It Sucks

It sucks...
The batteries in my mouse are dead and abused
the charge expelled from too much random use,
I should ,I guess
be more grateful of that which with I'm blessed.

It sucks...
The corn and sunflowers once tall and beautiful
lay on the ground pressed down by heat and rain
while bills arrive each and every day still dutiful
as the checkbook balance gets lower than its gain.

It sucks...
The squirrels took a bite out of all my tomatoes,
and the squash rot draws the flies
the carrots and radishes hide like potatoes
what did I do wrong and why?

It sucks...
The bees buzz doesn't come to flower anymore.
the butterflies flit and flutter hurriedly away
standing looking out the back door
the neighborhood gets more quiet every day.

It sucks...
The rose petals fall and not a bud remains
the baby birds have all flown the nests
when winds and clouds shed torrential rains
as every heart tries to handle the Covid tests.

It sucks...
Summer burning, humidity unbearable
 and sequestered here at home
marketers call on the phone hysterical
and tv is the same old movies while I'm home alone.

It sucks...
Being young and foolish, taking too long to grow,
getting old comes too fast and time grows shorter in truth,
everything just sucks you well know
even children long to go back to school forsooth.

It sucks ...
The man up on the hill is such a fool
 never recognizing anyone else's need
it sucks that he isn't very well schooled
as American history is on its knees and bleeds,
