A lot of ways to disguise
Beautiful dresses conceals ugliness
Makes us feel confident
Happy and proud
Arts reveals the beauty of the surroundings
Concealing the destruction of man to the nature
Adds pleasure to life
Music, the melodies from heaven
Concealing the sound pollution of the surroundings
Beautifies life
And reveals the inner beauty of man
Literature
Praises or criticizes
Find the meanings of life
And the inner self of man
And the real state of nature
Speeches from the mouth can be everything
It narrates, it speaks out, it advises, it praises
Or it cheats, it exaggerates, it slanders
We may enjoy disguising for the time being
But a disguise may not be successful sometimes
As our hearts and wisdom know everything
And we'll carry the guilts to the last destiny
I start my afternoon hike up a mountain trail.
October’s sunlight, the vestige of Indian Summer,
dapples my exposed skin with welcomed warmth.
Sun’s rays are gilded tendrils cutting through pines
whose needles’ sweet scent
I breathe deeply in.
I can almost taste the breeze as it rushes past,
waltzing through the many trees.
The sky, immersed in azure, is heavenly!
I imagine its clouds having been swirled by the wind
with which I wish I too were dancing.
Bright foliage surrounds me.
I am bedazzled by them as they ostensibly flaunt
hues of scarlet, rich amber honey, russet, and tangerine -
an ocean of windswept trees!
My destination is a pristine lake where new trees
shimmer - mirrored in its crystal blue.
One oak is so tall it seems like a steeple reaching upward.
Its limbs have formed an arbor which beautifies
the view that greets my eyes.
Acquiescing to enthrallment, I linger there
where tranquility’s quintessence abides,
inhaling October’s unique potpourri.
Dusk will soon swallow up the day,
so I begin my descent. Birds twitter; leaves whisper.
Seeing me, a timid rabbit scampers behind a bush.
Heaven seems fused with the terrain,
igniting my world with iridescence
as against a splash of persimmon, seagulls soar.
How I would love to glide home like those glorious birds.
Intoxicated by the rhapsody of colors,
I come to the bottom of the trail with just enough time
to reach my home’s comfort before night’s chill
envelops all.

For Eve Roper's Still-Life Autumn Scene Poetry Contest
...like the stirring wants of summer eves
that slumber in naked beds
that hold our attention from heart to head
linger
like the soft full lips that speak the neon tension
of need
that give us light and motion
intimacy that beautifies what the earth has
lost in smoke and war
linger easefully on my chest
lover
with anthems of lore in a spirited telling
that bind us in the seeds they sow
that the languid moon might own
for the voice I hear this passing night
rich with racing wine
lingers with its tasting
when all the bobs and buds of touch
bubble like the rain

Lilac shrubs swing inn cheers and glee.
Marigolds make merry in Spring garden,
Never become extra or season’s burden.
Overwhelming jewel as Spring detector
Primrose rose inviting bees for nectar.
Quenching thirst of Spring – admirer
Rose realms supreme in reign of flower.

Tiger Lily looks top in fantastic hue.
Under Spring’s canopy Sun never turns arrogant.

Let lost love last not long and laugh loud pure
Lest, loneliness lane shall lie thy heart dying
If love isn't made to get burning in the blue
Its authenticity will fade away easily when time comes
Love when real brings more defense than pretence
Love breathes hope and joy into lives crying
To make the bliss of opportunities shine bright
Love drives away fear and empower courage so true
Living a life others wish a dream freely assured
Love changes all bums become chums
Love permits lion live like a sheep amidst Goats
Love caress the prodigal; defines him to be generous
Love gives the light to the weak in the night
Love beautifies grace to cope with every possible fright
Love let life live long logically loosing lust's lengthy line
Love pays off happily without strength to cure
Love lead aright to save lost time in trial
Love heals the world like a valid vial
Love is the key to open the hardened heart
Love is awesome when it's seen and embraced an art

Toward heavenly standard the Lord propels me wisely
Moving me to paint with words about His greatness
Along worship's awe at His supreme omnipotence
From worldliness' view devoid of biblical regard…
He guards my pen of publication against deceit and lies
So I can present a masterpiece of truth worthy of His commendation!
Toward virtuous ways the Lord ushers me thru His goodness
Moving me to paint with kind deeds my testimony regarding Him
Along gratefulness' praise for His compassion and mercy
From apathy that darkens sharing acts and obscure prayer delight…
He leads my paintbrush of service against selfish interest
So I can represent Him in the best way I can - all by His grace!
Toward eternal triumph* the Lord goes with me for faithful stewardship
Moving me to paint with joy life's essence midst harsh realities
Along serenity's bliss that comes from trusting Him - my Saviour
From hatred's misery caused by despair and discontentment…
He beautifies my faith-performance with colors of His favor
So I can persevere in pleasing Him - my life's ultimate Painter!
*Psalm 92:4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

