How long dwell on should I

On fruitless life how long dwell on should I?
On needless strife how long dwell on should I?

Let me salute my foe’s fairest friendship,
On faults and gripe how long dwell on should I?

That far off dweller we fail to follow,
His irks so rife-- how long dwell on should I?

On her dreams to flower that have faded--
On bud not ripe how long dwell on should I?

Despite my lifelong love who twirls her face,
On such a wife how long dwell on should I?

Brave your own battle, O Draupadi - 3

Take to arms, who will come ye to save?
What hope from face-less faces ye have?
Never plead, nor for them ever rave,
From shameless what succour can ye crave?
Take to arms, none will come ye to save.

Poet’s note: This is third in the three-piece series on the theme. The incidence is taken from Mahabharata during Draupadi’s vastra-haran, disrobing. All the elderly so-called keepers of dharma keep quiet in the name of righteous action under the circumstances. The original in Gujarati as transliterated (in PS-acceptable way) is as under:

Suno Daraupadi, shastra uthaalo, ab naa Givind aayenge,
Kab tak aas lagaaohi tum bike hue akhabaaro se,
Kaisee rakshaa maang rahi ho Duhshaasaan darbaaro se?
Svayam jo lajjaa heen pade hai vo kyaa laaj bachaayenge!
Suno Daraupadi, shastra uthaalo, ab naa Givind aayenge.
                                                          - Pushyamitra Upadhyay

Befikari

Ye zindagi bhi bekhauf si thi,
Befikr har lamha tha
Na ranjish ka ilm
Na justaju ka zikr
Har khata mukarrar thi
Na koi tasauf,
Na haar jeet ka fikr
Har hasrat mukamal thi
Ye befikri us cigar ki dhuye si kahin kho si gyi,
Jis pal ye befikr nafs begairat ban gyi.
Waqt ki chahat me ye befikr nafs bhi zinda lash ban gyi.

Peaces

Sone ka too qatara dhoondhe
Kab tab usako chalaega
Pahaad khodakar jeene vaala
Khud Heera ban jaayega

Dariya kee apanee pahachaan
Ek boond se banata jahaan
Sooraj kee roshanee paakar
Chaand kitana jagamagaega

Sone ka too qatara dhoondhe
Kab tab usako chalaega

Tip Top Gentleman

Tip Top Gentleman

Eve of drama fun of mine
Laugh of fragrance smash
Of tomatoes in a glass of ....

Candy spices of horizon change
orange to white casu
Nuts

In a shadow night my heart is
Calling you loandiyo Kab tak
goom naam basti Mai diya jalogi

Today or tomorrow like the seconds past while even passing on writing this my feelings are crazy for your
Beauty of eyes which
Stares at me on the screen

Shall you like to teach
Tip Top Gentleman
How to tease while
I dance in our memories
You're so far like you're
As near as i....... Love you

Vo Thandi Hawa

Vo thandi sarsarati hawa
Mujhe kuch keh ke chali gayi
Ranj-o-gam ki syahi me lipti
Kuch panne zindagi ke bhar gayi

Panne jab palat ke dekhe
To ek kahani simti dikhi
Na jane kab se dhool me padi thi
Kisi ke jeevan ki rubai mitati chali gayi

Kayi saal ho gaye uss sehar ko guzre hue
Ab to door tak vo hawa fir dikhti nahi
Meri zindagi ke vo panne jo usne bhare the
Unme jhakti meri rooh bhi marti rahi

Na jane vo hawa kya kehna chahti thi
Uski parchai bhi sirf yadon ko naseeb thi
Raton me bhi uska hi khayal ata he
Hum samajhte rahe aur vo udti chali gayi

Shab-E-Intezaar

Ghum-e-aarzoo dil se, kabhi to rukhsat hogi
Kabhi to sahar hoga, shab-e-intezaar guzaregi |

Palkon me jiske, simat ti ho ghataein
Saawan pe bhi uska hi, ikhtiyaar hoga |
Kab tak rahe viraan, dil-e-anjuman aakhir
Kabhi to bahar chupke se, is or bhi badhegi ||

Guzarte waqt ke saye, kuch bechainiyan hongi
Betaab dhadkano ko, mera intezaar hoga |
Kab tak khafaa rahegi, wo shokh nazar aakhir
Kabhi to dast-e-dil se, shabaa pyar ki uthegi ||

Is umeed par chale, har sham meri sansein
Kal ke ujale shaayad, milne ki ghadi hogi |
Andhere me ghira main, sochta hoon ye har waqt
Hogi raat ye badi, ya meri umra badi hogi ||

What the Carpet Knows

I see what's underneath ladies' skirts; their plump underpinnings and roundness.

I feel shoes scrape across my surface, the feel of a broom and the bold suck of a vacuum

Each piece of me becomes a bit tattered over the days and piece-worn over the years.

Those who made me wove in color and particles of their life; skin from their fingers linger.

The colors made them exclaim, "How bright the room looks. It's like a picture!"

I've felt writhing, passionate bodies roll onto me when there was no couch, and seen what others would not dare to think. If someone asked me, “Who?” I would lie.

I am filled with life, taken for granted and finally wadded up and thrown into a large trash bin

All my memories buried, gone. If they only knew.

But I'll I can do is lie.

Tanhaayi

Sulagti si tanhaayi
Rooh fir se Ghabraayi

Beete Hue Din
Fir Aankh Bhar Aayi

Khamosh Sa Dil
Kuch Na Kah Paayi

Mausam Sa Badan
Naa Jagi Na So Payi

Dheron Hain Iljaam
Kab Hogi ye Sunwaayi

Samandar Hain Magar
Maut Ne hi Pyaas Bhujaayi

Kaash Tu Hota
Ufff Mohabbat ki Gehraayi

Jab Teri Qabr Se Guzarta Hoon

Woh chale bhi gaye to kia hua
Mein unhein roz yaad karta hoon

Dil mein rehta he bus khayal unka
Un hee kee dhun mein jeeta marta hoon

Kon hoon mein? samajh na paya kabhi
Khoj mein kion Khuda kee
rehta hoon?

Loag kuch aur hee samajhte hein
Soach per unki aahein bharta hoon.

Sochta hoon ke mein bhi mar jata
Jab teri qabr se guzarta hoon

Teri ruswaee ka he khauf
mujhe
Warna mein kab kisi se darta hoon?
