Inclination Poems | Examples

Inclination Combed Your Eyes

where you must float around me
a snapped stone melted into
that bottom of water glass
beside myself, drift currents

it shattered up to sunrise
and rippled through my shirt for
my heart with blue lows drawing
from sea with her fingerprints

a million shores leading out
the more you ebb than ~our ebb~
we feel a thousand lifetimes
same reflections in our gills

Premium Member Our Natural Inclination

Our natural inclination is to achieve balance,
Like on the teeter-totter, seesaw, or balance beam
So difficult in life, like standing on the point of a lance.

Life can sometimes remind us of a humorous meme;
Other times we are torn by suffering and strife,
Almost as though fate, fortune or the gods may deem.

Such are the stark vicissitudes of the commonplace life
We are constantly buffeted about by storm and fear,
When we are out-of-balance, on the edge of the knife,

It behooves us to remember that God is very near,
That we are never alone through the good and bad
And, we must never be reluctant to shift our gear.

Premium Member If I Have the Time and Inclination

If I have the time I’ll cook your beef,
Clean your kitchen, fix you a pie.
Sit and listen, sigh and cry.
Be your best friend, to both our relief.

If I have the inclination I’ll be there.
To mend your argyle socks and sweep your floor.
Things will be lovelier than ever before.
We’ll be married this time, and you will care

If I have the money, I’ll travel by plane
All dolled up, I’ll surprise you with my pretty
Well laugh and smile and be insanely witty
What am I saying? I’m being inane

You were the one who left me, Mr. Wow.
Broke my heart, shamed me incredibly sadly.
Without any guilt, made me feel badly.
I’ll not be back, ever, I’m smarter now.

Premium Member Intimate Inclination

Intimate Inclination?

Is there something you crave more than intimate love,
Does it possibly occupy space of its own?
Could a man be deserving, your hand mate to glove?
Or are you more a serf, prone in front of a throne?

Is it foolishness dreaming that such love exists?
I think so (if our will): if God's Love then His gift!
Is it err to presume too, that such love persists,
You have earned sin's forgiveness, and you won't get stiffed?

Can just faith be sufficient? What sources this aid?
For we're on a cliff's edge with no rescue in sight?
And with debts too egregious to ever be paid.
Clear that death is our future, known fact of our plight!

I'd say justice too's something we long for although,
It's desired more when hurting and not when we win,
But our losses can humble us, stretch what we know,
It seems winning does little to free us from sin!

When you pray that your life gets protected from pain,
Is it ego that says? "Trust me, Lord, You're the ONE!"
Is the Truth what you're after or what YOU think's gain?
LOVE once prayed, "Not my will Lord, but Thy will be done!"

Premium Member The Inclination of Glass Cannons

Shuttling beyond the lay
Of the land that may
End at the water,
Splash and fish, tide and otter.

War birds knocking stars from Heaven,
Wolf packs moving, six or seven
Or eight, the modern metabolic rate,
Society redeems the weight of hate.

Reversions to no merry mean,
We wash to make the world unclean,
We wash to upraise our station,
We wash to conclude causation.

Taking my place within the past,
An epic form of gratification,
I won't outlast, the die is cast,
So let's get on with vilification.

Bright sunny days, untrammeled ways or
Other poets' words so light,
Yet I shift and stray, I make the play for
The coming armies of the night.

Inclination

Twinkle twinkle little star
As I look beyond
The meaning of love
To perceive the essence of my lover.
That is his true colors.

Twinkle twinkle little star
As I ponder about my love
Is he true to who we are?
That is significant to each other.

Many times I am in doubt.
Now it is time for me to decide
How much I love him.
Is it just an intimate relationship or a long-term engagement?
What are the discrepancies?

Twinkle twinkle little star
As I look beyond
The meaning of love
To perceive the quintessence of my paramour.
That is insignias.

Love and Inclination

Everything I do is a nag, a drag
Something you wish
I never said

Now I lie here,
Crazy with it all stuck
In my head

What was spoken
Again and again, was necessary
And if you hate me now
Maybe you will love me in the next life

We're too busy, we're too busy
Between us we're too busy
Times twice

But if there was ever a moment
We could steal to reconcile, I may
Be open to consider

All things bitter, all things sweet
To end with uttering the words
We dare not speak
"I'm sorry"

If so I hope we mean them truly
No more fooling around
With time we cannot make for us

Life is passing us by and by
And to my love I ask,
How do you reply?

Premium Member Obsessive Inclination

You are an addiction
A drug to my heart
Poison to my soul
The forbidden edge

Craving your touch
Unable to erase your image
Hearing your voice in my sleep
Aroused to a pitch, soaked in sweat

You have another; I have mine
Wanting too much; taking too little
Dancing around the chemistry
Refusing the forbidden fruit

Leave my soul intact
My heart untainted
I cannot survive the high
The crash will cost too much
