Premium Member Immersion

The fog lay muffling the greenery gray.
Weighing down the atmosphere, sentient sorrowing,
with the benevolent masking intent
of Gaia’s heart.

Dampening, the forceful sound;
the torrent of the Mothers tears;
battering only the granite walls of her womb.
The indistinct tone hid a multiplicity of sin
both visual and auditory, keening.

The cloak covered a miasma
of valley-trapped pollution,
engulfing the optical plane;
creating a haven of rampant peacefulness.

Life immersed in the cleansing, the sorrow, the joy
of the universal gift bows in adulation
of the effluent and affluent beauty
absorbing the storms C tonal ring.

Illnesses besetting
Parents aging
Chilled waves of anxiety
     buffet the shore
Thunderclouds dampening
     soil and spirits
Cellos, subdued in minor sonority
play Eleanor Rigby in my mind
Painted ponies gnashing
     at their metallic captivity
In February

Health returning
Sandpipers scatter as we approach
Collecting shells
     with smiling mother
Children's laughter rains down
     on half-filled sand pails
Thundering gales of glee
as they test the frigid ocean
Trumpets dance to the melodic riff
     of Good Day, Sunshine
The painted ponies go up and down,
     'round and 'round
the brass ring again in sight

Premium Member Despite Distractions

Detaching myself from past experiences' dilemma
determined heart of mine denounces deceit-dominance
dauntless to soar despite distractions…

Devastated by dear Mom’s demise
distressed due to Dad’s despair over his darling’s death
despondent soul faced courage draining…

Demoralized with Brod’s departure from vowed kingdom duties
decreasing steadfastness questioned difficult virtue-demands
debilitating commitment’s diligence, struggling to defy doubts…

Despicable guilt-angst drowned my devotion
dampening service zeal with deafening “don’ts”
drying the will’s sap with demeaning failure doom…

Delivered triumphantly from days of despair
discreet spirit does cleave to God for His direction
daily yielding to Him midst complete dependence…

Dealt well by the Saviour’s grace to face such decade
dedicated indomitable spirit, propped with decisiveness
deterred not to deny my LORD Who secures me around His defense…

Driven now to ascend midst lurking detours
divinely-braced faith derails disorientation
drawn* to GOD for reaching-out ministerial delight.

Premium Member A Hundred Crows

On a walk after the worst of the Sandy storm
I slogged down the still dampening
Green grass valley rutted between
The moldering fences of the shadowed alley.

Under the low, ominously rushing, soggy gray clouds
I saw so many black birds silently
Clinging against the stiff breezes
To the broken branches of the skeletal oak on the corner
As if they relished the fate of the cruelly stripped leaves.

I saw a hundred crows there.
How many make a murder?

Black pointy wraiths;
Scattered commas lined up like
Iron shavings stuck
To magnetic branches.

Dull steel skies slid in vast arcs around them.
Sprinkling windy foreboding,
Their clouds reached down
To Collect their talons.

So many eyes I know they see
Spiny black needles poking out of me.

Bloodless murder, muffling gray gauze No need to caw…,

A hundred crows see it all.

Nobel Lionized Matriarchy

Freely forming metrical mainstays
poetic occasion to phrase
the fairer and gentler sex,
thus the following turns of phrase
to bestow acknowledgement

regarding wonderful wise ways
of collective she who assays
to create safe/secure home/ hearth
as bedrock and fount of ample
maternal duties tiredly sashays

with keeping house receiving praise
the second Sunday each May, her
tired body sprawled on chaise
lounge, perhaps basking in solar rays
communing with Gaia, who whiz
bruiting with sky goddess

defying forecasters prediction, no slate grays
pose dampening effect on huzzahs
regaling torchbearer diploid as amaze
zing newlife, where loving labor pays
more than fine spun gold cherishing
offspring in her nurturing ways.

Paean dutiful daily deference, I dole
ensconced with pineapple getup
surfing the cyber sea, this hyperbowl
lee, yet deserved dignity deifying dames,
who bear brunt whole
ding potent biological reproductive role

de facto duty honorably decreed
tribute paid despite commercialized
money making hyped up rigamarole,
nonetheless yours truly accentuates sole

saddled with disproportionate/ unfair toll.

