You’re like a song that I heard when I was a little kid but forgot I knew until I heard it again. - Maggie Stiefvater, Shiver
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some say love at first sight can’t be.
But, in your eyes, I found my life.
Dazzling lights, wilder than the sea.
With you, there was no grief or strife.
At our first touch, I felt hearts stir.
Some say love at first sight can’t be.
Your kindness I’ll always prefer.
We were so eager and carefree.
Loving, though we might disagree.
I’ll always recall that first look.
Some say love at first sight can’t be.
Now, I can read you like a book.
You’re my love, my joy and my hope.
One look at you just set me free.
Without you, I clearly couldn’t cope.
Some say love at first sight can’t be.
If everything weren't roses
gliding on a lonely lagoon
and eyes stared at skies ever blue:
you wouldn't show your enthusiasm too soon;
if nobody played strange games
to hurt the other, you wouldn't hang on a clue!
Let the waves carry you to the ocean,
turn back if only you heed some danger;
I've saved from storms, got no appreciation,
not even a hug for my sacrifice in high water!
No, you wouldn't show your enthusiasm too soon,
it'll make all the sand castles fall on white dunes;
nothing can be saved, they are fragile balloons
that drift past bright clouds on a high noon!
Why rush into something, run fast and fall?
Wait for a sign that, make sure it won't harm;
I've taken chances, broke rules and lost all:
even passion is fading, so is your charm!
No, you wouldn't show your enthusiasm too soon
and not wait for my answer should I disagree;
slow down a bit, consider feelings to a degree:
to make mistake is a normal thing for a buffoon!
What we wish for is clear skies and stillness,
our glances follow the flight of a thousand eagles;
they go far to disappear into the vast universe:
will we follow them or chase something else?
Today You're Getting Married
And There's Something I'd like to Say
Remember this Day Forever
And the Vows You Make Today
There Will Be Lots of Happy Times
And a Few That Make You Sad
But Always Be a Team
And Things Won't Be Too Bad
Always Take Time to Listen
And Remember the Love You Share
It's the Two of You Against the World
For Each Other...Always Be There
And the Times You Disagree...
Always Be Willing to Bend
You Don't Have to Break
Just Be like a Tree in the Wind
That's All I Have to Say
Except I Wish You Both the Best
And I Won't Worry about You
When They Lay Me down to Rest
Beeuty
Humble wasn’t a pretty bee, nor was he what you would call ugly,
But somehow he did ok with the ladies.
He got the eye, lots of smiles and feels,
But he never knew how to seal the deal.
So on he went, a lone little bee.
Most of the time, he seemed to bee quite happy,
But underneath, his heart was aching.
There was no mistaking, it was good love he was needing.
So one day he somehow managed to get BlondeBee
And sure enough, she sure was pretty,
But all the time they seemed to disagree,
About almost everything.
They had their time; Humble thought it was love,
But he had never experienced the real stuff.
So he stuck it out and liked it when they danced,
But at the end of each night he would never make romantic plans.
I guess he just didn’t see a future.
Well maybe he did, but it wasn’t with her.
So he decided to live in the here and now.
Who knows what will happen anyhow?
But BlondeBee could see this wasn’t the real thing.
She spoke to her friends in the hope of finding meaning,
But they were just mean and told her to dump him.
Move on, find someone else, you go Girl-Queen!
Dear 2020!
This Poem was Inspired by an Acknowledgment that this Past Year Was Difficult or Tough, That I Don't have All of the Answers, But I Serve a God Who Does. That I Did Have Some Beautiful Experiences in 2020, that Should be Celebrated and Not Over-Looked. But Most Importantly That I Must Learn To Trust More In My Heavenly Father, Not Just for the Major of Big stuff, But the Minor Challenges or Obstacles as Well.
A Son of Virginia Who is Loved in Philly!
This Poem was Inspired by An Interview that Mr. Allen Iverson had with the Host's of "All The Smoke". In It he talked Candidly about His Short-Comings, Mistakes and Challenges Which he was Forced to Overcome. When You Read this Poem I hope that You can Think Fondly of Those That You Admire, Look-up to, or Hold in High Regard, and that you Let Them Know that you Appreciate Their Positive Contribution(s) in your Life.
What Price Is Enough For a Win?
This Poem was Inspired by the Malicious Events which took place by People that Held Differing Political Views, or Belief Systems, and their Un-Willingness to See Another Point of View, Reach Across the Aisle and Make a Compromise For The Overall Good of Everyone. This Was Also Inspired by the Fact that After Individuals Disagree or Fight, While Holding Their Political Views Close to their Heart, They Still Have to Live Together, as Neighbors, Family and Members of Society, Long After The Election Results Have Been Decided and Concluded.
Holding Onto What May Never Be Again!
