Layers of meat and cheese,
Lined with flat, thin pasta,
Looking, smelling, tasting
Like it's heaven-sent, I
Love the savoury tang,
Letting the sauce and spice
Linger on my taste buds.

Lasagna Obession
Hear this one Magnificent Obsession
Garfield and I captives of an "OCD" dream
Savory lasagna - our confession -
A gooey, cheesy delicious extreme.

Layer and layers of pasta
On the bottom baking dish
Next is the ground beef
Then a layer of pasta
The layer of cheese
Another layer of beef
Followed another layer
of pasta
Then comes the cheese
Next green peppers
Then the pepperoni
Served with garlic bread
Mm-mm-mm- mm-mm

Today I will be as useless as the “g” in lasagna
Or even more than a “j” instead of a “w” in marijuana
Forgive my ignorance
I'm totally innocent
Growed up in the thirties when folks danced the samba

I am eating lasagna
In an unfinished room
By myself all alone
Music plays backwards
In the absence of moonlight
Middle of day
Somewhere else
I can't see the stars
And I think about Harry
Just ent'ring the bank
Overwhelmed
Excitedly taking it in
Thirty more minutes
Of ad-free music
And it's not so cold
Not in here
Not as cold as it is
Where I was
The walls are gray
And splotchy white
The lights
Out
Is the electricity
Back on?
Will I ski
On Wednesday?
Hans Castorp will
Breaking rules
It was just
A little anemia
He was only
A little anemic
Take me away
Take me to Der Zauerberg
Thin air
Away
Away
So far away
But they won't let me sleep
Verge of tears
But a smile spills out
It's a mess, I'm a mess
But I don't care to clean
So I'll call it art
I'm not painting pretty
Not anymore
I'm something else
A piece
Of abstract
Art

Its basic ingredients are noodles and cheese.
This dish has been around for centuries.
The origin of lasagna is a mystery.
Most culinary experts credit Italy.
In just about any region where you go,
each place has their own version to show.
It comes hot out of the oven covered with mozzarella.
Within the layers are meat and ricotta.
There are vegetarian versions as well.
For lunch or dinner, isn’t lasagna swell?

Yummy Lasagna
Sweet Italian sausage kissed by lean ground beef.
Crushed onions and garlic browned in olive oil.
Seasoned by thyme, oregano, and fresh basil leaf.
Parsley, pepper, and sugar shimmers this lasagna treat.
Salt, tomato paste, fresh crushed tomatoes, and sauce,
Simmered all together upon the burning heat.
Luscious layered juices, seasonings, cheeses, and meat,
The sauce on the bottom, then, noodles, ricottas…repeat.
The festivity of flavors between and underneath,
Mozzarella cheese and parsley delights this tummy, treats.
Imbibe the blend of flavors on Deliciousness Street.
Yummy, gooey, and oozing my favorite lasagna feast.

In the world of pasta, there’s one that can’t be beat.
And it’s made with zesty sauce, cheeses, and with meat.
Put some water on the stove; get it nice and hot.
Add wide noodles, fluted-edged, to the boiling pot.
Meanwhile, simmer your meat sauce. Nothing’s better than
what you’re going to prepare, layered in a pan.
On the bottom goes the sauce, noodles over that.
Then the cheeses (I use three). Never scrimp on fat!
Mozzarella, even Cheddar - what a cheesy mix.
No Ricotta? Cottage cheese can be an easy fix!
Layer noodles, sauce and cheese; Parmesan on top.
Then dig in; but once you do, it’s real hard to stop!

I rarely follow any traditional rules
when it comes to culinary delights;
everyone should try my tasty lasagna,
which I surely learned from Mamma.
I cook the noodles for five minutes, 'till they are al dente, which means crunchy,
then I spread Barilla sauce in the baking pan generously,
lay the first set of noodles topped with blended ground beef and ricotta cheese;
then another layer of noodles and sauce and so on...
until I reach the last one, which I abundantly top
with fresh slices of mozzarella,
and let it bake for an hour on 300 degrees...
now who wants to taste my lasagna?

Today was the fateful day
When I took out the tray
Filled with lasagna sheets
For my mom’s birthday treat
My mouth started watering
On seeing the gravy simmering
The delicate sheets I laid
Trimming them with a blade
And filled them with gravy
To make a dish so groovy
My mom tasted with delight
Said it was the best in every bite

She plunks down a plate of egg rolls
Man, oh man, do these greasy pieces of heaven take tolls
On my heart, dear Mama
Shows me love with food piled on tables that never end
Iced tea, Pho, spaghetti, rice and pork chops
Sternly setting bowls down in front of you and encouragin’
To take pieces of buttery garlic bread and mop it up
Love, bestowed upon us in showers of peppered chicken
Spending hours in the kitchen
To prove some affection
In saucers of soy sauce and dumplings that went on for miles
She’d put adoration in soup, spicy reflections
Of passionate motherly love
Mama, she never smiled
Unless someone complimented her style, the swagger
Of her intimate cooking skills, the way she swung her dagger
Of specialties, killing hunger, cravings
All her meals ending with ravings
Of the best kind
Scraped knees and broken hearts are cured with warm chocolate cake, suede
Smooth, mending them better then when they were made
Mama shows fondness through ice cream and steak
Warm dinner plates
Her “I Love You” was a big portion of lasagna
Nobody says “I Love You” better then my Mama

Our mother made lasagna,
And then she went away.
She gave us full instructions.
We're left to find our way.
She wrote her notes on baggies,
Of prefabricated meals.
And put them in the freezer,
Under airlock seals.
We tried to follow closely,
All her helpful notes.
The meal looked very tasty,
Until it reached our throats.
The flour I mixed with water,
And dumped into the stew.
But it made it rather gummy,
And very hard to chew
This is not a great beginning.
The future looks real bleak.
We're growing very hungry.
But we've got another week!
