Their Love Burned Bright

She eyed him toiling 'round the palace grounds He glanced at her, the pace slowed down at times They knew the love they felt was out of bounds They even might be hung for such a crime No matter how denied, their love burned bright They made a sacred vow to see it through Despite the rules and laws, their love felt right The flame inside them danced to life renewed 'Twas at the height of fiery passion pure Her father heard of what his daughter'd done He grew to hate this common worker sure Who'd come to mock his daughter and make fun The standard way to end these kinds of tales ~ Kings throw their daughters' lover-boys in jail... ...Gendarmes...s'il vous plait... La fin

This sonnet is probably in tribute to what actually happened. I am pretty sure the commoner should have been more careful. Nice touch - the Latin at the end.

Did you mean 'Latin' or 'La fin?' -- Not quite sure. Either way, appreciate your support, Caren. :) gw
