It's always at dawn
It's always in the shadows
That the criminals rob
The innocent as well as the guilty
It's deep in the dark night
That we forget on the table
The suppers of the werewolves in disguise
And the unarmed gendarmes
For the carnival, for the feast
When blood turns to wine
Where we imitate the wedding feast of Canaan
Oh! Poor, we see the wicked pass by
And the assassins under the bridges
Who flee and flow like rascals
Oh! Poor, he's dead
The dead, are they always wrong
At dawn?
What a disgrace
For the month of October
Oh! Tis the season when we change our robe
Oh! Poor, he's dead
The dead, are they always wrong?

Bill Haley sang Rock Around The Clock
In gay abandon back and forth kids did rock
Some lost their composure
Showed too much exposure

Christmas reaches for my very soul
With long and red and green desiring arms,
It cries, in the silent night of my savior’s love,
Before His last gift of fulfilled Psalms.
Christmas music rings down the highways,
Melodic, under a glorious moon,
And I treasure its daily company
Taking its joy from earth too soon.
Christmas, yes, symphonic, bold, and yet
Holding our Lord softly in its arms,
While stars stay circling December,
Inspiring hope to us and love to gendarmes.

She'd sharpened her arrows, desired his name
L'affaire, hush-hush, with the Prince of Tibet
This lady of France, whose heart was aflame
She was, as you've guessed, no regular dame
She drew her bow tight; the Prince she would get
She'd sharpened her arrows, desired his name
His jaw, chiseled stone, a challenge to tame
She dared to dream that she'd join his jet-set
This lady of France, whose heart was aflame
She flew to his palace, its entrance gold-framed
Those sounds in her ear -- Ought she to fret?
She'd sharpened her arrows, desired his name
Alarms screamed all about; this was no game
Comprehending the threat, her skin all a-sweat
This lady of France, whose heart was aflame
Gendarmes forced her inside; her pleas, so lame
L'affaire was now up; she'd placed a bad bet
She'd sharpened her arrows, desired his name
This lady of France, whose heart was aflame

She eyed him toiling 'round the palace grounds
He glanced at her, the pace slowed down at times
They knew the love they felt was out of bounds
They even might be hung for such a crime
No matter how denied, their love burned bright
They made a sacred vow to see it through
Despite the rules and laws, their love felt right
The flame inside them danced to life renewed
'Twas at the height of fiery passion pure
Her father heard of what his daughter'd done
He grew to hate this common worker sure
Who'd come to mock his daughter and make fun
The standard way to end these kinds of tales

En Pigalle, Mme. Paradigm
Claims lust is a blessing sublime
To have it your way
Squat on her bidet
And get home to your spouse on time!
Les Gendarmes say, "'Tis a crime
For Madame is well passed her prime,"
To spend one's treasure
On one moment's pleasure
Defies all reason and rhyme!

A young lady from old Bordeaux,
Was drinking wine with great gusto,
She was at a wine fair
When the police stopped her there,
The breathalyzer blew up with one blow.
The gendarmes wouldn't let her walk home,
So she called a soldier friend on the phone,
He arrived in a tank
As drunk as a skank,
Now they both sit in the cells all alone.

(Dedicated to all Refugees, the world
over)
Here we are
Soaked in hunger
Dressed in thirst
Drenched rags
Fear, our pillow
Neglect, friend...
Then...
Our land yields peace
We sleep with eyes closed
We snore
And leave doors open...
Later...
Came the gendarmes
Guns booming
Shrapnels tearing
Bombs tearing
Shrill cries
Rending the airs
Bulldozing us into corners
Of submission
Blindly we ran
Leaving our all
Forcefully
Tearfully
Painfully
Exiting our homes
Lands
Savings
To a future uncertain...
Now...
We are in a forgotten corner
Once said to be
A citadel of intellectuals
Roof it has not
Diseases eat us up
Yet they say
We are lucky to be here
I ask
Is death not
Better than these?
We can't die
They say...
Aid is coming
when?
Soon it has been
Since we got here
Years ago!
But we can't
Go
Move
Run
Anywhere...
We have to wait
Here...
And wait
And hope
And have faith
With them
For help...
Cos...
We are...
... Refugees...
Yettocome...
