Carlo Santana's Black Magic Woman,
in the 60's and 70's gave magic to his
band..

Drugs were part of this movement it's
fair to say. Getting high for many,
while listening to their music, was the
common way

   Peace signs, beads, bell bottoms,
psychedelic shirts, desert boots, and
long hair and marijuana, is what was
in style. Looking back and being part
of that history lifestyle, makes me smile.

   Peace protesters against the draft,
and Vietnam war. Jimi Hendrix, Peter,
Paul and Mary, The Beatles, Bob Dillon
The Beach Boys,Led Zepplin, Rolling
Stones,Elvis,Simon and Garfunkel,
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Neil Young,
Leonard Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, Carly
Simon is all we heard.

They kept our soldiers in Viet Nam
mentally occupied. It helped them
overcome their stress, and brought
some pleasure to their lives.

Rock N Roll Music had an impact
everywhere.The melodies and lyrics
represented a culture reflecting people,
who really cared.

  Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith,
Neil Diamond, Barbara Striesand,
Jim Croce made the scene. Years later
Disco and the Bee Gee's came dancing
in.

Disco died, it didn't last long, during
this time Rock N Roll kept rolling on.

Rush, The Eagles, The Police, Peter
Frampton, Boston, Reo Speedwagon,
Blue OysterCult, Fleetwood Mac, Bob
Seger, Steve Miller band, we listened
to. I can't forget Journey, Bruce
Springsteen, Foreigner or the Who.

Bon Jovi, Creed, Madonna, Red Chili
Peppers, Van Halen, Black Eye Peas,
Were hot then. Rock N Roll songs, will
keep on playing, and be appreciated
over and over again.

Time reflects the Lyrics in the songs,
of the good times and the wrongs.
Woodstock brought them all together,
a lasting bond to last forever.. .

 Homeward Bound Simon and Garfunkel
was the favorite song with the soldiers. Also
John mentioned The Lion SleepsTonight by
the Tokens. Robert Lindley also mentioned
their groups that were left out. Please read his
comments below. I also thank Robert for his
valued input.

I just want to add that the 60's and
70's were my personal favorite years.
I say this because people really cared
about the war and each other. They
were right...

This Romeo is bleeding, but you don't see his blood - Bon Jovi - Always

I pretend not to care that you're gone.
You don't see me bleed through my skin,
but my heart sure is bleeding, so please...

                       Come back to me!
                       Come back to me!

Would you care to know how much time
I spend pining for your return?
There aren't enough hours in the day!

                       Come back to me!
                       Come back to me!

                   Do you know how long
you swim in the sea of my mind?
My beloved, I miss you intolerably.

                        Come back to me!
                        Come back to me!

                  I would if I could genuflect;
before you with my hands folded
             endlessly pleading, please...please...

                        Come back to me!
                        Come back to me!
                        Come back to me!

Your sudden goodbye left me blindsided
We planned to dream til infinity...
now I'm so lonesome I could cry.

I LOVE YOU

My passionate eyes dared to peep deep in your looks.
but not sure whether your eyes glistened or not.
My anxious tongue spoke so many words to reach your ears.
but confused whether you were sincere or serious to listen.
This Romeo is reading the heart of a blooming bud.

My emotive urge is surging, cascading to touch your mind
but getting bewildered whether it could moisten your feelings.
My eager dream screams knocking your reticence in vain.
I am ignorant whether you will ever indulge my craving
This Romeo is brooding and his amour flowing in flood.

My yearnings hope, you are sure to reciprocate once,
but you are mysterious, still an enigma to me
Your introversion repels me, yet I long for your love.
I will wait with patience and can’t let you go, Dear!
This Romeo is bleeding, but you don’t see his blood.