you are my superstar by far
simplicity shines solace in the midst of your presence
if i had a spotlight to make true beauty stand out, then you would surely be it
i once had a stairstep life that creaked and cracked
then you came along and unexpectedly repaired all that
now my life is a one story standout totally remodeled
i once had some artwork that was smeared and smudged
then you came along with the clarity of newly bright colors
now my outlook is more modern and less abstract
you are my superstar by far
a gentle peace beautifies the skies of my days like a rainbow
if i had a pot of gold to bless natural beauty with prosperity, then by golly you would be a surefire fit
July 13 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on Proverbs 1-4
Key Verse – Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
FAITH IN GOD WHO IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM
God is the beginning of wisdom for our instruction
While His law beautifies us with ornaments of sanctification
Against worldliness and carnality’s lustful provocation
In our walk by faith, overcoming temptation.
God is the beginning of wisdom for our spirituality
While His counsel teaches us toward our maturity
Against pride causing calamity of futility
In our growth by faith, trusting Him for our heavenly prosperity.
God is the beginning of wisdom for our understanding
While His commandments find us in His Word, sincerely abiding
Against unbelief along doubts’ binding
In our discretion by faith, declaring His truth for life-building.
God is the beginning of wisdom for our deliverance
While His reproof guards us with correction-assurance
Against foolishness that hinders our grace-filled perseverance
In our endurance by faith, involving in His kingdom’s furtherance.
God is the beginning of wisdom for our holiness
While His Scripture leads us toward testimony’s righteousness
Against selfishness, haughtiness, and covetousness
In our good works by faith, magnifying His greatness.
God is the beginning of wisdom for our servant-heart’s venture
While His precepts guide us to enjoy our His stewardship-nurture
Against slothfulness of unproductive and future
In our performance by faith, conquering self-pity’s torture.
God is the beginning of wisdom for our redemption-confidence
While His power secures us with His omniscient prudence
Against mockery of evil along curses’ incidence
In our commitment by faith, obeying Him in His providence.

I'm proud to be a Persian, there's no doubt
though some may look at me with veiled disdain
To honored heritage, I give a shout,
and here I bare my love in words made plain
When Cyrus captured Babylon's strong hold
The greatest in the world this man became
"Anointed One", in scriptures, name so bold
Religious freedom reigned; he banished shame
And through the years this country has survived
Though some have sought to crush it to the ground
its music, lore, and culture only thrived!
The wonders of my country still astound
Rich flavors mix in scrumptious Persian food
and saffron beautifies the long grained rice
Delicacies await each interlude
Desserts so decadent beg one more slice!
My heart just thrills when Farsi greets my ear
A language soft, melodious and sweet
When set to music, all the world must hear
Indulgent rhyming words, a lover's treat
You claim to know Hafez and love Rumi
“A Thousand and one Nights”: a splendid tale!
Well then, my dearest friend, listen to me,
for these great writers from this country hail
Armenian Persian is my ancestry
My childhood in Iran, a glorious time!
Leave prejudices out of poetry
My Persian pride will live on in this rhyme!

Cyrus the Great is mentioned in the Bible:
Isaiah 45:1-13
"This says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whom I have seized by the right, to subdue nations before him." He was known to be benevolent and to give those he conquered the right to worship as they wished. Also, the Jews were given the opportunity to rebuild the temple during the reign of another Persian king, Artaxerxes.
I thought I would just give a footnote so that the reader will understand the references in the poem. We all have to be proud of our heritage. I haven't been back to my country since I was 11 due to various reasons, but...the memories I have will always warm my heart.
Poetic forms like the Rubaiyat and Ghazal are Persian forms, along with the Mathnawi. Persia is famous for its carpets, cats, and caviar...the three C's...along with so much more. Of course, my daughter's name, SHEREEN is Farsi and it means...SWEET. :)
The way my heart beats
Whenever you are around
The way you love me
Without making a sound
The way you hold me tight
When my ship runs aground
"That is the way I will always love you"
The way the river flows
Into the sea
The way color beautifies
The cool mountains fall trees
The way the sight of you
Sometimes buckles my knees
"That is the way I will always love you"
The way the suns rays pour down
To warm the earth
The way joy belongs
At the heart of new birth
The way I'm loving you
For all I am worth
"That is the way I will always love you"
The way you hold me close
When I am in pain
The way you kiss me gently
And then kiss me again
The way I will always be here
Through the sun and the rain
"That is the way I will always love you"
