Good day Broadway
Welcome to New York City
The first time stepping out on the Great White Way Stage
The wonder, dream and anticipation
Nervousness throughout
A Dream Come True
The stage was set
Dazzle and Sizzle
Spotlight search
Front and Center
Music leveraged up
The view of the audience
A breakout in song with a cast in sing along
Then words of anguish and desperation
Emotions overflow
Living the dream of success
Talent being shown
Name on the marquee full blown
Tomorrow seen at that moment
Broadway that was the here and now
Eyes of entertainment
Appreciation in loud applause from the audience
The Bow in approval
The Thank you
Curtain comes down
The regards to Broadway
There once was a great white
Who was looking for a bite
And there was a seashore town
That had smiles instead of a frown
Preparing for a 100 year celebration
With wind surfing racing
It took a whole year of work
And the great white brought a knife and a fork
Towns people started to disappear
And there was something out to fear
Politician Wells who had money to spend
And put up a nice plan that would be strong enough to defend
Off the wind surfers did go
With the shark wanting to feed on the show
They got through the netting
then proceeded to do some upsetting
All this mess
Nearly made rich man Wells confess
But he never shook in his boots
Until his whirly bird went kapootz
With a television reporter getting out of hand
it was up to the author to take a stand
With Vic Morrow who was on loan or borrow
Played the Quint style for awhile
The writer ended up the Captain Brody fighter
As they went fishing with chum that they were dishing
The action in independent film was not missing
It all ended very fast with a nice blast
While the author threw the punch
Before taking his golden girl out to lunch
When you smile at me
It feels like the lights shining on Broadway
Yes, you make me feel like a star
in a hit performance
Your smile brings me more pleasure
Than an audience of a thousand people
clapping
Words fail me when I think of you
You are marvelous and sweet
Let's feel the love tonight
Once again - you make me feel
like the shining lights
On the Great White Way
when I see you smile
Honey Glaze Bun
A herd of hoof ran across her back
Her mind drifting into slumber
Her midnights rendezvous became dangerous acts
while the itinerant
Slept in every alley on Delaney Street
An exhausted prosecutor
Release her back to the cruelty of the dark street
Where broken lamps on
The Great White Way generates
Little or no heat
And the deafening sound of the siren
Kept her awake
.
Until the blonde blue eye stranger pulled up
In a dark limousine rolled down the window
And whispered
“Hello honey bun
Come on in
Your place or mine
Let’s be discreet.
Half a mile down the dark road
The hooded stranger
Poetry became a reality
An old Shakespearean
Surface
Let not my love be called idolatry,
