Struggling inside human fortress
babe agonized inside womb
as Mom was afflicted yon her willingness
yes, along her defiance---
for how could she nurture
another human being while still a teen
and battling over sexual abuse case?
Such called for a miracle...

Conquering distress of early and forced pregnancy
the biological Mom… was rescued
yet she faced batteries of anxiety-tests
vanquishing overwhelming pain
of physical and emotional duress
while choosing to let go
and be extricated from her trauma
not abandoning her child, but voluntarily placing him
within the rightful custody the child needed…

Meanwhile, that baby… diagnosed with infantile spasm epilepsy
burdened my heart, and I admitted cringing with fear
when I heard his neuro-pediatrician expressed this prognosis:
“he will progress toward retrogression…”
Being his surrogate Mom, I constantly battled through “what ifs…”
midst skepticism and doubt, attacking my Social worker role
if I could make it as a life-builder to empower another person
against angst of guilt that challenged fulfillment of task…

Currently, the child stays vibrant...
manifesting milestones, even in his prayer life
overcoming disability-pang while giving thanks to God
freely navigating teen-age journey
midst wheel-chair mobility-triumph
socializing through sign language wonders
earning “Most Cheerful and Friendly” awards
along “Most Improved” citation
around our care and love in his Orphanage family...

The last page of his story???
Such is an anticipated victory!

Personal Ad

Personal Ad -Advertisement-Article- (In need of something a little bit different)

I'm looking for a female with a personality other than herself
Someone different from me. Tranquilized, homogenized and light
Traumatized by clowns and cotton candy
This individual should be alive at the time of this printing
You must come with instructions and triple A batteries
A turn off valve and buttons that say "off" are essential
This candidate needs a mouth, a nose and an eye
At least one, two would be preferable, three would be scary
Four would be excessive. Five would be ridiculous.
I pay by the hour not by the eye

A head and ears are optional
Weight and height are your choice
The perfect candidate should be clearly invisible
Not hatched from an egg or manufactured in a mold
Make-up is required. There is no such thing as too much.
You must have good grades in math and take baths
You will be required to do my taxes and make sandwiches
I will pay you for your services with salted crackers
I am looking for a purely platonic relationship
One that has no strings attached
Marionettes need not apply.

If you own pliers you can be my dentist
A person with low to no self esteem is perfect
I expect to hear from you but only if you speak
Once I get a phone, a shelter and my memory back
With a copy of my completed income tax
You will be considered a person of interest
And not much more.... Unless you do windows
Then we can explore

Premium Member Need New Batteries

Here's a story that's one for the books
A tale that's really quite odd
Turned out the lights in our hotel room
And journeyed to the land of Nod

Woke up next morning bout seven a.m.
Anxious to get back on the road
Packed our things and went to check out
Started to get a feeling of forebode

Doors to the lobby were locked up tight
Not a soul to be seen anywhere
Thought to myself this is really strange
Usually there's people everywhere

Noticed the watch on my wrist had stopped
It was reading five fifteen AM
Damn thing needs new batteries I thought
So we get back on the road again

Not a lot of cars which seemed a bit strange
It was still pretty dark outside
Passed a sign which gave the correct time
And I couldn't believe my eyes

Nearly ran off the road as I checked it out
Five twenty-four the sign read
The clock in the room was out by two hours
Could've still been asleep in bed!

Pioneer

The Pioneer spacecraft, launched in nineteen seventy-two
now roams deep space with batteries flat, and nothing else to do.
There may be chance that it gets found by aliens, I guess,
so on it's hull NASA has stamped a full return address.
Along with this inscription are two figures on the plaque
of what E.T will find should he bring our old spaceship back.
A man stands by a woman, with one hand raised in the air
(which should cover his naughty bits since both of them are bare)
On first glance to an alien, the differences are slight
so why on earth do we find more differences just to fight?
You're from a different country, different colour, different creed,
if like that plaque we all stripped back there wouldn't be the need
since as a species, human beings, we are the only one
so come on Earth people, group hug, and let's just all get on.

Marbles

MARBLES

When I was a child like (72 years ago)
Marbles were extremely important to me
If someone took or lost my marbles
Very upset it would cause me to be

Marbles were very important back then
No electronics or batteries to replace
A very low maintenance toy for sure
All one needed was a little space

As we age marbles are of utmost importance
So essential for a healthy body and mind
Without them we would cease to function
Thus a healthy life would come to a grind

So please take good care of your marbles
For we know they cannot be replaced
Try to live a healthy lifestyle
And a long happy life we hope to embrace

Premium Member The elevator man

He was fearful that if he fell asleep,
lithium batteries in his cells would leak.
A new prescription his psychiatrist wrote
and that's how he started on Depakote..
His ups and downs were hard to endure.
One day he seized on the kitchen floor.
There wasn't a history of seizures before.
In time he grew so darn depressed that most
mornings he could barely get dressed.
His psychiatrist put him on Vraylar.
Soon he was flying high, like a rock star.
Eventually became delusional and wrecked his car.
The psych. scribbled while drumming one thumb,
and put him back on his Lithium.
People stop blaming "the elevator man."
He's taking his meds. He sticks to the plan.

