A couple of 'roos
A joey standing forlorn by it's unmoving mother
A few wallabies
A brick of a wombat
An Echidna
A heap of budgies
A raven
Some pretty green grass parrots
Cockies and galahs
A baby magpie
A snake
Some frogs
Someone's cat
A stray dog
All broken
Squashed flat
Mangled
Bloated
Instant death or slow painful bleeding out
In agony
All those battered bodies
The sadness of it all
The need for speed
Creating this meaningless road toll
And no-one seems to care

"War and Peace"
strange birds
flying freedom wings
it was a clear blue sky day
punctuated by white
surrendering
the clear point of morning
a pterodactyl drowning the drill
of cockatoos, galahs and magpies
bleeding bugles
into afternoons and long goodnights
in the darkest moments
light still sings
of war and peace

Watching the misty rain
Falling on the eucalyptus gum leaves
The Galahs are squawking
While I sit in my chair and deep breath
The whistling sounds of a variety of birds
Puddles forming on the ground
Beyond the bird noises
There is no other sound
The Pitter-patter of misty rain
Watching the flow of the river
Is no strain
Life ‘s simplicity at its best
Life in the country
Is where I feel blessed.

My hearts in Australia
On the dusty hot plains
As the galahs chatter in in their pink fine regalia
And will for me forever remain
My heart will remain in the blue crystal water
On the white sandy beach
Swimming in the sun as free as I ought a
And paradise is always within reach
My heart sings with gladness
When I think of those balmy warm nights
Not to love Australia is just madness
When I think of the Great Southern Land bursting with light
When this my time is over on this earth
And my wandering is finally done
I will lie in Oz in restful sleep for what it’s worth
To be blessed as an Australian means heaven was won.

Am sure it was a competition
To see who could wake the humans
The cockatoos started the show
With their flamboyant flight
And ruckus callings
joined by the mad galahs
Their screeching an radical swerving
The crow just looked on
Its bland call to high and mighty
For this sight
The kookaburras started to laugh
In a family group
An in joke am sure
Nothing like the king of the bush
Laughing at Queen Mary falls
The king parrots flew through the scene
In silent flight
As the bower birds jumped round
Making car alarm sounds
In came the rosellas
With a little peep
Then on to their tree
To wait patiently for a feed
This all took ten minutes
I look on in discuss
And then back at my bed
Where I should still be
Resting my head

The yellow dying sun throws lingering light
As the hills are bathed in pastel colours towards night
The trees are filled with pink galahs
And you can hear their incessant chattering from afar
The kangaroos get up and slowly hop around
As they graze near waterholes on dusty ground
Those that live in the darkening shadows
Awake to life in the Outback meadows
The campfire light gives an inviting glow
As the camp oven is cooking slow
It will take off the evening chill
A chandelier of stars fits the bill.

BIRD BATH
Late afternoon has arrived,
I hear happy sounds so clear,
These come each day in hot weather
Bringing me chirps of good cheer.
Birds are playing in the bird bath
They drink and splash water around
Merrily chirping with pleasure,
As water drops fall to the ground.
The sparrows are light brown in shade,
While parrots are strikingly bright.
Pink galahs surround my bird bath,
All make such a colourful sight.
Watching these bird's is enchanting,
But soon they will all fly away
Free to seek other adventures,
May they brighten another's day.

Buoy noise annoys an oyster in bed
Grandma hates Galahs screeching overhead
My dog can't stand vacuum cleaner whirl
Kids hate the noise of nails on chalkboard swirl
Annoyance of noise builds to crescendo
Repeating over again with echo
Noise repeats twice or thrice can be ignored
But after that noise bellows to discord
What annoys are people that hum away,
Those that drum on table with fingers stray
What truly annoys is repetition
Dripping away gouging a submission.

Snake Alarm
I have a mate called Paddy,
Who lives inside me car,
He never made it home to daddy,
He's brown n long haha,
He loves dem little brown Frogs,
He'll slurp n suck em down,
Brown boot polish makes him snazzy,
But beer does make him frown,
Yes he's as quick as lightening,
If he's striking at your face,
An if he bites you on the bum,
We can't suck the venom place.
A heavy Dude the Brown.

