Christmas Memory

                                  From childhood memories I recollect
I opted for a bicycle as present.
                                            Dad told with little pause
                                           ‘Let it be Santa Claus.
He will bring your gift: A great grand event.

I got simultaneous jerk and shock.
‘How could Santa put cycle inside sock?
                                           Dad told ’Don’t worry,
                                           Nor to feel sorry.
Cycle to put beside sock by twelve O’clock.

Enjoyed Christmas Eve and happily slept.
Rejoiced to see cycle on day next.
                                      Christmas Carol sang.
                                      and the door- bell rang.
Someone gave bill of for payment.

I rushed to Dad ‘Santa has come in guise.
He claims money. Do you realise?’
                                  Dad was prompt to say
                                  ‘Later, Santa will surely pay.
                        Messenger has come to apologise.’

What Can I Do But Forget and Remember You

Recently I haven’t had my mind in the right set,
had no relief from the anger and grief,
a time to forget full of regret,
swept me down like the Barrier Reef.

It hurts not knowing where I belong,
let bygones be bygones but bygones bite on,
exerting and showing me I’m in the wrong,
but why would I try to supply hate all along.

You see I had a dream of white friends having a black baby,
it was meant to be black that’s how they’re born,
funny innocent confusion made the dream crazy,
they’re expecting so I didn’t tell them in the morn.

I told someone else, whom told them, making them mad,
they didn’t understand this stupid dream I'd had,
took it like I want their situation to turn bad,
and messaged my mum, telling her, I'd made them sad.

My mum not me, my friends they be,
told her, tell me, stop behaving horribly,
so I just went and deleted them all,
they’d speak to me if they were my friends after all.

My mum carried on messaging, I was accused of being a liar,
note, a week had gone by and it was out of mind,
they accused me of taking the piss and acting slyer,
but, I hadn’t thought of them, I did none of the kind.

And though I didn’t tell lies I did apologise,
I’ll make allowances cus she's pregnant, but she went to my mum.
I’m insulted and confused as to how I'm seen in their eyes,
so for now, I try to forget, but think, is this the final outcome?

Friends for years, close ones too,
like a family was our little crew,
I must be seen different by you,
now weeks later, we still haven’t spoke, so what can I do.

What can I do,
but,
forget and remember you.

A Short Apology To Soupers

I must take a little time here to say what I feel. I apologize to all soupers, for lowering the tone of your site, with my, so-called poetry. I have always tried to belong here but I have never felt that I do. I think on this often, wondering whether I should just go for good. I have a few ideas I would like to bring to fruition first. After I try out these ideas I shall see whether I leave or stay.

I thank the few friends I have, for sticking by me. I guess I am still feeling low. The apology is most sincerely given and I write once more, I apologise for lowering the tone of your site with my words.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Your friend....Mike.

I am the mirror

I am the mirror of truth
I am the reflection of accountability
That will show the shards of what is, not what's not

I will reflect their own darkness back at them
So they can feel an ounce of the pain we suffered through
To confront the truth of their own inferiority
And be trapped in a room full of their own insecurities
Instead of oppressing us with their problems

They will be trapped in their own hell
Tortured by their own hands
The same hands used to hurt us
The echoes of whips and gunshots deafening
A fate that was everlasting

If you think this is nasty
I couldn't care less
My sympathy has its limits
Especially when these are the type of people who kill black children
Who lie on black mens names and send them to prison
Who fake crimes just to hide incest
Then later say it was a lie without asking for forgiveness
But are still allowed freedom

I dont care about their feelings
Because what they did to my people
They deserve to burn in their evil
I will not apologise for how I defend my people
And if you disagree with mirrored justice
Then you are a problem

And no racism hasn't ended
And yes it's always about race
Because fundamentally our world was built on racism
At the expense of black peoples labour
Not willingly
But through forced enslavement

If you deny
I hope every night
You are haunted by the guilt of your ignorance
And everytime you close your eyes
You see the faces of the deaths you allowed
Because at the end of the day silence is complicity
And you are an accessory to murder

Premium Member -As I Lay Dying

I lay alone in this hospital bed dying
With not a soul by my side
Reflecting on the life l lead
Tears of regret and shame l have cried

I was not an easy man to live with
I always felt the need to be right
I would disagree and complain
About “nothing and everything” in sight

I should have listened to my wife feelings
Told her what was in my heart
How much l truly loved and needed her
Before our marriage fell apart

My family were my life
Yet l never told them so
Too stubborn, too selfish, too afraid
To tell them what they needed to know

So, I pushed them all away
Because l never took the time
To truly listen and understand
Reassure ,comfort them ….that all would be fine

I know now what l should have done differently
Starting by telling them “l love you” everyday
Accepted their differences and opinions
Honestly “hearing” what they had to say!

