Inconvenient Poems

Premium MemberThe inconvenient truth

Stupor of blind belief has caged soul in mind,
bemused by illusions, all self-created,
making us flounder about, as do the blind,
hypnotised by scriptures, fully sedated.
God is packaged in all colours and sizes
but know only the pure heart realises,
who in truth God is, as dweller of our heart,
who when He leaves, our life force too will depart.

“The rabbit hole of lust, is subtle and deep ~
Be watchful if we’d take a consciousness leap”
~ quote by poet

As we pick up our pen and begin to write,
conceding this too is a habit routine,
we console ourself that it is quite alright
and this is an addiction we need not wean
but when soul’s musings fall from their lofty height,
the truth of our bondage we begin to glean,
as we pray to God, asking Him to restore,
rhythm that delights heart, begging for an encore.

God’s vital life breath that keeps us alive,
enlivens form, which although is but dust,
forms an ego, which then begins to thrive,
feeding on lust, choosing actions unjust.

The only way out is thought cessation,
which amounts to relinquishing desire,
paving way for the realisation
of the light of Self, for which monks aspire.

Although this truth is quite easy to see,
being unsure, we’re afraid to let go,
so remain in bondage to our mind tree,
trauma bonding forever with ego.

To reclaim soul’s light, silence thought flow din ~
God dwells within our heart, go in, go in

Pro-Palestinians shout
     What about?
   "How can you support
     Gaza's occupier?"

   Those who shout
     are rather dumb louts
   Gaza's occupier since 2007
     is (surprise!) ~ Hamas!

   Israel withdrew in 2005
     eighteen years ago
Ever since then Gaza has been
     100 percent Palestinian

The day I fell off a chair and damaged my leg
I was amazed, for I had been resilient before
It took me a long time to heal my torn meniscus
I had bruised the bone too
I went from a wheelchair to a walker

Your damage might have been caused by your age
The workman comp doctor said
So they refused to fix it
Saying it would heal itself
It might have if I had been younger
But I wasn’t

Then my eyes went
I found myself holding the paper out
A tiny bit further each day
I started out with one point five readers
Now I am up to point three point five readers.
There are spots on my hands now, I feel like an old leopard

I began to fall apart at age fifty-five
Before that birthday, I felt young and exuberant
My enthusiasm has waned a bit
Thanks to arthritis in both ankles
Which means sometimes when I take a step
it feels like I have broken both ankles
Old age is ridiculously inconvenient

Behind the masks
We are safe
From epidemics
Behind the masks
Thieves and robbers
Being not recognised
Are safe too
Behind the masks
Voices become indistinct
Dining becomes inconvenient
Smiling hidden
Anger has no vent
Sorrow and despair overlooked
Beauty not appreciated
Behind the masks
Just like the politicians and cheaters
Never show their real faces
But don't worry
God always read your hearts
But not your faces

It May Be Inconvenient

It may be inconvenient,
But the price of convenience could be the rain turning into a torrent.

It may be inconvenient,
But the price of convenience could see most living in a tent.

It may be inconvenient,
But the price of convenience could be to your children abhorrent.

It may be inconvenient,
But the price of convenience could be an earth shattering event.

It may be inconvenient,
But the price of convenience could cause widespread malcontent.

It may be inconvenient,
But the price of convenience may not be heaven sent.

Al created the algorithm
One late night as Tipper danced with him
The thought came by chance
As they freestyle danced
Initially dubbed "Al Gore Rhythm!"

Self confident
I would feel inconvenient
to be dead,

Yet relieved in freedom
from trimming toe
and finger nails
and receding hair
advancing down wrinkling neck
and softing shoulders.

Although not confident
I could grow
satisfied with fictional fame,
self-grandiosing glory,
I remain curious
how timelessly satisfying might emerge
historically famous fictions,
glories of grandly granted otherwise.

Confiding ancient secrets,
I could feel confluent
intuiting alive
resilience in freedom to survive
culture's soft-spoken rhyming terror
flirting with authenticity
of memory's patterned identity
and difference,
identically coincident.

Faith
masquerading hope,
Light
fading dual-dark air without
within

True life
camouflaging trust's pervasive love
Confident
I would feel false
to grow prematurely dead.

An Inconvenient Heatwave

Getting broiled in the daytime
And slow-cooked at night,
Could it be that
Al Gore was right?

Inconvenient Guts

Behind my back they whisper
I no longer matter
As my fortunes fail to prosper
While my hope prospects scatter

Clothes I wear they claim don't fit
While soles of my shoes and heel bend
Shirt sleeves tear and quit
Manners and thought patterns send

The wrong signal to friends who for me pray
Day and night despite disliking the guts
That they claim go astray
Driving them nuts

Besides spoiling the fun
They derive from painting me blue
In March, April, May and June
While they argue their assessment rings true

When they suppress my freedom
Wondering what I see in Irene
Who goes out of her way to slay boredom
To make my life both supple and serene

Although I don’t care what they think
Leaving me bold and defiant
Whether their glasses clink or wink
As I persist in refusing to become pliant.

Inconvenient Cause

Waking up another day

wondering should I

give my life away

I tried to take mine

it didn’t work easily

I guess for the others

the decision was free

and when your days get cold

only a few friends roll

so real life ain’t no drama

with some distant applause

its an inconvenient cause

I don’t have a lot use of my legs

I have a dream

I have the brain

and it just have to maintain !

An Inconvenient Truth About Christmas

An Inconvenient Truth About Christmas

By Elton Camp

It’s a season of excess, lies, drinking and greed
Many celebrators spend far more than they need

That Christmas honors Jesus simply is not true
It is falsehoods about Santa that people spew

Besides, Jesus Christ is now a heavenly king
At best, an image of a tiny babe it does bring

Christmas is a holiday that’s pagan to its core
Growing numbers refuse to do it anymore

Gifts should be given freely when you want to
Not when greedy custom demands that you do

Drunken Christmas parties can bring much grief
Observing it no more will bring one great relief

A major problem that creates anxiety and fear
Folks run up debt that they must pay on all year

So your pocket won’t be empty come Xmas eve
Give this commercial holiday a big, strong heave
