The Concert

THE CONCERT

The members of the orchestra had each gone to his chair;
The audience was waiting now for the conductor there.
And when he stepped on to the stand, applause was heard, and then
He lifted up his white baton and music soon began.
It started out quite beautiful, each person played his part,
But soon some went on their own way; they thought they were
	more smart.
Some put their music on the floor and stopped playing at all,
While others stared around the room at all the lights and walls.
Some started playing other tunes, some played too sharp or flat,
Some even talked among themselves, some even got in spats!
The leader was beside himself, not knowing what went wrong,
For he had planned this concert night for oh, so very long.
And now he was embarrassed by the actions of the band;
He tried to calm confusion there by raising up his hand.
The members of the orchestra just went their separate ways
Each thinking they were doing right with music they did play.
The audience was quite disturbed, for what they came to see
Was surely not a show like this confusing, sad melee!
This story is a parable of Christendom today:
We started out as one in Christ, but each went his own way.
Denominations, sects, and cults, all claiming to be right,
But all they do is disagree on everything and fight.
We can’t agree which Bible is God’s word for us today;
We can’t agree on how to sing and sometimes how to pray.
We can’t agree on baptism, security, or gifts;
It’s sad to see how very far from early truths we drift!
And some have even now denied the basic gospel truth
That many died for in those days of the church’s early youth.
They say that Jesus was not God, the blood was not required,
Or say that there are other books that God has now inspired.
They say that hell is just the grave, that Mary is the way,
That purgatory is a place where we could go someday.
Yes, many doctrines have crept in; just like that concert hall,
It’s hard for many to believe there’s any truth at all!
Yet our Conductor wants us back! We have a job to do!
If we would follow as He leads, what impact we could view!
It’s time we got back to the Lord, Conductor of our life,
And put away these selfish ways and arguments and strife!
It’s time to come back to God’s word, not ideas of man,
And follow our Conductor, Christ, and trust His guiding hand!

I Love Forgiveness

 It begins at home
even closer: it begins "I"nside
I have forgiven failures, failing in faith, inside me
Have you? Until you do, it is almost too hard
To forgive your imperfect parent, and therefore Father-in-Heaven
Lest it seems, I speak ordinary, old, old-fashioned sermon or speech
"Remember Mandela, South Africa, TRC? I was there!"
While billions only speak it, I have to live it
I did not want to; Mandela (OUR BELOVED MADIBA) made it policy
In the bad old South Africa, poisoned by a white Minority, 300 years
Still wanting NOT to share anything today; but we must for ourselves
And for Jesus (or for Mandela, or for Gandhi: both graced South Africa)

Yes, I have grown to love Forgiveness and Reconciliation in my heart
There it must begin, or it cannot come out into this bloody world
From the blood pump inside you, pure Jesus lineage can overflow
Once the mind and heart come into agreement, concord, one accord
(That's what happened at the Pentecost that birthed Christ's Church -
When the disciples, dreading death after Jesus's Crucifixion, locked doors
In the Upper Room, in Jerusalem, tarrying still: Fire in Holy Spirit fell!)
The Holy Spirit tells me to love like Jesus and Mother Theresa (now Saint)
Love till it hurts (and once hurt like that, NOTHING will ever hurt you & me)
I forgive because I see the forgiveness of Jesus (What does it mean? Sins?)
LOVE may begin in sin; but it flies with eagle wings, near the SON, forgiven
We reconcile with the Parent Above; who is really everywhere, doctrines do
not tell us all, only a start: God loved and offered reconciliation, but Truth
Demands we confess: I was a dirty, dastardly sinner, until He washed me
In the pure, precious blood of a Perfect Man, High-Priest after Melchizadek

So, dear brother and sister, I do not list sins to make you mad
That is only to assure YOU the Jesus way: Confess, Receive Grace, Live Free
TRC in RSA: TRUTH and Reconciliation (& Commission Under Archbishop Tutu)
Said anyone, white or black, who confessed their murders and sins
Would not be taken to court; only one was (Wouter Basson)
A whole nation forgave the white Minority under Mandela's mighty mandate
To Love and forgive like Jesus, for BIGGER things: like saving a country
From the kind of civil wars that rage on and on, fed by hate, all about US

Bottle Dance

BOTTLE DANCE

Across my land, abysses gnaw at automobiles,
From the foot of the mountain,
To the shores of the oil fountain.
Certificated youths drinking piss to mellow their brains,
Clutching at wheels, dodging bumps into fog lights.
“Stupid, ing dog” curse survivors of amputation “you bastard”
“Who cares, you swine” retorts I the offender
just before crashing into the next one.
In my shack, counting my yields and sighing,
evading the burning eyes of hungry breeds.

How did I ever get here?

In the ring stood I, surrounded by Foncha, Endeley, Jua and Ntumazah
Um Nyobe sang the UPC song and they danced.
They danced the bottle dance.
Sandwiching in the center, on the slaughter slab, my motherland.
Nigeria to the left, La Republique to the right,
Trampling upon outright independence.
Foncha danced and Endeley danced and Nyobe sang and Britain watched.
The tune was clear, the rhythm was jazzed but the lyrics were blur;
Whence had a nation’s independence,
Been conditioned upon attachment to already independent states?

So how did we ever get here?

