Notes About The Poem

The Physics of Human Nature

A rolling stone keeps rolling on its way.
Till outside forces change its course and sway.
A settled mind keeps travelling where it's been,
Till wonder parts the paths it walks between.

Left to themselves, all ordered things decay.
Only endless work keeps disorder at bay.
Left to ourselves, trust quietly grows thin.
Love and hope need tending lest doubts settle in.

No energy is lost within the cosmic whole.
It changes form, yet keeps its hidden role.
No grief or happiness is wasted in the heart;
It changes shape, and wisdom plays its part.

Each force applied invites an equal one returned.
The universe remembers every force once stirred.
Each word we speak finds a home in the unseen.
Its echo lingers, long after the voice has been.

Heavy masses draw their neighbours ever near.
The silent pull is constant, strong, and clear.
Great values draw believers to their sway.
The heart moves first; the mind explains the way.

When rhythms match, voices resound and sing.
One note can awaken every neighbouring string.
When spirits meet in purpose, hopes take flight.
One awakened heart brings joy in shared delight.

All nature leans toward balance, poise and calm.
Through countless changes, equilibrium is its psalm.
The soul finds balance, too, through losses and gains.
Pruning certainty and doubt until wisdom remains.

A thousand drops may fall without a sign.
One final drop can transform the whole design.
A thousand thoughts may gather, out of sight.
Yet one quiet insight, turns darkness into light.

Perception follows where the compass guides.
At Earth's magnetic poles, that rule subsides.
At South it's up, at North, it's pointing down;
So too, our conscience tilts, when truth turns round.

Entropy drives time on its one-way flight.
Each dawn moves onward, never back to night.
So too we age, through growth, decay and grace.
Time keeps no mirror — only every trace.

The laws of nature shape, the world we see.
The laws within decide, who we will be.
Perhaps, the universe is asking; not replying.
And every life becomes its way of trying.
