Leveraging Poems | Examples

Be Amongst Few

Mediocrity, Excellence two shores
Waves of Efforts connecting shores

Surf on tide, swim against flow of ocean
Be ashore leveraging art of propulsion

Mediocrity, a reality, almost repulsive
Excellence, a rarity, almost elusive

Race of Excellence, making man a rat
Each gnawing at other to breast the tape

Peaks exist because of bottom layers
Underneath layers vital for peak to be there

Peak below feet, mark of Excellence pursuit
Feet dragging at layers, a mediocre feat

Peak and layer, complementary pair
Live with conviction, dash of dare

Peak accommodates just few
If at layer, gear up, stir up, be amongst few

Sadness
Like a blanket of chains
Drags my soul through
The moaning minutes.

Drunken gorillas
Poke their greasy toes
Into my eyeballs
Leveraging my personalities.

Ebbing and flowing
Cries like a taxi
Running through the rain washed street
Of another anonymous rape or murder.

Can you see the me
The free me
The me of one thousand years
The me of one million years
With no makeup I walk
The gods of my mind talk
I finger my brain and its stalk
And generate a hug and a cough.

For John Hink

I left your stool in my kitchen corner where you sat, a crooked grin on your weathered face that had seen a hundred sunsets. Fields you tilled by horse-drawn plows now contracted to clusters of London Bespoke Suits leveraging corn oil markets.Patiently you'd appear before supper as I made my way through the pantry pulling canned goods I lovingly processed and freshies I gathered from neat rows in my garden. We ate in silence, knowing words had long-since lost their weight. Clouds drift over our final resting place now, our souls drifting peacefully along, only visiting in dreams.

Egyptian goddess
impetuous and pompous
Cleopatra’s conquests
at history’s bequests
wielded a propensity
for dramatic intensity

She snared the great Marc Antony
lured him into salacious surreality
of whirlwind amorous insanity
their thirst for world domination
stirred a most legendary seduction
concocted in the heat of passion

From a cesspool of politics leveraging
exponential cunning and beguiling
struggles in a dance of supremacy
conniving betrayals with godlike fury
their superpower alliance
met all-consuming defiance

Unequaled legendary games fanatical
proving most problematical
honor deceit and lies tragic
loyalties and turmoil climactic

In the end love a destructive factor
with more than one malefactor
hearts hopelessly infatuated
suddenly freed and elated
finally devoid of grief and strife
bound to reunite in afterlife

Love Letters

which words pried the sounds
the rusted hinges of doors long ago shut
then words gave voice to
stringed and percussion suited encouragements
that gave meaning with no translation
each word he spoke to hear her repeat him
those who could answer with rangey octaves sang
the songs which words had no meaning
gave way for a man to
do his thing

LEVERAGING A DIVERSITY OF LONELINESS
MIGHT WE COMMUNICATE SO THAT WE UNDERSTAND

Holy Water

Mitigating sins
leveraging countenance
in search of the morning kingdom
to see the sky to bow to the sun

Navigating
as the vortex
in between these eclipses
breezes briskly passing through the greens
the air is changing
into water
still flowing
runs deep

Wished that red river
within
is at peace
by green pulses
permeated through the bleached sunken glares
riding upon the bliss
of the blessings from forgotten harmony
and old memories
to strike a chord
with this moment

Of this throat
wet and airy
stuck with the lump
permanently fixed
with lips
uttering prayer
indefinitely

The Other Side of Me

You were the other side of me.
Like two rivers, joined up in a storm,
forging through our unknown landscapes
full of nature, but with purpose.
Learning, wandering and giving birth to new things.
Leveraging all that passed through our hands.

Until we became separated.
Hardship, mistakes divided our vast landscape
back into two, and we returned, to me and to you.
But we are still connected, I can see you
and you can see me, as part of everything that we do.
Forever and ever, our two rivers will run through…

Until we have travelled down to our next bend,
where we might flow back together again.