A loaf of bread baked in the flames of WWI
And served into the plates of Imperial barons of foreign insanity
Too blind to the tongues of oneness.
Drawing a line far far away in the halls of mirror
That tore grandmother’s breasts apart.
The story of the Ewes of Togoland
Was being whispered in her land while she slept.
A line dragged across the highlands of the Adamawa and drained into the Atlantic,
Sullied the virginity and orthography of kamerun.
Grooming a set of dysfunctional twins through years of alien doctrines,
Only to be reunited in an unholy matrimony called Cameroon or Cameroun.
Testaments of tongues foreign like those on a devil’s Pentecost,
That sowed seeds of immortal division.

So this is how really I got here!

A son deprived of the warmth of a Mother
Drained of her milk,
Tapped and shipped offshore.
Scorned and oppressed by a brother,
His name slowing fading away from the sands of time.
And now, the land of bottle dancers clamour for a new dance:
For I know how we got here and I too want to dance;
Federation to the left, secession to the right,
Trampling upon the pseudo 1972 re-unification.
The blood of the brave pipe the tunes
And rhythms of gunshots meet hallelujah,
Sang in a coffin.

You Lied To Me: Message Against Religious Fanatism

You lied to me...
You lied to me when you said the church building was the safest place to run to-
When you made me believe those grey headed men dwelt in the castle of wisdom too-
That following every letter of the doctrine to the latter was the best way to live as a believer with little or no clue-

You lied to me...
You lied to my face with sweet utterances that lured me to confide in you-
Sweet lies with the beauty of butterflies you send from the pulpit right before my very eyes-
That hurting me with honest lies became the source of peace written in your skies-

You lied to me...
When you left me exposed to the harm of the world and spirits unknown by sending me out in discipline because I fell-
Protected your own, but left me, a fallen soldier to be chastised and face emotional torture, neglect and a living hell-
So you painted me black, as the sinner you see me, which means I count no more, so my pains and experiences I can't tell-

You lied to me...
That lies became the only truth I could believe in-
That no longer are words from your pulpit worth believing-
For every single statement you utter was more like the bullets aimed at deceiving-

You lied to me...
So don't make me lie to myself that you're the purest, cos I can no longer pretend-
For these words are not to slander or judge. No! This, I don't intend-
But I am a proof of my words so dare not ask me to defend-

You lied to me...
And you still lie when you call me dear, cos I know you don't even care-
You lost your saltines in my life, so your sermon has no slot in my ear-
For your letters, I'll tear, your voice I won't hear, cos the thought of believing you gives me fear-

You lied to me...
Under the covering of a minister, you hurt me over and over again-
Judging me by your standards caring less about my pain-
And getting humans to follow your doctrines not the creator, gets me sick and insane-

You lied to me...
So I pray I'll be the last soldier to ever fall-
The last you'll lie to and lash your rod of discipline into when you stand in front to call-
And a lesson on living by the standards of GOD OF MEN, not the MEN OF GOD to be learnt from by all-

For never again will I absorb your lies like foam and water cos man........, I'm older, am stronger and standing taller.

As well as His knowledge that teaches us to cling to His victory.

God covers us with His compassion as we respond to His service-calling…
Thanks be unto Him for bringing us to His plan of divine sealing
We need His direction to choose by faith what is righteously fulfilling
As well as His warning that restrains us from unholy dealing.

God covers us with His compassion as we abide in His governance…
Thanks be unto Him for upholding us to stand by His guidance
We need His power to fight by faith worldliness’ disturbance
As well as His strength that helps us in our sin-avoidance.

God covers us with His compassion as we journey with His light…
Thanks be unto Him for protecting us at all sides by His might
We need His vision to behold by faith His divine insight
As well as His illumination that makes His plan for us really bright.

God covers us with His compassion as we reach His standards diligently…
Thanks be unto Him for setting us by His kindness lovingly
We need His truth to establish us by faith upon His doctrines steadfastly
As well as His purity that sanctifies us to serve effectively.

God covers us with His compassion as we cast our burdens to His care…
Thanks be unto Him for cleansing us to be vessels of honour in His stare
We need His Word to triumph by faith in advancing His kingdom’s welfare
As well as His favour that commends our sacrifice of our full share.

Casting Down Emaginations

Thought for Today: Casting Down Imaginations
By Dana Redricks
Gods People
January 2, 2020

" We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ, being ready to punish every act of disobedience, when your own obedience [as a church] is complete." 2 Corinthians 10:5 (AMP)

Our minds are the battlefield Satan uses. Everything begins as a thought life. Our enemy uses our thought life against us. If we change the way we think we change the way we live. Everything is determined by our thought life. If we want to stop thinking negative we have to replace those negative thoughts with positive ones, which is the Word of God. The Word of God is for defense and empowering with the purposes of God. The act of defense is the act of standing our ground against attacks, and schemes Satan and his demonic host. The Word of God is our defense against the attacks of the kingdom of darkness of Satan. that's why it is important to cast down every imagination that exalts itself against God, and put on the full Armor of God,"Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]." (Ephesians 6:11l. We should put on the Full Armor of God, so we will be able to stand in the evil day. the Word of God equips us and gives us everything we need to live a successful life in Christ, and also come against the attacks and schemes Satan's demonic forces.

"The doctrines of the gospel and discipline of the church are the weapons of this warfare; and these are not carnal: outward force, therefore, is not the method of the gospel, but strong persuasions, by the power of truth and meekness of wisdom. A good argument this is against persecution for conscience’ sake: conscience is accountable to God only; and people must be persuaded to God and their duty, not driven by force of arms. And so the weapons of our warfare are mighty, or very powerful; the evidence of truth is convincing and cogent." Matthew Henry Commentary