A Place Where Race Does Not Matter

There is a place,
Where everyone who needs some space,
Can come for batteries to replace
And forget about race,
Or the colour of their face.

A place where the only questions you will be asked,
Are, do you have respect for the human race,
And the property in this place?
Giving you the right to enter this space,
To enjoy what should be commonplace.

If you ever enter Wainuiomata space,
You will surely hear about this place,
Where no respect for the human race,
And the property in this space,
Will leave you outside this place,
When your protest does not suit this space,
Or the people in this place.

But if you you can show, a change of heart has taken place,
And you want to re-join the human race,
Showing up with a face that bears more grace,
Will get you a welcome at this place.

Ever Ready Man

My mummy ran a chemist shop.
In our little town.
Daddy was the chemist.
He preferred to act the clown.

Seven children growing up.
So little time to spare.
The Ever Ready man
made my mummy care.

Because he was so handsome.
and looked at her "that way".
It used to remind her
of her bygone days.

Once a month he came
to stock up the shelves.
I could tell they were flirting.
At the tender age of twelve.

Nothing ever came of it.
He was married too.
All that pheromones...
What could my mother do?

The Ever Ready man,
with his batteries galore.
Gave mum a moment's release
From all those daily chores.

I just wish I had
an Ever Ready man.
I could look up to.
Wouldn't you?

It Sucks

It sucks...
The batteries in my mouse are dead and abused
the charge expelled from too much random use,
I should ,I guess
be more grateful of that which with I'm blessed.

It sucks...
The corn and sunflowers once tall and beautiful
lay on the ground pressed down by heat and rain
while bills arrive each and every day still dutiful
as the checkbook balance gets lower than its gain.

It sucks...
The squirrels took a bite out of all my tomatoes,
and the squash rot draws the flies
the carrots and radishes hide like potatoes
what did I do wrong and why?

It sucks...
The bees buzz doesn't come to flower anymore.
the butterflies flit and flutter hurriedly away
standing looking out the back door
the neighborhood gets more quiet every day.

It sucks...
The rose petals fall and not a bud remains
the baby birds have all flown the nests
when winds and clouds shed torrential rains
as every heart tries to handle the Covid tests.

It sucks...
Summer burning, humidity unbearable
 and sequestered here at home
marketers call on the phone hysterical
and tv is the same old movies while I'm home alone.

It sucks...
Being young and foolish, taking too long to grow,
getting old comes too fast and time grows shorter in truth,
everything just sucks you well know
even children long to go back to school forsooth.

It sucks ...
The man up on the hill is such a fool
 never recognizing anyone else's need
it sucks that he isn't very well schooled
as American history is on its knees and bleeds,

Premium Member Rumination

Anxiety
Die in me
Subcutaneous illumination
Lost to the outer radiation.

Anxiety
Die in me
The chronometer chokes with ghastly hands
Laced around my larynx.
As my nerves grasp the bedsheets
Tearing twin threads into tatters

Turning torn strips into tether’s end
Lost in the labyrinth of rumination.
Ruination and whispered desperation

Like Sisyphus, I shove the stone of dread.
Only to see it roll back, crush my head.

There goes my broken TV.
A black hole sucking consciousness
Smashed under the weight of worry.
My boombox without batteries
Refusing to sing, killed by manic panic.
My crashed computer full of sick
Pixels burning my retina.
Defenestrated
I have seen too much.

Anxiety
Die in me
Oblivion, my sight.
I close my eyes.
I cannot close my eyes.
Missing pieces of sleep
Blue light tablet
Labatt’s and screens
Interfering with the serene scene

Anxiety
Die in me
I have no high in me.
below the floorboards.
Underneath the scoreboard
I got no fight in me.
Anxiety

Laugh, lie, cry inside.
No carefree sighs from me
But all this rye in me
Fractured bottles spying me.
Anxiety
Die in me

Drink
Stand up.
Drink
Sit down.
Drink
Speak out.
Drink
Shut up

Anxiety
Die in me
Leave me empty and free.
Standing still in tranquil seas
Under the water, carry the water.
But remove water…