Distant mountains, a purple haze,
Kangaroo stands up to gaze,
Station horses and sheep graze,
On an unforgiving plain.
Red gums line a bone-dry creek,
Pink galahs swirl and shriek,
Bones are bleaching from the weak,
On harsh and dry terrain.
Soaring high in the world you own,
With not a kingdom’s soul unknown,
On the red soil plain beneath a clear blue sky,
So much seen in an Eagles eye.
Every movement, every sound,
On the saltbush covered ground,
Thinking safe and can’t be found,
Cannot slip by.
A dingo on the prowl… is in an Eagles eye,
A Whirly-whirly dance… is in an Eagles eye,
Seek the frail so the strong survive,
Keeping the outback so alive…
From an Eagles eye.
Soaring high in the world you own,
With not a kingdom’s soul unknown,
On the red soil plain beneath a clear blue sky,
So much to see in an Eagles eye.

there once was a man from afar
who stood and held forth at the bar
but the tort he invoked was no more than a joke
in defence of the hot pink galah
now the judge who was wearing a wig
when he heard this did dance him a jig
for a poor constitution conveyed no solution
in the case of the flight of the pig
so the case was referred to the crown
who replied with a quizzical frown
how dare this galah make a pig fly so far
i refer to the case of the clown
but the clown at the back of the court
said surely there's more of import
than pigs and galahs who can fly through the bars
when the judge is so easily bought

I see a pair of Pink and Greys
They fly on by my way
They seem to be so filled with health
To me they do have so much wealth
They're so majestic in the sky
As I see them flying by
And when they land upon a branch
It really puts me in a trance
Trays of seed I have for them
On which upon they land
Such a lovely sight to see
I could almost feed them from my hand
I love to see them feeding there
As the seed these two birds share

An Afternoon with T. S. Elliott
As I lay on the verdant grass at college
under the Myrtle tree
I am bathed and entranced by the dancing-dappled light
That flickers above me through warm patchy autumn skies
And diamonds of light that sparkle on yellow green finger shaped leaves-
Autumn’s warmth softly caresses my uncovered feet
It encourages me to slumber – until my gaze is mesmerized at
Two courting grey and pink Galahs perched in the branches above me
As they caress each other-
And above my head-even higher
Two yellow/green/blue parrots playfully peck and groom
Amidst a myriad of other bird calls
From other birds that are hidden to my eyes-
Then suddenly - I glimpse them - darting here and there playing
Catch-me-if-you-can - amidst the dappled rippling light that falls on
Grey-brown branches
I pause and ponder for a moment; I should be writing my assignment on T. S. Elliott; I think upon one of his lines...
" Poems are made by fools like me, but only God can make a tree!" T.S. Elliott
At last I hear God’s inviting voice; muted sounds on the wind- is this-
His voice-of Love?

Saddle old Brownie
A saddle on me old brown horse,
To ride away into the sunset,
Light swag on me old pack of course,
Nother horse called my Regret.
Carry flour for damper or tasty fried scones,
Sugar n tea, few spuds n onions,
Carry a stockwhip to flog off the dogs,
Or galahs with the loony some ones.
Camp every night by blazing fire light,
Out where the Coolabahs sway,
Dip water from the river and boil,
Gumleaf smelling tea today.
Seach for mussels at the waters edge,
Put him on the hook today,
Catch em a cod, good tucker by God,
Spit out the bones I may,
Protein n calcium hey….

Polly lie detector test
Will the lie detector test
Clear up all the mess
If we use it on the ratbag Politician,
When he’s trying to impress
Running down our Bessie next
Lie, catches him in the goolies
yes I’m tipping
yes in the bloody court
with lies and crap so fraught
when the liar get beeped
some sweet surprise
never mind the barrister
machine to test your character
machine says you’re an actor
by your cries
it’s no good a bleating
old sheep you’ve been cheating
to be sent down river
by your rotten stinking lies

i love the diaper comment ....Dr Ram
the buggers sure are bent
need changing like the oil in your car
lots of kicking in the butt
the willful mindless mutts
and voting out some time the crass Galahs
