Premium Member Secret’s Vulnerability

A troubled man held a dark guarded secret
Deep in a closet of his mind for years on end
No one knew this hidden in his anxious soul
Expect a long-trusted confidant and close friend

But secrets are difficult to put under lock and key
It’s like putting a leash on the strongest hurricane
Secrets can break out as one who seeks to be free
Yet, constantly pursued and divined by the suspicious

A great fear lingers in a troubled fortified mind
Especially that of a guarded holder of the hidden
Will the secret ultimately break free and thusly find
Itching ears that belong to the malicious and evil kind

It’s sad when the secret is stripped of shelter and cover
By a confidant and friend who proves guilty of vile abuse
For whom else could make one’s soul cringe and shudder
When by a trusted one the secret is unclothed and laid bare

Secrets are vulnerable to one’s inner weaknesses
And the ambitions of those of devious minds and nefarious goals
Those who desire to be spotlighted on the world’s stage
Boldly telling the secrets of a friend sworn to be untold

Gains from such misuse of relational trust can offer fame
May grease the palms of those who develop such evil schemes
But the yields are hard to justify or condone what’s been done
When the curtain of life comes down on an exposed and destroyed soul

Emma, it was 2020. You get on the Watford train, platform one to four
I don't even know when it was, the track was rapidly receding, gone
The desire to have you be known and close to you in the car, maybe there,
Your anarchic being hesitatingly collapsed into my soul and into my mind.

Two dry flowers, only the past, Welsh Harp's imprint, imagination in me, it's home
Life says you're blooming, and that makes me happy. I love you and get a lot of honor.
What awaits me awaits you, but don't be spoiled, your twilight giggles dryly, will be off
It's getting dark, but you don't see it. The disk of sunlight shines darkly on you,
Where you are, I'm never there anymore, I'm moving on, I'm dead without a body, an empty tomb.
I don't need anyone or anything from this world, just my wine glass winking at me,
Advice for me, but wine is what fills me with all that I still have hope for.

My soul is closed and confused, my mind is nauseous, and I'm looking for a new one. Come on
The world is now empty and dead to me. Let me end here and for
But I never said anything but that I loved you. I'll stake my life against your death, mine flow
This is what I want; live without me, and let your fate be exalted, your companion forever forgotten, still
So that you can go on in life without him, hope, and maybe love. But with him.

CAPACITY FAIL

So much pressure
To fill an unknown mission
Too many ingredients
And cooks in my kitchen

There's no way out
Of this tangled mess
I need help
Not ashamed to confess

I perceive a light
I will follow, just to see
Maybe it knows the way
And it will be revealed to me

Barely getting out
Of tight binds of fear
In great sorrow and grief
I find the light draw near

Feeling loss of perfect plan
When others can't perceive
Heart close to hurt
Prevents the possibility to receive

I see now, in every failure
The capacity to deepen and grow
The mission is never lost
Because the nervous system can't hold

...His glory

Know me?
          Not even close ...
If I were to write about ANYone that I had "issues" with

It would be to them directly
Not hidden in poetic device or analogy
My use of metaphor is for ambiguity and generalization

(Or events and people in the past)
Not hiding my sentiments about contemporaries
Don't assume that I care enough about hateful, contrary people

To waste any time on creative tapestries about them
There is far too much negative and hate in this world already
Without me seeking it out in those bent by its ire

Love and kindness and understanding
Are the only worthwhile human pursuits
And all I truly care about

Not petty personal peeves
Know me? Not even close ...
     But please, GET to ...

None of us have too many friends ... or too much love!

Muscle and Heart

The bell rings out loudly, signals the start,
must earn my keep through the pugilist’s art,
my foe is a tall one, beats me in reach,
to get in close my trainer sought to teach,
where those long arms won’t do him any good,
but right now his jabs hit link planks of wood,
I bob and weave, and I duck some of them,
but he’s a trip-hammer, again and again.
Duck and dive in, swing straight for hit gut,
just missing his skull, and a nasty headbutt,
like old Marciano, I pound at his ribs,
to steal the man’s breath, like Mickey Ward did.
He grimaces, struggles, but doesn’t play tough,
just does the smart thing, and ties my arms up,
the ref break us up, both of us can breathe,
then jabs come again, my eye starts to bleed,
but I break the jab, and drive close on in,
the blood just the cost for getting near him;
a hard way to make a dollar, that’s true,
but what else is a man like me to do?
I’ve known all along that I ain’t that smart,
and always got by on muscle and heart.