It's Not My Life, It's His

Riding to work in the car I saw this certain license plate
Naming a certain rock star in how all this played into fate
I wouldn't give such praise for it's God who gets the Glory
Leading me along in my days even in this tiny little story

Perhaps in a minute or so I changed to another station
With two familiar words I know with the Bon Jovi nation
"My Life" is what the words were and that was the end
To the Lord I defer listening to messages He does send

This plate I've never seen before followed by that phrase
How many know what I mean in each and all of our days
You just think a thought, how often the Lord will respond
All these things I was taught has created my greatest bond

So the plate was Jovi-4evr as I just past that car right by
Sure it was pretty clever but the premise of it was all a lie
The Lord making it clear to me in His consistent presence
To hear such as I see, as it is always His Love I can sense

One day I sat here dreaming
In my mind for what to draft
As she lay there in my studio
This artist began to craft

This is what I seen
As I pictured her this way
For conclusion of my efforts
They will get a chance to play

I started with her ankles
Using chocolate for the stems
Working to her heaven
Making a birds nest with her mane

Half way up her Torso
The chocolate touch with green
Continuance of the stems
Like I pictured in my dreams

Around her upper torso
To her shoulders and her breasts
Crafted with coloured icing
This put me to the test

Texture with awesome creases
Took shape from their stems
The picture that was forming
Would excite many men

Filling in the voids
With leaves and chocolate thorns
From my beautiful naked maiden
A garden of roses formed

In beautiful scarlet red
En captured with her curves
This 3D shaped body canvas
My love for her purely serves

So many hours of crafting
You should see my maiden now
Like a bed of roses
Listening to Bon Jovi now

Now my task is over
A picture for posterity
For it's time to do some gardening
My darling maiden and me

G'Raitt

Springsteen has his Jersey girls,
But I don’t belong there.
When Bon Jovi takes the stage,
I would just feel wrong there.

Randy Newman’s songs are great
And I love Paul Simon.
Billy Joel does justice to
His lyrics’ perfect rhymin’.

Carole King can nail a tune
And I dig Tom Petty.
If James Taylor is performing,
Get me there – I’m ready.

Yet there’s someone who can cause
My blood to percolate
When she belts a melody –
I’m talkin’ Bonnie Raitt.

Sorta country, kinda rock;
Deep and rich and bluesy.
Every note and word she sings
Is sure to be a doozy.

When I catch her on CD,
The radio or stage,
She still sounds as good to me
As she did half her age.

Keep on groovin’, Bonnie Raitt
And let your music soar;
‘Cause when I hear your magic voice,
I want to hear some more.

Broken tears - unforgettable love
I can still remember the way they looked
They radiated with elegance and grace
A unbroken chain with roots on the ground
I wish I could rewind time
give love a second chance

As long as the stars shine
- soft as a cradled baby
"I will always love you"

East meets west and love is put to the test
Amor arrows made of stainless steel
Should love's stand or fall
We know that heart and pain
are inextricably linked
Faith, hope and love
Only God has the right to judge

As long as the stars shine
- soft as a cradled baby
"I will always love you"

Sweet scent breathed from the parting lips
Like fragile wings of a hummingbird
Passion, words alone cannot express
Everything was perfect
nothing at all was wrong

Broken Love

plethoric is his mind
shifting thoughts
like shadows cast
in and out of clouded skies

he falls
with the shame shadiness
into the concealment of pain
arising momentarily
whenever someone nears

he only hears
words echoing
down lonely corridors
as they bounce back
from the thoughts of mind
yet he speaks back
in half witted thoughts
that make you look past
the emptiness in his eyes

he weeps
alone at night
his tears
refreshing the scent
of her perfume
on the pillow
he harbors

he feels
the pierce
of daggers
with each beat
of his heart
as he struggles
to breathe
beneath the weight
of the heavy burden
he carries

Celebrating America

In a regular year, there’d be galas and balls
And we’d watch little snips on the news,
But since things are on hold and all protocol falls,
One big party was set for our views.

On a virtual stage, with Tom Hanks the M.C.,
It was concert and feel-good event;
Meant to unify all, it was, we’d all agree,
A warm welcome to our president.

Jon Bon Jovi, John Legend, Foo Fighters and Bruce,
Tim McGraw, Katy Perry and more
Sang with passion and joy, quite enough to produce
All the hope we need Joe to restore.

Former presidents banded together and spoke.
There were excerpts from speeches and poems
And a focus on all of those everyday folk
Who allowed us to stay in our homes.

At the end there were fireworks lighting the sky
While the mask-wearing Bidens looked on,
So symbolic and moving no one could deny
Such relief the old tenants were gone.
