joseph
and their bundle of good news and great joy,

until God called them out of Egypt.
“Prepare the way for the Lord,”

spoken before John the Baptist
was beheaded because of a lustful dance.

Sufferings abound amidst the healings.
There are tares amidst the wheat.

Snatch them out, you would think,
but for now they’re a necessary favor.

God’s mercy and grace
draws all men to Himself.

“For God so loved the world
in this way: He gave his one
and only Son, so that everyone
who believes in him
will not perish but have
eternal life.”

“In Him was life, and that life was
the light of men. That light shines
in the darkness, and yet
the darkness did not overcome it.”

Mary would also feel the nails
that pierced her son’s wrists and ankles.

She would suffer the death of her savior.
Christ’s suffering and death, both necessary.

We want only to jump for joy, see the healings,
enjoy the teachings and celebration.

But, God knew what we needed to last.
Even now, his hand holds back

the Day of the Lord, when his mercy
runs out and great wrath comes

for those who bray in wicked deeds,
whose hearts have turned from their Creator.

A star in the heavens shines.
The heavenly host breaks out in song.

It’s the day they’ve been waiting for.
Shepherds and wise men make their way

to Him.
Make your way to Him.

Premium Member How Easily Man Judges

When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?”

But Jesus turned and rebuked them.

Luke 9:54-55

How easily man judges,
hates, throws down the gauntlet.
Oh can’t you see - God is the merciful one.
We hang ‘em high and hang ‘em low
(Better than them, am I)
We love to be one of the mob,
pointing, mocking, laughing.

Are we teachable?
The lord stopped James and John in their tracks.

(Oh I wish he’d be condemned,
send fire down on his head.)

Oh sure…we are the truth tellers,
we imagine ourselves to be god.

We want, him or her, destroyed?
But ahem…God could destroy anyone,
anytime. His purposes are greater than ours.

I’m grateful for that. You should be too.
Oh can’t you see - God is the merciful one.

I don’t want to see what’s in your nose.
Bring it level. If God judged you today
without His help, guess where you’d be?

He says wild things like:
Love your enemies!

The good news trumps your newspaper
and news on t.v.

If your nose tilts, let your eyes see God’s
peace, mercy and grace

…a revolution of love

Christ Is Life

The cross is a symbol of your love and it burns like a flame burning away our pain and shame your word is igniting a new flame, you're always on the rise and taking us to higher heights, shining bright like the stars in the sky your word is full of truth and there is nothing that we can't do, our hearts are filled with you and the good news, your presence feels so sweet when we encounter you we feel at peace, we're only living for you and you can provide us with a clear view our dreams are coming true, your always supporting us like real friends do, we are complete in you nothing can ever change that, You're the vine that provides us with all that we need, we are connected like the branches on a tree no matter where we are you will be right there to catch us when we fall

Take our old lives and ignite your life
In Jesus we have eternal life

We have the Holy Spirit burning within our chest, changing lives and igniting us with your life today's the day we come alive our hearts burn with passion on the inside, your love can not be contained we want to embrace in your presence and see your face lit up like the sun there's nowhere to run, no need to hide we're filled with your power on the inside, and nothing can knock us down spread your kingdom like wildfire for everyone to see and clean out our hearts with a clean sweep work through us to help those in need and bring peace so they can live worry free, you will always be right by our side like a coach from the sideline, building us up not tearing us down and encouraging us to lift our heads up off the ground, we have the victory there's no contradicting that like the fact that the sun causes nature to react

Take our old lives and ignite your life
In Jesus we have eternal life

Our hearts overflow
Of living water fill us up,
Fill us up, fill us up (repeat)

Take our old lives and ignite your life
In Jesus we have eternal life

Premium Member I Have Good News, Mom

With all the bad- I got good news,
for five months I have had the blues;
all my thoughts tangled up with muse,
to despair I said-  I refuse;
just worked on hobbies to amuse.

My mind went to awful places,
I prayed to God for his grace's;
friends gave me blooms and embraces,
I wept at roses in vases.

Waiting was endless and scary,
I became quite solitary;
my home a safe sanctuary.

I did a lot of soul searching;
there was a lot of soul aching.

then the phone call came - no cancer

I am thinking about tattoos,
of butterfly wings and faces;
visited the cemetery,
told my mom the good news shaking;
whispering-   mom, got the answer.

Eden became a place of trespassing and disobedience
Love, however, never departed the Garden of Eden
I, The Everlasting God, have always had a plan

Eden became a place of trespassing and disobedience
Love, however, never departed the Garden of Eden
I, The Everlasting God, have always had a plan

Let all the world know that I love them
Everyone who believes shall be saved

My love is everlasting and measureless
All people are precious in my sight

Salvation was purchased by Christ's blood
Absolutely no one who truly believes is rejected

Believers have peace with God through Christ
At the cross is the place of the great triumph
Christ alone takes away the sins of the world
Hell itself was defeated by Christ on the cross

Tell the 'Good News' to everyone, everywhere
Heaven is a real place; not a dream or fairy tale
Access to God is obtained through Christ alone

Nothing shall separate us from the love of God
I will never leave you, nor ever forsake you
