Missing the Cranes

You were sharp|ning grass
With your eyes | sit & fixed
Again | a substitute for mow|n
Machine chug|ging along lug
Nuts, molar friction | u - r - n .
Lawn stretches of up|beat
Beach | was there even wind?
Filet a cannonade me | see
The crayons fly | in a circle
A head | towards blu|er | stretches
There | where clouds resemble.
Light is a commodity, scream!

Silly | man | omnibus no teacher
Not even a man. Well still: Lorine
Niedecker e|merges like new
Breath, pulp come together
Mis|hearing cranes, a making
Multicolor wax, bending fuse
Forge |X| fissure for left foot |
Right foot,—we'll find a job a kind
Of game | it’s just planes turned
Paper crane | creosote guardians
A dead lean-to shouldering volts.

Short Sharp Sound

Happy natal day, Sister Ging,
The wind that blows is so gentle;
The birds in the air chirp and sing,
The short sharp sound they want to tell.

Premium MemberPlay Now, Play Again

Play* now with enthusiasm’s power
Lay yourself to morning exercise-leading
Aware of physical needs’ pampering action
Yearning for the adventure-peps of blissful youth.

Play still… though you’re in your prime
Learn new games midst grand kids’ laughter
Attempt to shake your body, and stretch again
Yell with exuberance: “Thank God, I still can… yes!”

Play today… visit the amusement park
Listen to giggles’ mirth of children you love
Acknowledge the Lord’s strength, graciously aging
Yield to play’s joy, overcoming demands of youngster years.

*2Samuel 10:12 Be of good courage, and let us play… and the LORD do that which seemeth him good.

Graveyard Dream

Natty disasters sitting in boneyard wing
Hidden rolling shadows re-occurring
Tumbles the rain that rapture bring
All sodden on Golgotha fog·ging

Utterly murky shadows about
Dank teeth beyond the tomb square
The blindness of the swollen moon thereabout
Lightning strike, bitter air scare

The sky cracks as if slashed by a knife
Somewhere in yonder thunder blast wave
Sneak trees creak into the air life
Sinister and frosty on the grave

Spread quaking fears under midnight stroke
Dull spirits near shadowy flagstones
Grasping dark devils amongst the cloud choke
A poet's life, a written dream captured around ghostly tombstones

Bridge On Rome

Where I grew
I felt a cert
that with hair so "ging-eh"
Touch would be revulsion.

So at pitch black 1
when they'd hassled me "You're late"
and the lift was blown off for bad behaviour.
The quick footsteps
grabs, snares, gropes, sniffs and stalks-
I walked alongside secure.
Would they dare touch a ging?

Not even in the narrow
scraps or runs
did I choose the safe option.
Poison of the tongues
that acidly tortured my days,
fell my safety to the night.

...and yet I thought I was a bad runner too,
but sufficient it seems.

So when there's a void,
perhaps it is your glaring eyes to blame,
as it was your lips who taught
the voices that shed the light
away from the bridges
of the estates.

...and spent my luck too early