Another Heavenly Birthday

Another birthday separated by Heaven and earth
So close but yet so far apart
A day that celebrates the day of our birth
Where we became one in heart

A love that endures beyond your death
Your essence still lingers here
A scent that catches my breath
Reminding me that you are near

I will walk the worn path to your grave
Each step bringing me closer to you
Emotions roiling like a tempest wave
But knowing that you will see me through

I’ll sit quietly and look at your picture
Thinking of you with a father’s love
Holding onto the faith of God’s eternal scripture
That you are safe in His hands above

As always I will do my very best
To find my happy place
Remembering that I was graciously blessed
To be comforted by a son’s embrace

Happy Heavenly Birthday, my precious son.
I miss you beyond any understanding
and my heart remains broken without you,
but I have found some peace
with the pride I feel knowing your life had meaning.

He laughed…He smiled…He loved…He lived

May the Angels hold you close, son
And sing Happy Birthday to you…

How Sweet the Sound

When I felt so alone and no one else was there
It was His Light shone, that He really does care
With darkness all around as the walls close in
Jesus came and found in the destroying of sin

What no one else knew as loneliness came by
Jesus knew what to do as on His shoulder I'd cry
With winter outside my door and gray skies above
Then finding I was never poor covered in His Love

Even losing my way when I thought I couldn't return
The only thing He'd say is that I hope that you learn
Always there for me, in the good times and the woe
In order that I may see by His helping me to know

What would I do without, oh how I know where I'd be
To me there is no doubt that He has set me free
Though this is just one story there are so many more
Speaking of His Glory you should ask what He has in store

You Must Be a Friend To Have a Friend

Why am I alone you always say
You have to approach someones heart each and every day
Be there for them whether there well or ill
Have there back and give them the will
laugh with them until it hurts inside
Be there through the rough patches until the turn of the tide
Give them your warmth if they ever shiver
Hold them close when they cry a river
Maybe you wonder why you have no friends at all
You must reach out to help them when they stumble and fall
Give them all of yourself until your soul does rip
Then you'll know the true meaning of friendship
Confide and trust them dont lie or pretend
You must be a friend to have a friend

Swept Away Unfindable

I am the un-find-able ...the hidden now
But outside the wild winds still blow

I know lighter leaves in brighter hues still swirl
move and gyrate to the beat of music
arms and leaf tips in the air
hips and form flowing like the river around rocks
winding boldly over the slightest of hills and down again

They live in hope –with hope
that rises up and bursts forth in them ...fluttering of butterflies

they sweep out the preverbal door

How sweet it was!
the ecstasy of youth filled hope...each day a new shiny discovery!
Each night filled with starlight and street light and dazzle of white lights off wet pavement
potential brimming forth...the froth and foam of it!
washing them crystal clean...They await
self-discovery
and being
“discovered”
- to be made in a moment
–to be found more significant than the others
-to be a leaf......singularly found and lifted up among leaves

I taste it still in my dreams
you come to me as you did then...and we swing up fluid as a vine
and ride on mighty dark and wondrous steeds
we ride...into the thick of dark green mossed filled forests
ducking away with ease from the clawing limbs
that sought to dethrone us

Awake...I close my eyes
and rock
...whisper just audibly enough for me to hear
“Hi Ho Silver! and away!”

Premium Member Do You Really Know Him

She fell in love with him and they married
soon after the first child was born a girl
he never seemed to forge a link with her
never really created that magical bond

Later she would look back and see
all that she had been blind about
now could clearly see the cracks
how had she ever missed them?

Always a rather secretive man
never letting people get close
he would take to the open road
calling on clients making sales

Far and wide he did travel
but never seemed to get ahead
losing job after job he would rail
cursing his luck blaming others

One day she got very suspicious
noticing the stories on line
of women disappearing without trace
others raped and murdered

She felt shivers of fear could it be?
checking the areas where he worked
seeing a pattern begin to emerge
she called the sheriff's office

They soon dropped by plus FBI
and after questioning her
searched down in their basement
finding there all sorts of proof

Trophies he had taken and kept
purses, bits of jewellery and hair
Jar containing horror full of fingers
in a couple there were eyeballs

She had lived with this monster
slept together never realising
their daughter now was fifteen
and prone to strange silences

They watched together as
he was caught and led away
no tears fell from either of them
she caught up in all the horror

Could only look at her daughter
and wonder, yes wonder
did the apple fall close to the tree?
was she also tainted like him?

With her weird silences that shut her out
the neighbourhood pets found tortured
a sense of fear when she was behind you
the blood sometimes on her clothes

In the end fearful for her own life
she had her committed to bedlam
her daughter capable and willing
another killer now locked away