Premium Member Ardor At Work

Looking at the mirror
with good day’s pleasure
I see slothfulness’ glamor
taunting with delight’s leisure
Yet ready to attack sense of honor
defying time-worth’s treasure
So defiant; not a generous donor
offering gift that costs much pressure!

I challenge you, my body’s indolent suitor
upon your procrastination’s grandeur
I’m aware of your wastefulness’ color
since programmed schedule you want to injure
I fight you for putting me in meaninglessness’ rigor
against unjustified torture
Dampening my work-ardor
by your entertainment-indulgence culture!

Face now my spiritual fervor
straightening your laziness-posture
I vanquish your terror
that’s underestimating my devotion-measure
See how I combat fruitlessness’ horror
striving for a productive future
While trusting God with His grace-anchor,
I press on by His might so sure!

Don’t shake me with doubts’ tremor;
I confront you upon truth’s nurture
You'll be overtaken by my Conqueror
… just prepare for a painful capture
Never dare me; you’re a deceitful actor
trapped inside reality’s exposure
I’m driven by the Victor
Who has mastered very well human nature!

Along my stewardship’s armor,
I smite you with discipline-censure
Having the Lord’s good favor...
I dominate over your lethargic displeasure
Upheld by His strong succor,
I subdue your destructive gesture
Trained by my champion Mentor...
I arise toward faith-performance venture!

Thus, by diligence-motor, ...
you, spirit of the sluggard, I adjure
Yield to the task-commander’s tenor
…follow work-ethics’ procedure
Escape from vanity’s galore
…be prodded to toil and endure
Girded by hardships’ candor
…stand up with zealousness-feature!

Opponent of losing savor,
Surrender your worthless seizure for healthy cure
Accept that you’re beaten by genuine labor
midst your impatience-tenure
I thank my Savior for righteous valor
making me win on persistence juncture
Guided constantly by the Director,
I persist in His triumphant service-business* pasture!

Premium Member When the Sun Drowns In the Sea

I walked home alone in the dampening mist
as the pastel colored sky blanketed the sun
His rays sank into the sea for their daily tryst
Resting among the waves, his work was done

And now the moon will rise in splendid glory
bringing lovers together in her lustrous light
while the mist hides the tears of my sad story
My heart is broken and my spirit is contrite

My cottage hearth will hold no warming fire
It's to darkness that I'll open my creaking door
No smiling face or welcome words will transpire
Twilight's become the time of day I most abhor

She would run and greet me when I neared home
But no longer do her laughing eyes meet mine
Her eyes now shine where she chose to roam
Bitter on my tongue is the taste of finest wine

Pity is not an emotion in which I choose to wallow
One day when the sun no longer drowns in the sea
perhaps then my wine will be pleasant to swallow
and memories of lost love will no longer torture me

Premium Member The Merry Mistress and Her Quill

To arms to arms, she cries this soul carefree
as she advances the words fly from her quill,
with her wit she poses a counter-riposte
lancing ripening spoils so they can spill.

All rancor fell before her bold advance
her laughter lightens his sour temperament.
Ma oui, the Mistress invited him to dance,
"engarde," she winks, then lunges with consent.

Ungloved, they dance across the pearl white page,
each double entendre brings a dampening blow
not circumspect, but with aplomb she stages
a mutual downfall while they were all aglow.

The finer points of nibs and quill, be damned
what matters most was the Mistress got her man.

Premium Member I Feel Spring's Gentle Caress

“Spring drew on...and a greenness grew over those brown beds,
which, freshening daily, suggested the thought that Hope traversed
them at night and left each morning brighter traces of her steps.”
                                                      ~ Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre

I feel the caress of Spring's gentle breeze
wafting through meadows and verdant hills
and swaying branches of budding maple trees

Spring welcomes rain as each drop softly spills
dampening the cheeks of my upturned face
until the sun's warmth relieves me of my chills

It's the season that I so lovingly embrace
when flowers grow in vast, colorful profusion
lovelier in a garden than in a vase

Lavender scents the air with sweet infusion
To God and Nature, I bestow gratitude
for the beauty found in their collusion

Spring arrives offering hope renewed
and fresh beginnings are redolently imbued
