That's Lasagna

In the world of pasta, there’s one that can’t be beat.
And it’s made with zesty sauce, cheeses, and with meat.

Put some water on the stove; get it nice and hot.
Add wide noodles, fluted-edged, to the boiling pot.

Meanwhile, simmer your meat sauce. Nothing’s better than
what you’re going to prepare, layered in a pan.

On the bottom goes the sauce, noodles over that.
Then the cheeses (I use three). Never scrimp on fat!

Mozzarella, even Cheddar - what a cheesy mix.
No Ricotta? Cottage cheese can be an easy fix!

Layer noodles, sauce and cheese; Parmesan on top.
Then dig in; but once you do, it’s real hard to stop!

I love lasagna and will often order it when we go out to eat. I make it and do not like Ricotta but will make it with cottage cheese. Kids don't like either of the above cheeses so it is mozza and parmesan . love phyl

Of the rules mentioned in the poem, there are only a few with which I disagree. I can't afford to pay for government health insurance and though I've always paid my taxes, I don't often like the way they are spent (abuses by government officials chartering private aircraft comes to mind). I do understand the need to conserve water during droughts; just hate seeing flowers suffer and die. And please take the crying babies out of theaters!! Love, Carolyn

You did a great job on this poem even though you are a spaghetti lover Andrea. I loved the way you rhymed your recipe into a poem. Very clever and I am sure this will score. Love, Connie

The cheese may be fattening, Andrea, but it's what makes the lasagna so hard to resist. And you're right about how hard it is not to indulge and eat more than you need. So delicious! Enjoyed your poem, dear, and wish you success in the contest. Love, Carolyn
