What if one day the death comes knocking at my door uninvited,
What if it's my last day to see my loved smiling,
What will happen to the list of places I wrote, where I wanted to explore,
What will happen to my bucket list , the long drive midnight,
What will happen to my dreams , the hard work I've been doing,
To my favourite type of dress or the jewelry I wanted to purchase,
The love I've longed for, the light laughter , soft hugs and kisses I've been dreaming off,
The white gown on my weeding night and a gaze never leaving mine,
But I would still like to know where I'd be buried or the flowers i would receive,
How many would mourn and cry or how many would laugh at my sight,
How many curse and how many wouldn't come,
Isn't it a funny thought , my love?
I do want to see myself age, thick white strands and wrinkled hands ,
But I would still like to see if I'd smile or cry when the uninvited guest would arrive.
UNEXPECTED GUEST
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Though unexpected, he arrived,
a flash of color,
a feathery creature, divine.
I asked not for him,
this vibrant surprise,
dancing on the edges of my reality.
I asked not for him,
this vibrant surprise,
yet there he was, a living brushstroke.
I asked not for him,
this vibrant surprise,
nudging me to seek the unexpected.
I asked not for him,
this vibrant surprise,
expressing beauty in the mundane.
I asked him not to leave,
this vibrant surprise,
but he took flight,
leaving traces of magic in the air.
To what did I owe the pleasure
Of the visit of such a stature
As I am much of a lost
I've taken the liberty of the most
I have not one but many of a question
For what lingers in me is a wondering passion
And as I burn in the silence of the passing breeze
I echo the songs of the dancing leaves
So to what did I owe the pleasure
Of the visit of such an esteemed stature
For many has begged and cried for you
As many as the sweet morning dew
And has it not been sublime
You spoke not a word yet you brought the ripples of time
And as you have come as a wondering guest
I came to embrace the gift of such a bequest
January 29, 2025
i have lived in houses
that kept me,
but never held me.
i was a guest in my own life—
told to give,
but never to take.
told to understand,
but never to be understood.
told to forgive,
but never to ask why.
they built my life like a cage
and called it safety.
locked the doors
and named it protection.
when their choices
crushed my ribs,
they asked why i could not breathe.
one day,
i will build a home
where my dreams do not knock
before entering.
where i do not have to carve myself smaller
to fit inside.
one day,
i will belong
to no one but myself.
If the two of you agree
The self-invited guest is free
To enter into hearts
And a miracle starts!
Who is it; who is this One?
All strife and striving shun?
Our minds see the wisdom, truth and light
The request is made and it is right;
A deep desire and a plea
To forget the questions, the fear, to flee
Into the Eternal Arms
To rest from all alarms
Relief, peace and joy come too
As this self-invited guest comes to you
The Only True Love is There
Your burdens to bear
Eternal Creator God, Jesus His Son
Enter and all is One!
We arrived early at the Fairmile
We’re welcomed by Jason’s warm smile
He made a pot of tea
For my hubby and me
I’m happy we’re staying a while!
Our bedroom was spotlessly clean
And as for the breakfast cuisine
The huge choice was amazing
(Overnight oats I’m praising)
We feasted like a King and Queen!
The pre–order system is great
It ensured the food on our plate
Was ready on time
And it tasted divine
One downside I’ve put on some weight!!!!
For treats you need not travel far
The lounge has an honesty bar
Drinks and tasty snacks
Like yummy flapjacks
This guesthouse should rank a four star!
Hosts Jason and wife Melanie
In tandem, they work seamlessly
I can truly attest
They look after each guest
Shame Fairmile’s not closer to me!
There’s plenty more that I could say
But sadly I’ve not got all day
If it’s in your plans
To visit St Anne’s
The Fairmile’s the best place to stay!
you're featured in todays buffet.
are those Tiffany lamps?
the new neighbor asks me, staring at my stuff.
I have no idea, but I like them, I reply.
Were they expensive? She asks.
Rudest guest ever.
Two friends with haughty heads on long neck’s crest,
can’t enter nearby house through door for fest.
Dinner time of elation,
can’t control temptation,
sneak through window as uninvited guest.
He's an elder now so don't dare forget.
He has special needs and they need to be met..
Always been a hot boy so keep the thermostat down,
or he'll gulp too much water and in urine you'll drown..
Never was a barker but now lets you know.
Better pay attention or he'll just let it flow..
The laminated flooring makes his joints ouch and
his old bones can no longer reach the soft couch.
He needs carpeting or bedding to lie down and slouch..
Those short walks are great but his back legs go out.
Make sure it's flat surfaces with no hills to mount..
A breakfast and a dinner, let his nose lead the way,
and this 120 pd dog is happy and sleeps the rest of his day.
He is distinguished they said
And they were not wrong
But what is he doing up in the day?
Aren’t owls nocturnal?
Mr. O is not your ordinary fowl
We attended his lecture
He taught us about owls
Barn owls, gray owls,
He gave us a few hoots
It was the best university seminar ever
I never expected him to wear a tie!
I never expected him to wear a suit coat!
I never expected him to speak English.
K Know that there is a door that you can enter
N now I invite you to come in and stay a spell
O only thing I ask is reasonable I expect
C consider carefully that I need to know when you arrive so please
K knock before you enter.
Unwelcome Guests
(Arthritis, Bursitis, Tendonitis, Gout)
Miracle Man
10-11-2023
The “rItis” boys came to visit,
and their welcome overstayed.
My futile efforts to evict them,
they always downplayed.
Arth, Burs, and Tendon,
that very unpleasant three.
Were always reluctant to leave,
before the ravaging of me.
For pain I gave each points,
on occasion they brought a shout.
They all attacked my joints,
but none compared to Gout.
By his glad host loved more than the rest!
A guest himself tries to look his best:
In his host’s house free to wear his crest,
Host spending on him like on farm’s past…
No doubt to Guest: Host House a real nest:
Much like a suckling Host’s cares ‘A breast;
Fame one must have touched for ‘A Guest’
The wonders one had wrought in the East,
Some ‘can’t-forget’ one left in the West;
One’s brash conquest of unique test…
The hotels in towns declare one Guest,
Their suites ready where Sweet Guest may rest
But I guess this should be Business’ Test
While I could choose to act like a pest…
After service claim “Far from impressed”
And that next time charges shall be pressed!”
Oh, it is like any other night
Quite quietly still
Neither a stir nor a quiver
Neither a hush nor a shush
No stars, not even the moon
peeking through the dark quilt
of a shadowless night.
Yet my heart is pounding heartlessly
Yet my mind is meandering mindlessly.
It is about time to curl up and repose
let my soul slumber and debunk my ego,
But wonder why my spirit is so restive?
My emotions unruly,
Why this night is sabotaging my sleep?
Loneliness, like a black Mamba,
slithers over the white marble floor
of my bedroom and coils itself up
around my wayward thoughts,
It tightens its grip to exorcize the
dark demons dwelling within my soul…
Doorbell chimes,
Someone’s at the door!