Said “sorry” when l should have
Been loving ,giving and kind
Told them their true worth and value
My real feelings in both heart and mind

Yet I never did that,
l kept my real feelings locked away
I am estranged from my family…. it’s too late for me now
As l lay dying ,sad and alone in this hospital bed today

So If l could give any advice to you as l leave this world
It would be “tell and show” the ones you love exactly how you feel
Do it today …..not tomorrow
It is never to late to apologise, reconcile, forgive and heal!

I guess I wrote an ode to the trees :o

I wonder how the trees feel when their leaves finally blow away,
Or when the baby birds nesting there grow old enough to give their mothers chase?
Sitting under her shade,
Do old trees feel pride when they’ve reached their resting age?
Patiently waiting paladins,
There’s thunder in my mind that contemplates,
Why is it that you can’t help but be selfless for all the rest of your days?
Maybe I could learn something from the trees as I hide from the Sun’s rays,
A slumber under your protection,
I wish I could thank you to your face.

I’m thankful for your creation,
I’m thankful you’ve never asked for your thanks.
I’m thankful for your patience,
I apologise for your brothers,
Memorialisised in the planks.
Tranquil,
I humbly offer libation.
I’m grateful for you,
Thanks.

Premium Member Angelic

And so it is, that both the Devil and the angelic Spirit present us with objects of desire to awaken our power of choice. There is an invisible strength within us; when it recognizes two opposing objects of desire, it grows stronger.
Rumi

Weeds persecute the gardens of my mind,
bad seeds are instigators for the unkind,
so, I plant vibrant petals for tomorrow,
did you know blossoms can feel sorrow?
I support them to bloom in delicate silence,
but strange paranoia is a relic of violence.
It hurts when withheld wounds are exposed,
life is better when I keep my eyes closed.
Should I apologise for my sullen demeanor,
so they can misjudge and become meaner?
I've become a misunderstood metaphor,
in a world of words not understood before.
I'm not an angelic devil nor a sinful saint,
but sense of shame is like polluted paint.
I'm tired from deadly brain sucking vampires,
draining my reservoir of peaceful empires.
Will it ever dawn upon the ignorant,
if I could turn back time it would be different.
In childhood we painted our faces on stars,
some looked for Venus, but I preferred Mars.
How we followed a colourful spectrum's shadow,
wondering if rain flows along the rainbow.
But in time imagination loses it's power,
we expire like dead seeds and forget to flower.
Is the pantomime of pain I've endured not plenty?
Can guilt bleed me dry, until all my sins empty?
Set me free from confines of jilted desire,
release me from burning in regret's bonfire.
Madness of my muse will never disown me.
In this hell I smile, as I still have my poetry.

The other side

I’m watching the light go dim
It’s sink or swim
I am sinking fast
And absolutely gassed

Struggling to keep my head above water
Feel like I’ve been put out to slaughter
Everyday is a challenge
To have a positivity scavenge

I do my best to support
Although I can be short
As I also am dying inside
From having happiness denied

This world is coming crash down
I am sinking until I drown
Watching my soul mate suffer
At the hands of another

Life has gone as I knew it
Now full of sacrifice and conflict
To give her what I can
Before it turns to a plan

I’m lost on what else I’m able to do
Feel as useful as a kangaroo
Jumping around to find what’s best
In order for her to be assessed

Suffering is truly real
It can be a terrible ordeal
Once disease has set in
She go so damn thin

It’s scary to see what this person has been through
It gives you a different world view
Kindness and respect bleeds from every pore
Where is was very limited before

My whole life revolves around this person
For she made me a better version
I wish I could repay by healing her body
Or have the power to embody

So much anger and frustration has built
If I could do more I would not have guilt
Cancer is a better alternative
Treatment is fast and compassionate

I see the determination in her eyes
To fight whatever may arise
The lights sometimes flicker
And I know she is sicker

There currently no control
Only opportunity to console
As the end is near
I live in turmoil and fear

One morning the lights maybe off
Gone without a cough
Medical intervention needs to be immediate
Find the missing ingredient

Life will be grim without my soulmate
Doctors are in control of my fate
The apologise for the delay
But nothing will change tomorrow or today

NHS you are a massive disappointment
I hold so much resentment
You are killing off two
Through your lack or care and short sighted view

I shouldn’t have to plan for an ending
Because you lack of care is unrelenting
Torture for the people who suffer through
Pray and hope for change but turn blue

A Million to One

A dozen rows of soldiers, friends, brothers, fathers, sons,
They dressed you up and sent you off, poised, positioned.
Everywhere you look, you gaze upon photocopies under one uniform:
Stripped of individuality

Welcome to the show,
here, we throw metal roses to the audience,
the corrupted sons of Eve, all dancing to percussion.
Backstage: the scent of death, blood and roasted almonds.
Final show, curtain closed

They wait for you, your memory fading, it's too late...

The petals of moonlight and shadows of dawn,
they started this mess, weapons drawn,
A dozen rows of soldiers, friends, brothers, fathers, sons
They slowly decreased:
A million,
two,
one...

Final bow, curtain close,
thank you for coming,
but where is the rose?
They performed well and i know you want more,
but i have to apologise
For there will be no encore...
