A sudden frightening change swept through
my mind the moment I saw you
sunny mood turned overcast
unpleasant, foul gust from the past
surge of heat in atmosphere
squall of shame, confusion, fear
disturbing equilibrium
wishing I had never come
Dark clouds building in my brain
bursting, blowing heavy rain
of thoughts, emotion, memory
flooding, flowing out to sea
then violent waves come rushing back
as all inside my mind goes black
tossed within this tempest swell
I've lost all time and cannot tell
a moment from an hour- or day
insanity on full display
As hurricane roars through my head
with terrifying endless dread
I clench the driftwood of my faith
and pray that I will come out safe
eventually, the storm dies out
and I am able to look about
and see the world unscathed by storm
that wrecked my brain, twisted, transformed
and left me shaken, scarred and scared
to know you never even cared
Unmet expectations damage the dormant psyche,
unkept promises smother the rays of fading hope,
unkind words tear the lattice of the mangled mind.
My life turns into an urn filled with your ill feeling.
Your senses become the fast spreading wild fire,
uncontrolled, it boils the blood of intrinsic pride,
and as it flares up, it burns my gentle demeanor,
its viciousness blazes the bonhomie of bonding chords.
As the bitterness smoke billows thick and intense,
upset conscience loses the equilibrium and crashes.
Vile breath is charged with the acrimonious ashes,
while the patient facade of restraint you deface.
Your flashing eyes reveal you seethe inside,
generating an inferno of malice in your heart .
The twisted tongue spills out words so brutal,
smeared with the toxin of your malicious mind.
The scruple of sane sagacity turns into ember,
erupting out of your fuming volcanic conscience,
flows in the spreading smoke of stifling spite,
consuming the remains of reason you lose outright.
With the arcane acumen of a trickster devil,
as sordid silhouette of menace you crawl stealthily
into the quintessence of my being to suck
the ambrosia of my soul, the casualty of your cruelty.
Oh, how we watch a town go by!
Pieces of life
wrapped against the elements,
going somewhere,
always going somewhere.
From this upper window,
my eye is a searchlight,
sweeping the streetscape.
I celebrate my stillness
by remaining still,
stiller,
and stiller still,
holding my breath,
stilling my eyes till they sting.
I will my stillness
to fill me, envelop me,
hold me still from within and without,
a force pushing out and in,
creating an equilibrium for my soul.
And still the life below
scurries, scampers,
scuttles, skitters,
fizzes, bubbles, lives,
the quick and undead,
each destined
to be still one day.
(September 2021)
Beset with trials, challenging faith’s might
heart faces quandary toward peace-flight
while being checked of disposition poise
falling out against equilibrium height.
Reaching forth welcoming steadfastness’ quay
I quiver; thus, from sailing angst I pray
bouncing back, moving on from failure pain
clinging to my Anchor along the way.
With revival perfume of sweetness scent
my grateful spirit, propped from being bent
confesses midst humbling earnest penance
purging selfishness for service ascent.
Smiting false humility --- oh, quaint pride
that’s vain boasting my soul does try to hide
I yield fantasized platinum awards
striving to please God; in His love abide*.
*John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

i'd always been taught that everything happens for the best,
that it's all meant to be, that everything i see, hear about,
feel, and what-have-you comes from One Source, and that
'it's all good,' as they say these days, but when it came to
my divorce, i was unable to reconcile all these 'truths' with
what i perceived as reality, so i became bitter, full of bile,
while every little thing upset me -- my equilibrium was
nowhere to be found -- if that makes any sense, until the
day that i found myself raising my hand high over my head
to strike one of my children, just like my father used to do
and i had vowed never to do, and that's when i knew
there is a reason
to everything in this world

