Moto Guzzi Outside the Tate

Moto Guzzi outside the Tate
Oh glistening awesome motor stallion
your dovetailed bars, the windscreen’s sheen
you are indeed a work of art
each time I mount your leather saddle
your growling maelstrom comes to meet
your parody of love and travel
lest not to trust the judge’s gavel
thus speed the seed the heavens open
red as lust and sunshine clear
shine the night the organ’s treble
ring the changes speedy devil
stills God’s palate, rest the roar

It's My Birthday For Debbie Guzzi

Early this Morning, I was sleeping in my bed.
I heard a noise outside my window. I got out
of bed half asleep, I walked to the window and
looked outside. I saw a lot of little birds flying and
carrying on.

They soon seperated in bunches - as if they were
having a meeting. Then they grouped all together.
They were making a lot of noise. One of them came
to the window.

I asked him - what was going on. He answered -
don't you know? Today is Debbie's Birthday and we
have to celebrate. I won't tell you how old she is, but
today, she becomes wiser.

The Angels in heaven are very happy and her family is
too- that she made it to this day. We all hope and pray
that she will always be as sweet and beautiful as she
is today.

The little birds left flying and they went to spread the
news - that today is your Birthday and we have to celebrate.
Happy Birthday Debbie...

Debbie Guzzi - a Rejoinder

Great mentor, of my virtual paradise
Half muse, half woman
Yet between the spirit and the flesh
Still of all compassion full
Do you still come to read and stretch your time
In full ease with discomforts woven for my bed?
And would tell me still
Your love within a prayer I may clasp
While words churn me like a sugar mill?
I read your siren's serenade:
"Rise and grasp the thing you long for,
Know better than to let it swim by,
Court your dreams"
And thought rise I surely can
And grasping has no domain in vanity
But that thing I longed for
What form or figure or shape embraces it
What formula of flesh or frame of spirit
For I too have heard that El Dorado is real
And might have passed it in my zeal
Not ever having seen it before, nor knowing now
What shall I gain by its possession or how
It swims me by
An electron in the orbital of dreams
By some uncertainty's principle lost
And for this I pay one poem per cost
One bleeding heart
To ransome a universe of dreams.

Thank You, Ms Guzzi

Thank you dear / Debbie for / pointing out / my mistakes!
Now I can / see where I’ve / been getting / out of step.

“Statuesque” / was one of / my early / efforts and
Then I had / not learned the / rhythms of /poetry.

If I were / Writing it / now I’d be / tidier.
I’d know my / dactyls and / iambs and / … other stuff …

But since the / subject was / utterly / frivolous,
Frankly Ms. / Guzzi, I / don’t think I / give a damn!

.......................

I thought my original entry in Debbie’s meter contest was in
dactylic tetrameters.
Sadly it was not – but this one is!

For Deborah Guzzi (A Poet and a True Friend)

My mind like a hand turned up before the eye
Palm bare, empty as a desert air
Found no words, for every fresh brook was dry
And I was left brimmed with care

But then I read a love note to man in absence
Where the flowers bloom wild
And felt a sprout quicken on a dew of evidence
So with the drought I reconciled

And for your love I scrape the page with my pen
And tell my soul to wring a memory
And make love flock to you, my sister, friend
For every frfiendhsip tells a history.

Premium MemberRepeat Offender (A Gift For Ms. Guzzi)

I have a box with forgotten words
And punctuation seldom used
In this box are synonyms
And grammar I’ve abused

There are commas there and colons too
Apostrophes spilling out the top
But the one thing there that I’ve got most
Are unused periods to make a sentence stop

I have one friend this bugs the most
Says no periods make my poems fuzzy
So I’ve collected them all and present them now
To the wonderful Deborah Guzzi

Please feel free to apply them now
To my poems written in the past
I know it’s an offense I’m repeating again
But, I assure you this won’t be the last

Sometimes (Revised For Deborah Guzzi)

Sometimes all it takes is an ideal.
Something in my mind
spins the wheel.
Then words on paper
wait for more words.
Speaking with my mouth
more words to be heard.
Are they rhyming?
Are they absurd?
I bow my head
and to God I pray.
"What would you have me to say?"
I think of the humble,
those who have not.
I think of the government,
that does'nt do squat.
I think of the churchs,
who preach of goodness
but don't believe in miracles
as one of it's uses.
I think about the falseness
of fairy tales.
And how deep inside
we still believe them to be true.
And i think about tomarrow
what will it bring me and you.
Yesterday is gone
but it's has found a place in my mind.
On the paper I tell my memory
and it gets them every time.

No, but i know a Deborah Guzzi

All poetry she reads, she's not choosy

To Deborah Guzzi

No rolling stone
gathering moss, or playing records
only the halo of your light
i with needle gaze
fuming to penetrate
without a merlin stone.

I want to hear
to know
like a child in school
or boy's first throbbing
from a dance
more than surrounding thoughts
the who you are.

And yet like the Knight
before his head came off
in dungeon for gallant men
i stand before the frost
of window pane to write
hoping you will read
a poem
from the horizon

I dream of diamonds
in your head
fracturing light until it bleeds
rainbow
for a trembling child,
O one more story
without metaphors of you
and i will sleep
on all the beauty
from photons spiralling
beyond our eyes.