This Poem Was Inspired by the Events of Having Older Gran-Parents, Family Members and Close Personal Friends Who Are in their 60's or 70's and Remembering the Special Memories Made and Moments Shared When they Were Completely Coherent, were aware of their surroundings and Understood what was going on in circumstances that surrounded them. In Comparison to Standing by and Watching as they Slowly Fade into Someone that Does Not Recognize You as Time Passes. Even though You Can Remember Every Thanksgiving, Christmas or 4th of July Celebration. It also Addresses the Fact of How Helpless One Feels by Being Unable to Solve or Find a Solution to their Problem. For In Their Eyes One Can Tell That They Seem Confused and are Trying Hard to Recollect or Remember as Well.
No mere artist or poet can ever portray in oil or verse,
The grandeur of this great land and its people so diverse.
Never since The Founding Fathers set in motion its creation,
Has there been on all the earth a more grand and glorious nation!
Generations of valiant patriots from The Revolution to the present day,
Who placed national destiny above their own, now lie 'neath hallowed clay.
They sacrificed to preserve the precious freedoms God upon us did bestow.
So much, so very much to each of those courageous souls we owe!
Though they seldom get a word of thanks and work for meager pay,
'Tis the ordinary blokes who keep the gears running smoothly every day.
The farmer, the truck driver, the plumber, the postman who delivers mail;
Patriotic, hard working folks who carry their lunch in a beat-up dinner pail.
'Tis the land of opportunity where you can be all you aspire to be,
And enjoy the inalienable rights that The Constitution doth guarantee.
Among these the freedom of speech and the right to worship as you choose.
We are independent souls, yet can agree to disagree about our divergent views!
The pioneering spirit is alive and well in the people of this youthful nation.
We are renowned worldwide for our ingenuity and our innovation.
When it comes to being a generous people, we will not be outdone.
'Tis the people that make America great when all is said and done!
Beauty in the world surrounds
and sometimes it confounds
aspiring to something great
that not even time can manipulate.
But humanity has tried her best,
to harm, hurt, and even test
and yet we still try some more
but what happens when it's o're.
What legacy did we leave in place
that years and scars can't erase
that future gens try to re-do
and yet we still have no clue.
We're all at fault to some degree,
all of us, yes even me
but we choose to lay and wait
and silently contemplate.
A time will come when it's our turn,
and humanity will suffer the burn
for nothing is ever truly free
when taken back by destiny.
When Mother Nature has done her part
she will suffer not a broken heart
but peace will lay upon her breath
when humanity is called to death.
For she has given and gave again,
right up till the very end
No one knows when the end is near
but it's the reaper that we fear.
Though you may disagree,
we've had ample time you see
time to change and make a new
but this is not what people do.
Perhaps change can still take place,
while ugliness has reared its face
I don't know, nothing is certain
until the world shuts its curtain.
The control they had on me has cease to be,
yet still hold influence over the community,
whom believe with ease a belief of me,
I feel what they feel is felt for unity.
An ideal theory understood with ease,
of a stranger unknown nobody sees,
what's heard is heard and is all they receive,
the parroting parrot parroting thoughtlessly agrees.
Too disagree would isolate the leaf from the tree,
both trunk and branches would therefore look down on thee,
arguing a difference where only indifference breeds,
never flipping it 180 to a view with clarity.
People think they know me yet question my story,
can't explain the happenings acknowledge mystery,
but they certainly do judge me true despite uncertainty,
ignore my every word, they cause more damage than they see.
Celebrating the many years we’ve been free
Assuring that God is for who we bend a knee
Awakening inspirations to believe in true peace
Knowing that hope of independence must increase
Stirring feelings of elation that comes from trusting
Dreams that will come true with no need for adjusting
We share more than a country, but this precious liberty
Promising our hearts and souls so many pleasant possibilities
Touching our spirits with a sense of truth and a guarantee
Showing us so many ways to work it out when we disagree
Wisdom so strong that it bleeds pure inspiration to discover
Wings of freedom that ring with the truth found in a true lover
Let joy sing so that we dance with faith, hope and love for the USA
Where freedom is a reality that happens when we kneel and pray
One evening, in a sleepy Connecticut town, the locals saw a peculiar sight,
a UAP had landed in an empty field, and man, it lit up the night.
They were, axiomatically, from a distant galaxy, here to explore our shared cosmic space,
their metallic-phallic-rocket was multicolor pastel bright, like a carnival showcase.
There were cows that mooed approvingly and dogs that barked up at the sky,
like they needed to show where the thing came from - no one really knew why.
Soon little green people-like beings emerged, they had big, wide eyes that looked eerie,
but then again, this is how they’d always looked in movies and on TV.
"Take us to your leader," they said, but it was hard to take them seriously,
because this is America and most of us disagree on who that leader should be.
Someone brought out lawn chairs and the alien-astronauts settled in,
tables appeared shortly thereafter with a spread of pies, casseroles and fried chicken.
They spoke of their interstellar journeys, of planets far and wide,
of space cafes and wormhole highways and how gravity worked like tides.
One of the kids played some music and the explorers started to move,
soon we were having a dance-off - which they won - with some wacky, cosmic moves.
As morning light edged the horizon, our little green friends waved goodbye,
after saying that in some ways they envied us and our simple terrestrial lives.
Though they never promised to revisit, when the sky turns certain shade of blue,
townsfolk will set up a pasture party - just in case they do.
