Premium MemberOh I, No Eye, I Oh!

Now this indeed
is what we need,
for AI on IO told us so.
A Pendant around the neck
for which we will
dependent be.
Blind to eye,
anticipating,
but aiding,
watching,
assisting,
listening,
hearing,
feeling,
for me,
to be.

Strange dream

In the middle of the night,
 I got up thirsty.
And I went to the kitchen
To drink a glass of water;

Iit was 2 o'clock
And everybody was sleeping,
But the television was on;

I got surprised;
I remembered very well
 I had turned it off before;

As I headed towards it
To turn it off
I saw it was not playing a regular program;

It had a snapshot of a photo
And played it on;
 There were black letters
On a white background;

This is what it wrote:
«I hate you!»
«I want to see you weak and brittle!»
«I want to see you crawl!»

Io instead of turning it off,
 I grabbed it and threw it from the fifth floor;

Premium MemberProtagonist of George Harrison

Written: May 5th, 2025, for contest by Brian Strand

Painting by Peter Doig. A concise abstract on Abbey Road and its pivotal moment. He subsequently produced outstanding music. His music resembled pleasant dew cascading as melodic notes, like honey smeared on leavened bread.

          ******************
George Harrison

moving toward a liquid abyss
after Abbey Road--
where no sunlight can seep into the hall
surrounding the mirrored pool
he draws the guitar strings
with notched arrows
tipped in flint
striking sparks
like match heads ignited
on concrete sidewalks
during the golden hour
heavy with humid
condensation
coating every surface
with sweet dew
musical notes drip down
like honey spread
on warm yeasty bread

Issue, Iridescence

Issue, O Iridescence!
Luminesce on the sly.
Pore over, phosphorescence?
Oh yes, and here is why!

Students of the nebula!
Empire has its cost!
Best to keep it regular?
That or deal of Faust!

Sauced, are ye, wild warriors?
Well, at times it's best.
Lost and sinking? Sail azures!
Tours and boors need rest.

Zest, O mighty zephyr!
Boreal pole, hear all!
Have you seen the lost heifer?
My! Io, give a call...

Fall, when winter, taciturn;
Sends the snow and ice;
Sullen, silent, spares to spurn;
Miracled device;

What will avail travelers?
High road, one with us?
Gods of death, synthetic furs?
Bile and blunderbuss!

Muss on heads of wearied folk?
That is not good news.
O for eggs with scrambled yolk!
Doom, Death, disabuse...

Channeled communications?
Be sure to precise read.
Otherwise re-educations!
Draw bead, O my greed!

Weed atop the giant's mound?
Zero Lost and Found?
O ye serpents, hissing sound?
Next below the ground...

Warning? Dark fire, warming?
O locusts on the air:
Sudden is thy swarming?
Life, ladies, is not fair...

Overwhelmed Avalanches of Doubt

So many ways to say one thing
More than one way to turn pawn to king
Too many turns to the grocery store
Which turn shall I take?

Countless words to choose from
From sunrise to sunset
Too many ends to be met
With no end

So many ways to say one thing

How will I say this?

The paralysis of perfection pours
A whisper at first
Drown out by the delusion of desirability
Preserved in acid proclamations of praise
Beating echoes in snowy peaks
Peaking in phrases veiled in value
Pouring
Heavy
 Heavy
  Heavy
On the mountaintop
  Failure
 Failure
Failure
One weakened layer causing seismic shifts
Elephant echoes fragmenting snowy ideals
Triggering avalanches of lost identity
Slabs of fallen promises break loose
Forming a track of forbidden truth
Too much weight bids perilous
Useless words of compliment
Descend to a suffocating
Ignominious demise
Plagued by tiny
Thoughts of
Fading

Premium MemberSong of The Peacock Butterfly No 6: AABB

Assures their breed a place among unknowns,
lest Europe and Asia part of their realms.
Peacock Butterfly, hues-full Inachis,
their uppermost topsides reveal truth bids,
yet undersides are black-like camouflage,
predators amiss, perplexed by mirage,
afears further by fake four eyes on wings,
and hissing sounds. The flower's nectar brings
life spans. They're killed whilst hibernating by
wood mice, and birds like Tit birds when they fly.
Folklore's namesake, Hera's Priestess Io,
eyed by Zeus, held by Hera as a cow.
A year's crawl and sleep, another takes flight,
climbing ivy draws and flowers, delight.

Paint the Sky with Stars
                                            9/26/2023

Oh, my! How does our beloved God do all this?
It keeps this poetess to be grateful and humble.
Creating for us a stunning sky of atmospheric bliss?
And io live in soulful peace and stop all the grumble.

To fly through life with sparkling, stained glass wings.
To be able to sing the song of the oceanic seas.
Stop any and all pretenses that I know everything.
And to realize, the world was made for you and me!

Let the dove of peace in me, be ashine in poetry.
Then, in serenity, a deep breath, like angels wings.
For this, God, I do need your endless, loving company.
Perhaps I made another soul lighter and able to sing!

Premium MemberOh-----Io

The crick of crickets
Sounds of late summer swan songs
Lightening bugs---------lights out
Clear cloudy skies, cool front nights
Windows open, Fall sensations waking
Seasonal transitions nearby
Mother Nature announces her why
Causal changes on the way
Cryptic storms before the calm
Bely our human hearts alarm
Can we make the supreme amends
Needed to become universal friends
Keping all from needless, useless, endless harm.

Premium MemberAmami Ora O Mai Piu

Amami ora mentre
Posso ricambiare il tuo amore
Amami ora quando, a mio agio
Posso accendere e spegnere il fuoco della lanterna
Amami ora mentre, di nuovo
Posso espirare, inspirare e respirare facilmente
Amami ora mentre

Premium MemberA Day With a Photo Camera

So glad you decided to come with me.
I brought my camera and we'll wonder
At the vistas that we would love to see.
A lovely, cloudless day with no thunder.
I knew exactly where the best shots be.

Plodding through virescent hills and hollows,
Below so many trees that form a groove
Careful where to tread, there were some fallows
Splendid shots I took so I'm sure I'll prove
For from an oak, flew so many swallows.

My camera worked: an eagle soared high,
Surveying the artistic span below,
A rill twisting its way, blue as the sky
Flowers abounded, sweet fragrance they blew,
Tired we needed rest, food to fortify.

An inn nearby provided us with food,
Scrambled eggs, hot sausages, tea, and toast.
It had been a wonderful interlude
But my love was the happiest the most.
We went back home, in good humorous mood.

Premium MemberIo

Four moons orbiting Jupiter were discovered by Galileo.
He named them Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, and Io.
Several unmanned space probes were sent there recently.
They revealed things no earth-bound sky watcher could see.
Of special interest was the Jovian moon Io.
This body has many an active volcano.
Io is literally turning itself inside-out.
This makes the moon the most fascinating without a doubt.

Premium MemberJim and His War Bride

Jim brought his war bride home from World War Two.
They were happy with each other, their feuds were few.
They had three daughters by nineteen fifty-two.
Two had eyes of brown, youngest had eyes of blue.

They settled in the US State of I.O. Way.
Their accomplished daughters live there still today.
A nurse, a doctor, and a designer with sway.
They worked harder than they could ever play.

Mom and dad worked together, one told me.
We learned from them that freedom is not free.
God and country first, then you can have some glee.
Two kids who met each other, across a deep blue sea.

Raised the most wonderful daughters, who know how to work.
They have a work ethic unknown to many who shirk.
Tolerance is important, a blending of countries sound as pitter pat.
They would have existed if their parents had not realized that.
