Premium Member Joy Is Enthusiasm Personified

Joy
Is enthusiasm
Personified,
And enthusiasm is from enthuse,
Which is from God,
Which is important
To most, not all, and this is okay.

Because we do not have to get our
Joy
In the same way, with the same ideas,
From the same books, or thoughts,
We also cannot experience joy
In the same way.
It would be nigh onto impossible,
As we do not have the same
Backgrounds, or the same
Experiences, and certainly
Not the same families.

But wait, butterflies and
Dragonflies and flowers are
Joyful to all of us, right?
Not if you stepped on an
Angry bumble bee barefoot
While you were looking at them.
Not if you were molested in a bedroom
With them on the wall.

The same rights and wrongs have
Not happened to us.
The same writes are not going to happen
To us either, although, to be truly honest,
I am quite enthusiastic when I read a
Poem and six neonate ideas spring out of
This poet’s ideas into my waiting,
Anticipating brain!
Sometimes I can
Barely wait to
Get to my
Computer
Which is why
I try to read
Everything I
Can.

Because right now,
Even if it is only for
A year, or only
For nine months,
Which we are coming
Up to in a few days,
Writing poetry is
Currently my
Latest obsession
And it still brings
Me joy.

As soon as the joy is gone,
I will disappear and no one
Will know where, but here is the
Why.

Because I do not do things
If they do not bring me
Joy.
Because there
Would
Be no
Point,

When I lose
Enthusiasm
It is over.
Writing
At one time
Was a big deal
For me, but I
Lost the joy,
And it was
Gone for
Nigh onto
40 years.

Obsessive compulsive?
You bet.
Joyfully so.

Premium Member A Matter of Form

After reading Connie Marcum Wong’s superb free verse poem
she entered into Line Gauthier Free Verse vs structured
Poetry Contest. It inspired me to go structured and write
A sonnet, using as much of Connie’s poem as possible.
First is Connie’s version, then my own.

Eloquence of Election

Expressions penned from soulful contemplation,
Rather rhymed, in form, or in free verse style,
May not decide my choice between the two.
It is the sense of awe that is the draw...
Awe that leaves one feeling so inspired,
Tears well up in eyes and deep sighs follow.
Poetry may rival the rising sun
With wondrous colored shades from dark to light.
Aquatic tunes in concert with moon's moods
Enchant us with the music they impart.
As love extolled in lover's lexicon
Rather rhymed with iambic expertise,
Or with angelic wings of free verse flight,
I love them both, I could not choose just one.

A MATTER OF FORM

Statements penned from soulful contemplation
Rather rhymed, in form, or in free verse style,
Decided not my choice of foundation
It is the sense of awe that pens the guile.
Awe that provokes one’s ardour to inspire
While tears well in eyes and deep sighs follow,
When to rhyme is to eclipse dawns sapphire
Shades of dark to light, gifts from Apollo.
Aquatic tunes in concert with moon's muse
Enchant us with the music they impart,
Lovers eulogize in poetry enthuse
If one rhymed with an iambic Mozart.
Or with angelic wings of free verse flight,
Is to love them both side by side, so right.

Often, it is the littlest smile, the hardest mile,
The darkest night and the wisest heart…
Who understand the trembling of a dewlike tear,
The whisper of a silence, breathing out a promise…
Light falling from the flames of an inspiration,
Amazing burning away the past, all that will last…
Stirs up the spirit with insight, wonder, music in an inkling,
Kindled by the passions, the intensity, the power….
Alive, like grace, raining hope through the pain,
Breathing joy into the wind, a feeling, a gentling, a moment…
When the heart grows its wings and love reminds the soul
To just believe, just believe…

Believing is the key to bringing down the beautiful rays,
Softly flowing hymns, dancing to the grace, the merciful,
The peace that comes to those who simply hear His voice…
In the stardust dreams, the kindness, the invitation to believe –
With a faith that only He can enthuse, a faith that, like love…
Comes from knowing the living truth…

He is the One who moves the heart to give, the soul to live.
With Him, there is hope for the moment when light lets in…
Eternity, forever on a prayer…
The promise of heaven, life with the One…
Who abides inside, in spirit, lifting every soul,
So we can know – salvation comes to those who just believe…
In the One who replaced the hardest heart with a kind and caring
Heart, softened by the remembrance of Him, who forgives sin –
Him, who teaches the wisdom of listening to scripture and giving…
The soul to Him who is more than a teacher – He is the scripture!

Look...See how long nights are drawing in.
Dreary birdsong gradually abates -
Opaque dusk grows dim;
And just outside the creaky little garden
Gate,
Stood opposite the empty wood
Where the vacant threshold silently awaits,
I pause, when, resonating quietly back...
I now hear...
Far distant echoes of my glorious childhood
Tugging like a Siren upon my ear.

With a heartfelt pang I turn to move,
Before my staring should offend some
Old friends ghost
To manifest in vengeful affright,
Towards the comforting sanctuary proffered
By the warm kitchens weak neon light...
That sneaks out from behind the half-shut
Door,
But held - Transfixed!
Brought from wither-not-where to this one
Small place - Staid...
As if caught in a state of heavenly grace,
Conversing to the soft wind in harmonious
Angelic rapport:-
Thus soothes like enchantments waves...
Rolling gently up to repeatedly break upon
Magical banks girdling Nivians lakeshore.

For what be this odd muse
That upon my aging senses does so readily
Enthuse...
And to my inner soul so inextricably
Implore?
Ahhh...But this much I may be allowed to
Say,
Before darkly gathering skies extinguish
Over weak flames of the last spluttering
Ray,
Perhaps it is our inner voice
That seeks out the solitudes of
Tranquilities choice -
To witness and record and dutifully store...
Those rare and fleeting moments
We all too briefly adore.