What is it about you that makes me
Want to jump out of my skin and fly
Like an eagle in the wind, wings
Outstretched wide as if I
Could do anything because you’ve
Touched me deep inside?
What magic potion do you possess
Causing such commotion so
Deep within my veins
That all of my emotions
Seek equilibrium from the notion
You’re a dancing angel in the rain?
For long have I been standing
In this shadow dark and wide
Waiting for the light of day and you
To catch my eyes. In this golden moment
Before the sun is gone again, I’m higher than
Eagles soaring beyond the blue, all
Because of you my dearest friend.
All we need to know
The present moment’s passing does not cease.
Stay in it.
Pause, learn and cherish inner peace.
Nourish mind and body for good health.
Fight entropy.
Plan, discipline habits and know your inner wealth.
Keep work, rest and play in equilibrium,
Adapt to change.
Balance out steady themes in life’s idiom.
Cherish small joys, beauty and simplicity.
Share contentment.
Keep friends to enrich life’s felicity.
Embrace challenge as a chance to grow and inspire.
Delight in purpose.
Hold direction to tend your soul's fire.
Practice humility and forgiveness.
Drop the grudges.
Compassionate acts give and receive gladness.
Align your values, principles and actions.
Plant only harmony.
Integrity, trust and respect unite the world’s factions.
An inner earthquake rattles him again
as the fiery sun dips in the horizon
Can he too, hide his halo as such?
Closing his eyes as he folds in his wings,
wishing he could take it off
He trembles...must he embrace darkness to know of love?
Sun breaks over the mountain range,
her obsidian skin absorbing the light.
If her body is like a canvas of night,
could she reach within herself,
beyond the horns and hooves
and find her own hidden sunrise, deep inside?
The darkness is more reassuring
than he could have ever imagined-
something to truly weigh his goodness against,
in a finely-tuned balancing act.
And as the stars can help guide a lost soul,
he too possesses a true north within.
Oddly enough, she welcomes the radiance,
such a stark contrast to what she has been used to-
rays drip into her like ink diffuses in water,
a momentary burst of chaotic brilliance,
followed by an even stillness.
She cannot escape it, becoming a part of her.
The rooster crows for the third time,
so he opens his eyes to this daybreak,
emerald mountains shimmering in the morning light.
Through abysmal depths, he arises and now realizes
Darkness comes as the light falls, it is inevitable...
yet Light also takes over that darkness.
With the thickening dusk,
clouds turn into amethyst ribbons.
The day's warmth thawed a part of her
that was kept frozen and dead for eons.
Now, she would do everything in her power
to keep it pulsing--to keep it alive.

Upon watching them, sheer fascination takes over....
Even though these two are on different paths,
they had both achieved a similar transformation,
as if neither was an agent for one side, or the other.
Not any longer.
And how their auras shone
....in perfect equilibrium.

Opposites: angel/daemon; sunrise/sunset :)
In a world of racket, where images contradict and fight,
Lack of equilibrium shouts loud, a harsh, relentless night.
Its banners spiral in fury, a story quickly unfolds,
Of bitterness, loss, and broken dreams, a world grown hard and cold.
Yet listen close, beneath the din, a quieter, constant strain,
A temperate, steady whisper, amidst the resentful rain.
For peace does not demand the stage, nor holler to be believed,
It blooms within a quiet heart, where all the pain is received.
It is the calm when storms diminish, the breath we draw so deep,
The silent power in letting go, the promises we keep.
No battle won with sword or shield, no victory claimed in haste,
But presence in the present moment, a world we softly taste.
One truth rings clear, a vibrant light, while the other fades in time,
That truce, in all its tender grace, is the proper paradigm.
It mends the soul, it builds the bridge, a hope that will never cease,
The silent, beautiful, constant gift: the everlasting peace.
Perceptions, like tender sun rays, swiftly peep in,
With inference as sharp as the prick of a pin;
Comparison, like a physical balance, weighs,
With the sound of assertion, awareness does blaze...!
Like a light that illumines the properties, dense,
Permeates the cognitive conscious common sense;
Steering the mind, senses, breath, and each emotion,
Physique-psyche oneness becomes the life notion...!
As the consciousness, that springs from unconsciousness,
Undergoes the process of pre-consciousness;
Awareness from self turns to the universal,
As leaves of fall form communion at dispersal...!
Openness leads to awareness, the Bible says,
Awareness leads thoughts, words, and deeds in divine ways;
Knowledge of self directs to the knowledge of God,
Halal that's done in awareness, Islam does laud...!
Conscious stillness in silent equilibrium,
Sweeps away, from within, mental delirium;
Harmlessness to self and other creatures creeps in,
When conscious awareness, in rhythm, minds entwine...!