Absolute is her adorable attitude,
blessed and bestowed with a burning benignity,
city girl caught within life’s calamitousness,
darling to all that dare dote upon her. Naked!

Economize, be efficient, enthuse she must,
Fight! For her felicity. Feel! For those whom fall,
groping gouging with a grotesque gravitation,
hold on to her hospitable habitation!

Indurate through incest! Injured through inurement,
justice she seeks, a juvenile Judy no more,
kicked by society, knackered by its keepers,
laminated personalities lost in love!

Morning time! Brings the sunlight, the mist the misery,
Nymph nurtured by noble, just to serve motley men,
Org*sm Cried off, just an opaque memory,
primate pants, within the woodland glen!

Quaint in monthly quarantine, desire still to quell,
rebellious rivals, rustic, but youth on side,
sanctimonious salutations satisfy,
the test for technique, tediously still apply!

Unable to command usage. “Utensil spent”
Valuation decreasing via vulgar gent,
wise mind, weary body responds to the wanker,
xquisite flame soon xtinguish by the banker!

Yet she that lived in yonder past, youthfulness yielded,
zero hour approaches. “Erotic zone no more!”

because of censorships some words had to be removed or changed.

Memories On Branches

Early March, warm sunshine entices out
Numerous hidden sprig formed new leaves
From tree bark's yielding grey/brown seeping grout
encrusted branches stirring overhead
A Springtime environment conducive
For chattering chaffinchs' in their twos
Comes helpmate so eagerly to show
In nest mating rituals they enthuse

Herbaceous borders of sweet Summer stock
As high pressure heralds seasonal rain
Young fledglings bathing in puddles flock
Immaculately cut green lawn is laid
Under a medieval garden oak
Whose lightning-struck slit branches dip down low
Come country dwellers and city folk
To enjoy picnic fare under welcome shade

Crisscrossed stark bracken twigs blown far and wide
Tumbling, crispy dried, red/gold autumn leaves
Proclaims seasonal change as down they glide
Harvested wheat fields and ripe fruited fare
Evergreen trees, in lament, wave farewell
To bereft shedding foliaged trees
Where grey/red squirrels hide their last kernel
"Fear not, branches in arms, we shall stand guard"

Huff and puff, the wild winter storms take hold
Tempestuously taunts the upright elm
Forcefully humpbacked, it bends to unfold
Huntsmen hurdlers ride fleet in pursuit
As sycamore branches sate with new snow
Change the blasted landscape scenery
Badgers, moles and stoats in tracking go
Indistinguishable in form and size

TO ENTHUSE MUSE

          All around my ample activities,
           abilities and inabilities,
           simultaneous creation,
            recurring recreation
                                          on wide broad spectrum.
                                          So! Seldom feel boredom.

         Never lazy,
         mostly busy,
         sometimes crazy,
                                       Yet, me at random,
                                       enjoying freedom.

       Muse floats on my professionalism
                              in Science stream,
      though Fine Arts claim enthusiasm
                                 in dulcet dream.
                   Relishing Literature, Music
                   Dane, Drawing, Painting being Ecstatic.
                   Remaining rapturous, frolic:
                   My inherent characteristic.

                 Entertainment and Activities entwined
                 run parallel like Like-Twins
I try to adorn life with imagination,
                 dormant desires ready for decoration.

“Brevity is the sister of Talent”—
                  To enthuse Muse every moment.

Premium Member Gentle Night

Violet skies regard the drowsy moon,
Stars glisten on the edges of dark night,
Laughing eagerly wherever they’re strewn,
Evoking stories that gentle hearts write.

Stars glisten on the edges of dark night,
Softly glowing, restoring rest to souls,
Evoking stories that gentle hearts write,
With soothing words, their poetry consoles.

Softly glowing, restoring rest to souls,
Breathless promises shake the naked dew,
With soothing words, their poetry consoles.
Saintly blessings stirred the spirit’s breakthrough.

Breathless promises shake the naked dew,
Forest’s melody invites leaves to dance,
Saintly blessings stirred the spirit’s breakthrough,
Whispering passion, like a heart’s romance.

Forest’s melody invites leaves to dance,
Bursting with light, the trees sway to the tune,
Whispering passion, like a heart’s romance,
Waltzing with the rabbits, deer and raccoon.

Bursting with light, the trees sway to the tune,
The presence of starlight swells the heart’s muse.
Waltzing with the rabbits, deer and raccoon.
Perfect peace, wonders and dreams will enthuse.

The presence of starlight swells the heart’s muse.
Laughing eagerly wherever they’re strewn,
Perfect peace, wonders and dreams will enthuse.
Violet skies regard the drowsy moon!

Of Being Loved

Somehow the aching work to enthuse, to impress, to win over
Ends in a showboating mess of half acquainted neighbors
“Your friends with everybody” rings in my head as though she said “everyone thinks your funny but nobody would rely on you
Confide in you
Stand up for you”
I somehow still believe the narrative that if I change my environment again I can start over
And that things will be different
That building relationships takes luck and if you mess up the first time you have to begin with a tabula rasa because you aren’t flawed or socially inept no it’s always something else
Unlucky though because there have been plenty of trials
 And the hypothesis is incorrect.
Me, the control, has not changed
And every variable has been unsuccessful in making me anything more than well liked.
In conclusion,
I am flawed
I am socially inept
I am petrified at the idea of living much longer without love
And I know i know i know I am loved but I am
woman/human/girl/solid/liquid/gas
And
I ask for a love that feels like learning something new
I ask for a love that lays its arm on my waist in the middle of the night
I ask for a love that lets me shimmy and shout and squirm
I ask for a love that mustn't need to last forever but long enough to teach me that I am capable
